This is a modern day masterpiece of music, it grabs all the senses and WOW!!!! Just totally awesome. Give her the opportunity for a Bond movie theme and she would rewite how to do it right, totally
I even had the same black and white shoes that I had got on Fairfax a Payless shoes store. When I came back in Paris, I made a bunch of envious (mostly after I mention the price, probably 9,99 bucks or maybe less !)
The first picture is in the mood but look at what the record company made of her on the cover of her CD ! A perfect product retouched with no personnality, she just look like any other R&B singer... a Beyoncé or a Rihanna... TOO BAD.... ! When I first saw her it was a live on french tv, the only one she did, and I got caught by the music right away, turn my head around and saw this slim black girl with another planet haiir style and dressed like I used to dress in the 80's !!! I was amaze !!!
@EmpressSakama16 No, not really well one of her composers/arrangers Roman GianArthur re-arranged it!!!(His father Nat Irvin II originally wrote it in 1976:) Oh yeah another one of her producers Nathaniel Irvin III (of punk-rock group Deep Cotton) is his brother just thought I'd add that ;) LOL
I LOVEE that line at the end "I see beyond tomorrow, of this life of pain and sorrow, my freedom calls and I must goooo"!!! (I hope I quoted that right :) Boyyy she can sing! Oh yeah Roman and Jane sing the spanish speaking part :)
my favorite line " I hear echo's of your laughter in the corners of my mind, as I memorize each detail of your intricate design- that line is real deep and beautiful in itself! you wont hear something like that in any mainstream song today!
She must be Henry Mancini's long distant relative.
Janelle has a beautiful ear for high quality compositions. I have hungered for bold musicians that don't give a rats "A" about fitting into the crowd just to punch out music to a generation of tin ears...making music just for the sale and the awards.
Janelle, your music is mine and I am going to buy all of it. Keep it coming, please!
this song has always fascinated me because of the way it seems to combine all those different types of music that you'd find in music along with its moving vocals.
Janelle puts a futuristic, fresh spin on traditional soul music like nobody else has before... I love all of her work + seeing her live is icing on the cake. Keep bringing us the music, Janelle!
Going to the concert on May 15 she is so freaking awesome. she isnt mainstream she is modest..the natural hair is awesome and she didnt sell out to Bad Boy Records. Something that makes all the difference

She "embodies" the vibe of several great singers and performers. Janelle Monae is so "addictive". I love the "Night in Tunisia" rhythm.
