@musicindisguise He was probably stung by the fact that she didn't trust and obey him, and Venus was probably feeding him a lot of stuff as well. He was also a mommy's boy in the myth if I recall correctly...

Ilike the painting by David. It makes Cupid and David look like a couple of cheeky teenagers having a crafty bonk when when the adults were out of the house.

David always struck me as a glum bugger so it was nice to see oneof his paintings with a bit of humour in it.
