One of the worst days I'v had was coming home to find my house burgled, Back door album went. Thanks to the up loaders, saw him live, memories, memories, gon yirsell. An avid Scottish fan. THANKS
Colin is amazing on a different level, bass? Yep. Lead guitar? Yep. Rhythm guitar? Yep. Percussion? Yep that too. Vocals? Yeah got that. All played one one instrument at the same time? Yep, and done like it's no thing. Just a different class.
it's the beat! dear friends! he is doing the most crazy things, and he keeps the beat! :D I love his bass playing, but the singing is also GREAT! he sounds almost insane, which harmonizes well with his unique super bass playing!
I've loved this guy since the first Back Door album - simply amazing. Some of the early Back Door stuff has now found its way onto CD. I'd strongly recommend you check it out.
Incredible!! I saw a segment of this clip on Bill Wyman's Blues Odyssey the other night on TV. Just blew me away so I had to research. Thanks for posting this! 5 stars!!
Its different:) I like:) Gives you ideas that the instrument is more flexible than people think, if you like this you should check out Seth Horan, not exactly blues but its pretty much bass and vocals:)
In my opinion, along with James Jamerson, this guy has done more to advance bass than anyone else. His style is unique and groundbreaking, even now, with white hair and knocking on 70(sorry Colin), he is unbelievable.
To anyone who thinks that to sit at home and play bass is boring, think again. He has not only opened the door, but kicked it down, many years ago.Only problem is that not many people try and go through it.He should be knighted for services to music.Stunning every time I`ve seen him.

In 73 I thought I was CH. The clearest and most ambitious use of the bass ever thought of. He's just Great.

32\20 Blues. Fabulous. I saw him doing this in Gas St Birmingham in the early 80s in a 2-handed show with Alexis Korner. Classic.

Wow!
Is there any footage of that gig where the whole band is playing?
Vintage Back Door on vid would be amazing!

Could they have shot that from a worse angle? Can't see the strings or the fingerings. Miserable!

"So what?" ........ May I not write what I think?
Must I follow your rules? Sorry, next time I'll ask you before writing. :-)
amnesiac1975 2 years ago
It was an suggestion (not a command) to look further then the usual (bass playing).
But feel free to ask ;-)

I've looked forward but I don't like this way of playing. Should anyone Like any kind of music or playing an instrument?
Don't think so.

The little I have heard Primus, seems like Les Claypool has been listening this quite a lot.

Fabulous player.
Only problem is, if my bass were played by him it would never look at me again!
