Pretty good quality upload (clarity), but your version sounds a little "tinny". Just not quite full or rich. Thank you for the upload though. It's a great song and it's still better than most of the other uploads of this song I've found before.
Be my baby has to be one of the best songs ever recorded! When I first heard this song I thought the girls were white. And do you know what? It does'nt matter at all. When I saw and heard them I was in LOVE!! I still am. I was 5 when this song came out. The test of time, I still love it!!!
@locomania1812 You thought that they were white? Color must of crossed your mind if you " THOUGHT " they were of any color.. And no I do not see what I want to see.
I am the unliker, I scour the internetz for videos with no likes and thens I press Unlike for no reason! muaaah ha ha ha ha, fear me. I am coming for you.
Ronettes, Shirelles ans Crystals................Doesn't get much better than those three girl groups! What a time for music! Glad I grew up in those days and will never stop playing those tunes!
@Wagneryan - You know when you have a really bad cold and you keep coughing up that awful, slimy stuff from your lungs? Phil Spector is below *that* on the scale of things.
look at the photo, sex goddess, music diva, face and body to die for, unbelievable voice, then think about what isnow in the music industry and it sucks, make the most of history cos it will never be like it again, the ronettes, especially ronnie will neverbe bettered, they were too good for their era and were and are too good for the present
@gladiator4457 There is plenty of talent out there today. It's just that times have changed and the critera of what makes a good pop song has changed. This song released today would be quaint and old fashioned. I don't see where Ronnie is any "better" a singer than Pink or Kelly Clarkson.
All that said, the 60's were an incredibly creative and fertile time. My favorite music ever. But there has been crap in every era. Remember Fabian? LOL
@sentstuff05 Do I think the overall quality of songs today matches the 60's? No but no decade has matched that one. There was some weird creative synergy, probably along with unprecedented social change, that just gave us a mind boggling amount of incredible/creative music. Also the music industry has become SO corporate that few are really allowed to take chances. To me the genre that's really suffering is rock. The pop genre, especially female, seems to be thriving.
@sentstuff05 Can't prove that. This whole disillusion that music and society was generally better in the past is called temporal construal theory. It's a theory that calls into mind our inability to accurately recount past events, whether cherished or disliked, and use them in anticipating the future. You should read the study by Trope and Liberman.
@sentstuff05 you're right. And the songs seemed like much more FUN back then- maybe it was just being a teenager as well. Bandstand, school dances, drive in's, car hops, high school, zits, grease, fries and a coke and my Dad's 57 Dodge. Pre Nam, lots of jobs, lots of hope.
@gladiator4457 Ronnie looks great since she lost weight. Looks like the young Ronnie
It was great that they used this song in the movie Dirty Dancing with Gennifer Gray and Patrick Swayze. Love that movie, Love Veronica Bennett, ie ( Ronnie Specter )
Her make-up and hair style are quite modern, dont seem to be from the 60s
