@tremelower I am creating a multi-disc DVD set for GED math where I will give a very good answer to this question. In the mean time, I recommend you buy at least 1 test prep book to guide you. Watching my Basic Math videos here is a good start.
hi im in 7 grade and my teacher gave me a early study which means i got it early and one of the questions on it is x<43 how would i find the equivalent inequalitie?
@bigmac21662 Not sure what you are asking. The only thing I can think of based on info provided is to "switch" the inequality around to 43 > x. I recommend you watch the lesson: "Algebra: Solving Linear Inequalities." By the way, there is no need to send the same comment 3 times. Comments don't appear until I approve them.
hey where do you get them print out sheets you always talk about sir, i'm trying to join the military math is my weakest in all of the subjects...please help me out......i'll greatly appreciated it
@Rising421 Math notes are in 2 areas of my VideoMathTutor website. Just go where the video is, and there is a link, OR visit the "PDF Printshop" under the "e-store" link.
you are awesome!!! but.... where can i look at the notes on your website? all i see are "tips" videos. i didn't see anything labeled "notes" please and thanks :)
@grafearthainn Note sure where you are looking, but notes are clearly shown on my videomathtutor site in several places. Look where video is, or the PDF printshop.
OH one more thing: some ppl don't have printers to get notes ;( so this lesson didn't help me a bit ;S thanks though. Don't put this on comments just letting you know what ppl think when we view it. How it is helpful or not. Thanks agin have a great week.
I can't understand why you kids give this guy negative feedback...? He more than gives his time to help you, there is nothing here to give negative feedback on.... Thanks for sharing Math tutor!!! I am so happy you give up your free time to help us and free most times. I love the rental videos
thank you so much, believe it or not i only made it to 5 th grade. i did get my g.e.d. but basically i just cramed it. so now i am taking graphic design and of course we need to do math. let me just say you really break it down for me. this is really helpful. thank you very much. my kids even like this video!!! thank you.
@8cookies2 Open dot does NOT include the actual value, the closed dot includes the point. I go over this in more detail in my Algebra lesson: "Solving Linear Inequalities.
first time visit to your videos. and man you make math really fun. now getting familiar with this site. tell me how to get the notes. do i have to type in something, somewhere? please help. again :)
@shanemkelley On the homepage of my videomathtutor website, there is a link to "PDF Printshop" at the top of the page. Click that, then look for the "Basic Math and Algebra Notes from Videos" link.
I commend you for helping in this critical area of study. I'm a prospective student of Texas A&M, I want to graduate to Algebra, Trig and ultimately Calculus. I'll be studying in the Maritime field, heavily based in Spherical Trig, Celestial and Nautical Navigation. Question; does your instruction go that far and should I worry if the extent of my math exposure is only to the pre-algebra level?
I attended a Catholic school in Mexico in Kindergarten and the First Grade, then I went to Public schools in Mexico, then a Public High School and University in USA. I would not know much about the systems you describe. Someday, I would like to visit a few Islamic countries to learn more about their methods of teaching MATHEMATICS (which has little to do with morality). Have you studied under both systems? If not, then you cannot draw the personal conclusions you state.
Hey I have failed math a couple times in college.. partly because I was immature the first couple times I took the class as well as all through highschool. I would start out paying attention and then lose it, get off track, and then I was just done. This is going to really help as it already has. Thanks so much! Are there videos like this for other subjects and if so, where?
Just coming from from university very depressed. Came online utube and found you!! U have made my day - Maths once again seems very possible! Do u do private tutoring online? I pay for your time?
I am 18 years old, I studied the math in arabic in Tawjihi (the high-school test in most of middle eastern areas, and they taught us your way and the way i just wrote. its almost the same.
I have searched for hrs for a simple explanation regarding the symbols such as [brackets],(parethesis), closed/open circles and when to use them. Your little chart in the video is a life saver. Thank you so much!
I'm not so math friendly. It's interesting, but it is one of those subjects I have to get better at. To start, your teaching method is great for understanding. I'm glad you're a Math YouTube tutor. You've refreshened my mind and added more. Thanks.
Thank you professor; God bless you. I had this old problem with maths; like many others but yet not many also who can believe here is a lifetime opportunity to beat the problem. Your videos are from the Heavens.
ok, this is a good video, but i have one question. what is the purpose behind inequalities, intervals and set notation? what is it used for in real world situations? i have a hard time understanding these things unless i know how to apply it to something i actually do. thanks
Notation is more of a "math thing" and you will never actually use it in "the real world." This also applies to most of what you learn in school. You will never use the fact Columbus arrived in America in 1492, but you should know this anyway. Knowing math helps you develop your mind to solve problems.
You are actually doing inequalities whenever you use the words:
ok, so is the notation you show in the video used for how you show an answer to certain types of problems then? sorry if thats a stupid question, math is my worst subject
Click the "Free Videos" tab, then go to page with the lesson you want (like Basic Math, Lesson 2). There is an Acrobat Reader icon that you can click to view PDF file on the sidebar, plus a second link just under the videos description. If you still have problems, please email me (don't use YouTube), and I can just send you the files.
