Looks great! BTW, can it be used for sketching like iPad? Does it offer palm-rejection when used with stylus pen? Is there pen-only option in OS settings? Thanks!
Have been using my W500 a few months now and still loving it. My thoughts so far. Agree with geezermeeze,. Its a ted heavy, I won't hold it with one hand for too long. No problem with the track mouse on the keyboard dock, hardly ever used it, I have a USB mouse attached to it, also you can touch the screen if you want to move the pointer. Regretted giving away my desktop! the 10" screen is causing eyestrain, since its now the only PC I have, will get a 22" monitor
At the moment there are 2 different class of tablets..i.e. ones for consuming content and ones that does almost everything a regular PC does. Unfortuntely, because of the amount of grant required to run traditional productivity base OS, the creative class of Tablets are abit bigger. Hope windows 8 will change that, as its able to run on the up coming Tegra 3 processers (Present lot of android tablets uses the Tegra 2). Then we can have the best of both worlds, small form factor and power.
@robypassion Lo spessore del tablet in sé credo possa essere legato al fatto che monta un processore AMD C50 standard, non la versione con TDP ridotto ( e performance ridotte di conseguenza)
@geezermeezer I'm also a Mac koolaid drinker but owning the iPad and iPad2 is an embarrassment of riches. This is so much more practical.
I don't know if Apple will make a hybrid soon enough but it's probably safe to say such a product is imminent with the homogenization of OS X and iOS seen with Lion. I just don't know how much longer I can wait with my MBP just kicking the bucket. All I know is I will not buy an iPad in its current incarnation hence why I'm on this video :)
the only reason why i would want an ipad now is to mirror movies onto the tv as well as to browse through my music, apart from those 2 i dont see the greatness in the ipad right now. To me its boring as well, its just an overgrown ipod touch. I would expect something unique and different from an ipad. But like usual its all about money.
did you know that there is an ASUS windows tablet too? i saw it the other day, its much bigger than the Acer windows tablet but lighter.
@geezermeezer You are talking about the Asus Eeee Transformer which is pretty formidable. I agree with the compatibility of the iPad because AirTunes or AirPlay or whatever the heck they call it. It's extremely convenient to have if you have any Airport Express and an AppleTv both of which I also have.
If the iPhone5 is an improvement then I can upgrade that from my 3G which is so long in the tooth, it's making dentures look good.
no, i dont think its the Asus ee transformer, coz ive seen the ee transformer and it uses Android does it not? This Asus tablet uses windows 7 but its screen is much larger than this Acer tablet and its lighter as ive mentioned earlier. I think its just been released so its still pretty new to the market.
Also even though its only got a 1Gig dual core processor. It seemed to me, more responsive plus with much better graphic performance then my old eeepc 1015PEM. Which is also a dual core (Atom). I only wish it had a bigger SSD, but I'm now very mindfull about not installing too much unnecessary stuff on it.
Got one for about a month now. It's now the only computer I use, was a bit apprehensive to get one at first, because of bad write ups. Got it at a bargain. It's not as good looking as those sleek Androids ones, but its a real pc. You got to play with one for a while to appreciate it. The wide bazel was initially a turn off, but then realize it has its purpose i.e. when you grab it securely with one hand, your fingers won't touch the sensitive screen!
@MrJomimube bullshit, I cant use Dreamweaver, Photoshop of adobe Flash (software not the player)on android, android and ipads is the future for simple work and hobbyist, but we need either a fully windows, linux, or even a MacOS tablet. Since windows7 is the only one so far, That alone has way more opportunities than android or ipad will ever have in terms of software and having the ability to create.
I just got one and though it is heavier than I thought it would be. It is simply the coolest computer I have ever seen or owned. I cant imagine what the next generation of the hybrid tablets/ laptops will be. Acer has set a standard here I am sure th big companys will follow suit.

its a great idea, if only apple went the same direction having their Mac OSX lion on the ipad.
but unfortunately this W500 tablet is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too heavy, my hands ache after holding it for a few minutes. =(
plus i hate that little mouse in between the keyboard, hard to use. prefer a trackpad.
