Hi, do you know if is possible to connect 2 UX8 interfaces at the same time? or is there a way to make a serial connection between them? this is for a drum kit recording purposes.
OK, @ ~2.30 when you assign "mic" or "line" SPDIF, do you have 8 discrete source inputs, or are those "vitualized" where you split inputs to different tracks? In other words, can you record up to 8 distinct instrument and microphones? Some recording devices will allow 4 or even 8 tracks but only from a pair of discrete inputs. I know you have 8 inputs, but the question is whether they are forced through a master pair, the way a mixer would, or do you retain 8 distinct independent sources?
This allows you to record 8 separate, discrete tracks at once. It has a virtual mixer in the interface so you can not only record 8 separate tracks, but it allows you flexible monitoring options.
@AMJMusic09 like you would any other usb audio interface. Connect the ux8 usb to your mac, install the drivers from the line 6 website for the ux8 and then change the input and output setting in system preferences and on the DAW (digital audio workstation), for example, Logic, ProTools etc..
i just bought my own just a 2 days ago and when i first plugged in the guitar in on gearbox it makes a sorta killswitching noise like it stops the sound constantly.
hey all!! anyone can help me out with choosing an interface i found Line 6 Toneport UX 8 and M-Audio FastTrack Ultra 8R they look similar to me. Witch one u recommend? thank u!!
Thanks for this video, my band just bought the line 6 ux8 and we're gonna be giving it a test run tommoro and i think this information is definately going to be useful! -Jordan
Thanks for the video, I have been looking everywhere to get a solid answer as to whether or not the UX8 will allow 8 inputs recorded to 8 individual tracks with no luck until I saw this video. I think I will be ordering one of these now so I can record a 7 mic set up of drums that isn't submixed to a stereo track or just 4 tracks like I have been doing all along with an m-audio 24/96 and mixers going digital and analog
@chiodos82 yes you can use it with logic, it should automatically sync all the programs together so you can use the output...i don't know though how i can get it to work though, so were both stuck there
I bought one of these to hook to an imac 27...in any case, no matter what I do... I plug a microphone into this unit, and it doesn't register the signal...any ideas?
Im planing on getting this so I can record with a signal chain like this
Guitar -> Axe-fx ultra (2 channels out) -> UX8 (recording 2 different channels) -> (ux8 is usb into computer?) -> DAW (cubase 5.1) on window 7
I also want the ux8 to output to monitors while recording... I assume I plug this UX8 into my computer using USB and thats how it passes the audio data right?? All of this will work yea?
I really want to get this for the amount of amps it has so I can use it for both practice and recording. Im not exactly rich enough to just go buy a Peavey 5150 and with this I could basically have that and more right? Im just trying to get something where for when I do covers (ex: Parkway Drive, AILD etc..) I don't also have to use my webcam to record anymore from my amp across the room and I could also have a better tone since I wont have to be using settings from a line 6 amp
how are the preamps on this thing? You dont need to use the line 6 software for the interface to work right? I plan to use it with logic studio 8 and from time to time use the pod farm for certain tones.
I tried asking Line 6 the same question, but they haven't answered me yet: could you use the Line 6 for live mixing? (ex: a demo/show) Let's say I have a beat I made on my computer flowing to the UX8 via the USB. Sound ouput would come out of mains 1 and 2 right? Then I have 2 mics hooked to XLR jacks mic1, and mic2. Could I then get a mixed signal coming out of mains 1 and 2 (vocals + beat)? I don't want to have to buy a mixer when I could just use my UX8 ya know.
@jackomuzik You "could" use it yes, it has stereo outputs or line outputs on the back. BUT it's harder to monitor and you'd need a computer attached for it to operate so i guess the real answer is "no" :) hope this helps. if you are patching it through a pa for recording its fine but i tried it once and it can become a mess.
There is about 10 of these units on ebay being sold as NOT WORKING, is this a bad sign? How will this perform with Cubase?

what i wanna do is:
play 7 diffrent tracks and send them single to 7 outputs
and use pod farm with 1 guitar for the 8th ouput.
is that possible?

Or just use a mixer board with it like I do.

i have a question... i have a toneport ux8 too but only sound in the leftside of my speakers... do you know what i'm doing wrong?
Chivolici0us 1 year ago
@Chivolici0us sounds like one of the following.
a - your speaker isn't in the right jack / or it's faulty
b - you haven't got the right output source selected
c - you have your output source panned to one side - (open your control panel/line 6 set up.

@nayr105 yes u do need phantom power unless they have a battery slot on the microphone.

@nellings6 with headphones you can use it to jam or line it out to an amp but it has to be connected to a computer for it to work.

the record for the 8 XLR and two guitar all along?
only or even the 8 XLR?
SERGIOGOMESbtr 1 year ago
@SERGIOGOMESbtr you can do a maximum of 8 inputs with mics OR 2 max guitars at a time. (i think) You can also do 6 mics and 2 guitars as well.

@SkullKing278 not the recording software but the drivers and the tone port software (gearbox) yes it does.

it has 2 instrument inputs and 8 line inputs so if you had a lead guitar rhythm guitar and bass could you plug one of them in a line?
sonofrock97 1 year ago
Would it be possible to record 3 guitars and a bass it's just my band needs something and we want 1 pod and not 4

hi Shane,
Very good demo, mate. 10 stars !
Looks like a sturdy sounding unit.
I bet Line 6 posts this on their site too
just like Behringer did with your pedals.
