  • This series of videos has been excellent, thank you, I wonder if you could tell me what the tool is that has a small bulbous end and the the name of the eye tool. Keep up the great work...

    CZK

  • @marghellina Sorry...no

  • Thanks for sharing. :-)

Do you give the finished head, a coat of varnish or something?

    Christina

  • @Idumille68 Hi Christina...so glad you enjoyed the sculpting snippets... As for a final coat... when we first started I would lightly spray with a matte finish...thinking it might protect...but over the years I discovered that not only was it not necessary but could also (depending on the spray used) could cause yellowing etc...and you never knew when the matte would actually have a slight sheen..never good for that natural look...

  • What a talented couple you are!!! I enjoyed watching all of your video's here on You Tube and plan to order the DVD set from your website. Thanks for sharing your wonderful artistic talents with us. I learned so much from these clips I'm sure the DVD set will be a real learning adventure for me as well.

  • @Dougnps Hi Doug...so happy that you have enjoyed our sculpting snippets ...there is so so much more covered on the whole series...each is over 2 hours long. We are always so happy to hear that more sculptors will be gracing this fine planet with their talents...always a very good thing!!

  • @marghellina Unfortunately Not...so sorry...

  • Hi Jodi creager, you are the top artist, your video let everyone good to learn, thanks for your share, I wish you have a health and beauty forever. Thanks a lot

  • @martinhamid88 Thank You so much for your very kind words

  • I love looking at your work because it is so amazingly detailed and full of individuality. I'm a doll artist too and always love learning something new. I have been using Prosculpt and Genesis paints for my own dolls. I also use glass eyes but found your technique very interesting and worth trying. Do you use varnish to add gloss to your eyes?

    Thanks for posting these!

  • @Marzipancat You are most welcome...thank you!!

  • Hello,

Jodi...thank you so much for a beautiful tutorial. You are so natural and articulate in the way you express yourself and show your techniques. I feel as if I've sat right next to you and had a live one on one art class.

Your methods for doing eyes and ears are especially helpful. I was a little intimidated about those, but with your help and some practice I know I can do my next head sculpt with confidence.

Again, thank you so much for posting this!

  • Wow, thankyou so much for being generous enough to post this here. Hair has been something that just escaped me with all my dolls, clay and fabric. I changed how I was doing the hair on my latest soft doll to a variation of what you have done here, and she has turned out beautifully! Thankyou!

  • She almost looks like Queen Elizabeth II. ;)

    Great piece of Art!

  • Your work is amazing!!! I've been looking at your website for ages now, and I just can't seem to get enough of all the details on every doll! :) Do you cover the tools you need for sculpting on the dvd? And may I ask what you use for molding the fabric on the dolls? Like the witch hats and everything?

You are so awesome at what you do! Thanks for sharing! :)

  • @Charasy Hello, thanks so much for your very kind words about our dolls and web site.... To answer your question Yes!, on our Sculpting the Head DVD I discuss all the tools I use , from sculpting to smoothing the clay... all the methods I use. I stiffen fabric with an assortment of methods...from watered down glues to actual fabric stiffener ...also an assorment of paints and paint primers....hope this helps

  • @creagers1 It does! :) Thankyou very much!

  • Thanks... will do... =) Your amazingly comfortable and in touch with every move you make... fab fab fab.. x

  • @artmakesmesmile You are most welcome... you asked where to get the full DVD...please visit our web site for that info.

  • where do you order or get your hair

  • @MrWildcat2014 Hello...the hair that I use in the video is some that I have had for years...all my sources have dried up ...and I no longer use that type for our miniature dolls. But I believe you can hop on the internet and find any kind of hair that you need...that was New Zealand Romney.

  • @creagers1 ok thanks for the tip

  • Omg!..i have just checked out your website!...you are without doubt the finest sculptor artist i have ever seen!...any chance of updating the pages with higher quality images?... there is no way i will ever approach your skills...your creations are OOAK and so are you lol...fantastic....i recommend anyone reading this comment to visit the site..its just literally unbelievable!

  • @FSXISCOOL Hello Again... thank you so much for your nice compliments ...I update the web site quite often but only upload 72 dpi for the internet.

You are so sweet with your remarks...glad you enjoyed the web site...check checking back...new things all the time.

  • Thanks i'd love to watch the dvd if full..i am having difficulty with hands.feet and faces lol...am ok on most of the body but you make all this look so easy..i often find myself fiddling with the eyes or lips too much...i have also tried making resin eyes they look good but can be awkward to mould the clay around... thanks again...i will pop over to your website for your dvd..thank you so much for sharing your skills again..a lot of sculptors are quite secretive about their techniques.

  • wow..i have just started sculpting..these are the best you tube videos ever..thank you so very much for your kind and generous attitude in sharing them with us...
