There are lots of idiots in the world, Mark is just one of them, clearly brain-damaged at birth. What is pathetic is that there are people who actually follow this lunatic, they are his cult, his disciples; it is with them that we should get angry, not with brain-damaged pseudo-Hitler here!
but blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe."
A couple verses to back that up. "faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." Hebrews 11:1. God wants to grant you forgiveness through the power of Jesus Christ our Lord by His bloodshed on this earth to cover the sins of men and women. Accept His truth and open up the Word of God to any of the first 4 books in the New Testament. You will see the real Jesus. Have faith my friends. Judgement day is coming.
Christianity is about LOVE. As it is written "you may blasphemy the Son of Man and God, but blasphemy of the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven. Eternal punishment." You atheists who have denied that there is Jesus... There is still HOPE! Put your faith in the sovereign Lord who reigns from On High. He is calling out everyone's name and wants you TODAY. As Jesus tells Peter, this is my hope for you... The second have of the verse "blessed are you for you have seen and believed, but blessed are
@ ErukEngineer -God has chosen to put to shame people who refuse to submit to His Eternal Power and to permanantly cast into Hell anyway who rejects His Divine and Loving Gift of His only Son's shed Blood has payment for our sin-debt. I know for you to embrace the Gospel you would have to be given the Gift of Faith by God. Together let's hope that you might receive Mercy while there is still time. For all life is but a breath given by God and called to return at His determined time.
@ErukEngineer--It may surprise U to hear that many believers in the Gospel of God about the Covenant of Salvation from HIs Coming Wrath established in the Precious Blood of our soon to return King Jesus Christ is not revealed to the worldly wise, powerful, know-it-all's.
The problem with christians is to much hearing and not enough doing. Faith without works is DEAD. Another problem is divided affections. You will either serve God OR serve mammon.
Mr. Piper is part of the problem in the evangelical church: he believes one thing--marriage IS til death--he will not marry divorced persons, yet he stands side by side with Pastors who WILL marry divorced persons. He believes them to be sinning by marrying divorced persons. He does not appear to have the courage to stand against them in this practice. In other words, he stands WITH them in their right to have OPPOSING convictions.
@lastblast7 ...but he is still the christain equivalent of a non-compromising imam who condemns all other faiths and Atheists to hell. In that context, who gives a damn where he stands on remarriage?
@UrukEngineer It is not Piper who condemns all other faiths, Jesus said: "I am the way, the truth, and the life. Noone comes to the Father but by me". Scripture also teaches that there is no other name (Jesus) under heaven whereby men must be saved. Piper is right about the way of "life", but he is very wrong and leading people to remain in their sins regarding repenting from adultery (and scripture teaches: adulterers will NOT inherit the kingdom of God). Serious stuff.
@lastblast7 If what you hold is true, how do you know that the bible is correct and say the Koran is wrong? Under your hardline interpretation both cannot be right.
@UrukEngineer I know because God has shown me truth---opened my eyes that were once blind. As for the Quran, I could never follow a religion led by such a ruthless, blood thirsty leader at it's helm. Muhammad killed many, many people. Jesus came so many would LIVE. Very different message. One was of God, the other was not.
@lastblast7 I don't think that Mohammed actually killed anyone mate. There certainly has been a lot of killing in his name - but then so has there been in Jesus's name.
One could argue that you were born an Atheist (how can a baby know anything about religion?) You are an Atheist towards Zeus, Baal, Odin etc. So why, of the many gods out there, did you chose the one in the bible?
@UrukEngineer Have you read the Hadiths? Have you read the writings of Islamic historians? Muhammad most certainly DID kill many people, mostly Jews, but also those who he viewed a threat to him. Jesus never killed anyone. To the contrary, he taught AND PRACTICED, Love...mercy...forgiveness---even to His own detriment. Those who murder others in Islam are merely following their leader, Muhammad. Those who kill in the name of Christianity are NOT following Jesus, but their own sinful flesh.
@PhysStud2006 Jesus came to bring LIFE to the sinner. Through His sinless life, death and resurrection---ALL, even the most sinful reprobate has a chance for eternal life, if they only will accept His free gift and be willing to forsake their former life. My comparison was not Judaism to Islam----it was Christ to Muhammad. Jesus is the "new way"---the ONLY way---He is our example. Muhammad is the example for the person following Islam. The differences between the two are astounding.
@lastblast7 Jesus is the "only way." Do you have proof to back this up or is this based on faith? And as i stated before, he is also the God of the Old Testament. You cannot dismiss the Old Testament and form a entirely different religious system around the New Testament to paint God in a more positive light. If this is the case, than why not just eliminate the Old Testament from the Bible?
@UrukEngineer - If you don't think Mohammad actually killed anyone, get a history book. Islam is known to be spread by the sword. Jesus never said to behead someone who treated his book disrespectfully. He never said to fight those who didn't accept his "good news" - Mohammad did.
@UrukEngineer - True Christianity was never spread by the sword. Nothing in the New Testament says to force people to become Christians. The fact that some people claim to be Christians, while hurting others, does not mean they are true Christians. They will be separated, as "goats", from the sheep by Jesus at the Judgement. See Matthew 25:31-33
@fwfassett "Christianity was never spread by the sword" Have you heard of the crusades? They give up their lives because they deeply believed they were spreading true christianity - just as fervently as you.
@UrukEngineer - Yes there may have been Crusaders who were Christians. Since the papal hierarchy "dispensed" with any sins they would commit before they even left for the Holy Land - many mistakenly thought killing the "infidels" was OK with God. Anyone who has any knowledge of Jesus in the 4 gospels knows anything other than loving your "neighbor" is a sin.
@fwfassett What about the people who attack abortion clinic doctors? They think they are protecting the life of unborn babies in the name of Jesus. They weighed up the balance of sins and thought it best to kill the doctors.
Nothing surpasses religion when it comes to making good people do bad things.
@UrukEngineer - Peacefully demonstrating outside abortion clinics is OK. Attacking anyone for any reason is not OK. Killing any human being (made in the image of God) is murder. Christianity does not make anyone do anything but love. Stop spouting claims for which you have no proof. It sounds like you have never met a true Christian. Read John if you want to know what Jesus said.
@fwfassett I don't mind what people think, christian, muslim, whatever. It is what they do, based on that belief, that I care about. If they are all peaceful, loving people, like you seem to be, then that would be just peachy. But they are not and they DO think they are christians, true christians. Killing is of course an extreme. I also object to religion worming its way into school, the law, freedom of speech and treatment of women and gays. Atheism is not a "solution" but it is better.
@UrukEngineer The bible clearly states no adulterers will be in heaven, I'd say that is a part of the wide angle. It tell the wife not to divorce her husband and vice versa except for sexual immorality, even then we must consider the forgiving 70x70 factor. My favorite is being single and devoted wholeheartedly to following Christ.
The ordinance to never break asunder what God has made one and not being bound might include separating for the sake of peace but it's not permission to divorce.
But, as you bring it up. What about Atheists that marry, or Muslims? The christian god did not sanction those marriages - are you saying they are invalid?
@UrukEngineer Neither muslim, atheist or any other idolatry is included under Jehova's covenant of salvation from eternal wrath, made for"the people of faith in Jesus Christ, [the] promised Messiah" in whose Shed Blood & Crucified Flesh the covenants are established for the forgivness of all our sin for all who come today while there is still time. Will you come?
@jardineroFelipe By what logical reasoning did you conclude that your religion was correct and all the others false. You see I think you did not do any logical reasoning at all - so why should your point of view be correct. WHY do you think the others are wrong and yours is right?
@UrukEngineer Neither muslim, atheist or any other idolatry is included under Jehova's covenant of salvation from eternal wrath, made for"the people of faith in Jesus Christ, [the] promised Messiah" in whose Shed Blood & Crucified Flesh the covenants are established for the forgivness of all our sin for all who come today while there is still time. Will you come?
Yes, he stands AGAINST those who WANT to get right with God by forsaking adultery. Tells them that they are SINNING--misusing Deut 24. Piper teaches divorce does NOT dissolve the marriage, nor does divorce give right to another marriage,in contrast to what we read in Deut. 24, which DID allow remarriage after divorce. Mr. Piper please correct your confusing, erroneous teachings. You are encouraging people to REMAIN in sin when the Holy Spirit has convicted them to FORSAKE sin!
@UrukEngineer how exactly are the people of the Loving God dangerous, except to those who want people to live without hope, and to die without meaning?
@IAmMission1 The problem lies in their absolute conviction that they are right and all others are wrong.
Ask yourself this question; would you kill for Christ if called upon to do so? Say your kids would become muslims unless you fought back for example.
If you say "yes" then you are happy to value the life of a human being above a dogma that I and most other humans on this planet, think is just plain insane.
Hmm, what comes across most strongly is an unintentional de-bunking of christianity (and most other religions). He put his finger on the key point - why many people believe in god - to get something they want.
@anewdayproductions "a person's motivation toward a thing speaks absolutely nothing to the reality or validity of that thing." Indeed. Therefore what validity is there for Christianity? I can understand why people "wish" it to be true, but as you articulately describe, this does not "make" it true.
@UrukEngineer Let me understand you, the Bible says it is "the Word" to us from God Almighty, given through the prophets and apostles. So are you calling God a liar and are you calling His Son Jesus Christ a fake? Wait, think before you reply because whether you believe or disbelieve does not diminish the trustworthiness of God's truth about all His creation and so you will be held accountable maybe as soon as today.
God almost certainly does not exist. The probability of his/her existance is so small that I live my life on the assumption that there is no god.
The bible was written and rewritten over centuries by men with an agenda. It actually started out as a polytheist text but was slowly redacted to look monotheiest. In otherwords man created god.
Jesus MAY have existed, but many/most of the stories about him are probably not true.
This is one of the most sickest, perverted, twisted, attack on the believers Helmet of Salvation and Armor of GOD. Wow. Washerucess, Calvinist, TULIPS and the like never know if they are ever saved even when they may think they are one of the elected they are still not sure so they "perservere" still not knowing if they are. I have a video that exposes this religous spirit and false doctrine for what it is. All those justified by faith in believing Jesus Christ KEEP UR ARMOR ON PLEASE!
People who never repented Paul Washers way (constant repentance) that according to him are not saved and will face the wrath of GOD-
Jesus Christ, Mary Magdelene, All 12 Apostles, the Gentiles saved under the preaching of the Cross (Acts 10:44-46) the Phillipian Jailer; the thief on the cross; Paul the Apostle; Abraham; Moses; Sarah; Joseph & his12 brethen; Rahab the Harlot; Ruth; demon possesed man; leper; blind Bartimaeus; myself (Anita Fuentes); and millions more around the world.
Christ never gives Himself according to the mind of the receiver. This man is suppose to be a Calvinist and yet preaches subjective receiving of Christ
HA!!! "Am I going to Heaven?? Of course I am going to Heaven!! Look!! I got the ticket!!" (2:00) I'm sorry. That's funny. It's sad but it's still funny.
God created Satan, knowing that evil would be created. He is all knowing and they that evil would be created. Evil is part of his plan, i'd say that he created evil through others which is JUST. He saved us, even though we did not deserve it.
@loveryplease - Wrong. According to Tanakch, G-d created evil. Deut. 30:15 G-d says "have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil. " Furthermore, in Isaiah we read "I form the light, and create darkness; I make peace, and create evil; I the L-RD do all these things."
Unlike Christianity which is pagan, Judaism does not need to invent a demi god called satan to ascribe all evil to. No, G-d created both good and evil and wants us to choose good for a better life.
@TorahForAll The words there are better translated disaster. We might want to think of it as evil, but it is clearly not that. You need to look more closely to Job so you see that Satan [translates as adversary] is the one who does evil and brings evil. This is also in the Pentateuch.
@masterkeep - Wrong. The Hebrew word used for evil is used several times, NEVER meaning disaster but always in reference to evil. In fact, the word disaster in itself is vague. You need to look more closely at the Hebrew text, and if you can't, perhaps it is time you stopped relying on translations because certain words, like "virgin," never appear in the Hebrew texts.
@TorahForAll Virgin [עַלְמָה] is correct. It is literally a young eligible woman which in culture means virgin. Adversity [רָע] can mean evil but is usually of trouble, sorrow, adversity, grief; not limited to or normally evil. Other scripture shows that God does not make or cause evil / wickedness - as from sin.
@masterkeep- Wrong. ha'almah is NEVER used as virgin, but a young women. Secondly Isaiah says "Behold the young woman is with child, and she shall bear a son, and she shall call his name Immanuel. Cream and honey he shall eat when he knows to reject bad and choose good; for, when the lad does not yet know to reject bad and choose good, the land whose two kings you dread, shall be abandoned." So which Kingdom of the two did Jesus abandon? What age did Jesus know good and evil?
@TorahForAll The Septuigint translation of the Hebrew into Greek by scholars translates that as virgin. I'm sorry you have been mislead about the Hebrew but the word really means an eligible woman, i.e. a virgin. As to the rest of that verse, the prophesy has a double fulfillment. The first is that there with a child born shortly after the prophesy was given, and that child's growing is when the invading country was abandoned [not by the child].
@masterkeep -Incorrect. Now, let us go to the "dual" prophecy. II Kings 15-16, that this prophecy was fulfilled when Pekah and Rezin, two kings were suddenly assassinated.
Second off, you do not speak Hebrew and yet you are trying to tell Jews, who actually read the Hebrew Scriptures IN Hebrew, what Hebrew actually means... that is quite something. Like I said, unless you can show why Matthew did not use betula, your case is lost. You have been mislead, virgin actually means cat in English.
@EvertonFooty Matthew used Greek. The word he used was [παρθενος] and has the same virgin meaning as [עַלְמָה]. The Greek has very specific words that simply mean girl / child. The septuigint was translated by Jewish scholars when Hebrew was spoken originally, not as now when people are trying to place meaning after it had been "dead." I know it never completely was unused but meaning has been lost.
@masterkeep - The Greek word parthenos can mean either young women or virgin. For example, Genesis 34 after Dinah is raped is is called a parthenos. Of course, Dinah was NOT a virgin after that account, and yet, that same parthenos is translated as alma. I do not think you know what the Septuagint is. It is a translation of the Torah, first five books of Moses, NOT the major and minor prophets. Therefore your claim that Matthew used the Septuagint fails completely.
@EvertonFooty No, the septuigint is all of the Hebrew scriptures, I have a copy. It may have been traditionally [the 72 story] the torah, but it includes the entire Hebrew scriptures i any major variant we have. The alternate meaning to virgin I had already given was eligible woman, and rape did not make a woman ineligible if she had called out [proving non-complicit].
@masterkeep -Therefore your claim that meaning has been lost is nonsense, especially since several findings, not excluding the Dead Sea Scrolls show the Hebrew used is the same Biblical Hebrew used today. Again, since you are a non-Hebrew speaker claiming that the Jews who speak Biblical Hebrew are wrong, is bizarre and confusing.
@EvertonFooty Hebrew at the time it was translated to Greek was the same as years before; however, our use cannot be proven to be the same, we are reinjecting some things and could be considerably off on those.
@EvertonFooty The II Kings account is the first happening from the prophesy. By dual fulfillment I mean that it had a second happening, its completion in Jesus birth.
@masterkeep - No. The verse is a prophecy for that time, not some dual mythological prophecy. In fact, Christians lost it since they have to claim this dual nonsense because Jesus did not fulfill any requirements for the messiah. I mean, look at ignorant Matthew, quotes from Hosea saying "Out of Egypt have I called my son." Of course, the original verse is talking about Israel, G-d's treasure, not pagan Jesus.
@EvertonFooty Jesus [ישוע] was a Jew, recognized as a rabbi / teacher, not a pagan. He was born in the city of David, of David's lineage. The list of prophesies / messianic requirements is longer than this forum, but he fulfills them.
@masterkeep- "When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.." If we continue on this dual prophecy then we conclude Jesus was an idol worshiper. Verse 2 says, "but the more I called Israel, the further they went from me. They sacrificed to the Baals and they burned incense to images." You see what you are doing, you are taking whatever suits you and ignoring the rest. You can not have your cake and eat. Again, Matthew was an ignoramus.
@EvertonFooty Jesus was an example of what all of Israel was suppose to be. He lived his life not just for his sacrifice, but also as an example and righteousness that could be substituted for our failings [imputed in KJV]. As such the negatives are left out because he responded as God wanted. Matthew wasn't the only to point this out. Paul [Saul of Tarsus] was trained by Gamaliel, one of the most revered rabbis of the time and he quoted in the same manner.
@masterkeep - Furthermore, you have to believe alma means virgin because Matthew translates it as such. Proverbs 30:18-20 uses alma and notice, just like the word means, virgin is NOT there. If Isaiah wanted to say virgin he would have said betulah, which appears in the Hebrew Scriptures. But you, following Matthew, must ignore the Hebrew language and make nonsense up.
@masterkeep - And since you do not understand Hebrew, the word is limited to evil. And yes the Scriptures make it clear G-d makes both good and evil and places it before us and we must choose good. If you understood the Torah and Jewish theology you would understand why this is so, but you obviously do not know Hebrew nor Torah language.
@masterkeep - And according to Job, haSatan which simply means adversary, which is not limited to a demi-god like in Christianity, was doing the will of G-d. G-d gave haSatan certain instructions on what he can and can not do, and as a loyal servant of G-d, haSatan obliged. In Tanakch and Judaism anything can be a haSatan because anything can be an adversary to you.
@TorahForAll No, God limited Satan, Satan was not doing God's will. He is also referred to as the Prince of Persia [identifiable as a spiritual being/angel working against another angel]. He is also identified with the serpent in the Genesis account. He is no demi-god but an angel who left his abode, one who was to be a supernatural servant who turned against the creator.
@masterkeep - Uh satan is NEVER identified as satan in Genesis, read it!!! And where exactly in the Hebrew Bible is satan mentioned as a fallen angel? Hint: NO WHERE!!! Because G-d created evil, Christians had to event satan. But here is the problem. The Hebrew word used for evil is rah and the NIV translates it as disaster- but in the footnote puts, literally EVIL, LOL!!!!- Of course, if you are honest and actually knew Hebrew, the word rah means literally evil.
@TorahForAll Zechariah 3 has Satan standing against the angel of the Lord. Only an angel can stand against an angel [or God] & Satan is identified here opposing the angel of the Lord. God created the ability for evil to come [i.e. rebellion against God] but that is not the same as evil. Again [רָע] is broader than just evil, though it always means something bad. The English word evil isn't broad enough to fit the Hebrew word.
@masterkeep- RAH MEANS EVIL! You do not speak Hebrew so STOP pretending you understand it. RAH MEANS EVIL. There are different words for disaster that the Hebrew Scriptures use, but this verse, in context means evil! It's like the Christian bastardization of the term cross, which means wooden poll in Hebrew. Regarding Zecheriah... what event is the chapter talking about? What are the characters and what has happened to Joshua at this point in time? Context, context....context!
"The cause of hatred." No, the cause of hatred is sin, and whether for this god or that god or this freedom or for their comfort, or for this nation or that nation, or their resources or their freedoms, or because they are not us, or we need what they have, we will find some reason to hate our fellow man, for no reason other than because of sin. Only take a look at the secular societies of the world - North Korea, Communist Russia, and Nazi Germany, and you'll see sexism, racism, and hatred.
and both the nazi regime of germany and communist russia are both history lessons. religion is the best excuse for prejudice, racism, sexism, intolerance, homophobia, xenophobia, violence, rape, murder, genocide, execution, torture, slavery, war...
"So why does he appeal to people to change in this way if we are trapped in our 'God-given perspective'?"
In short, 2 Timothy 2:24-26 is why. God has the power to save them though Piper's words. Not because Piper can change the people in the audience, and not because those people can change themselves. They cannot. "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me, draws him." (John 6) Only if God draws them will they come. That doesn't make sharing the Gospel meaningless.
Pipers website states: "If a person remains too hard hearted & proud to submit to God, it is because that person HAS NOT BEEN GIVEN such a willing spirit... the Father's drawing is why some believe and not others."
He appears to think we can do nothing about this! So why does he appeal to people to change in this way if we are trapped in our 'God-given perspective'? (be it willing or unwilling)
who is this "they" Mr Piper is repestedly accusing of not loving Jesus supremely? his fellow brothers and sisters? Pretty much all the evangelical Christians we come across do love God supremely - they're not following him for money / ordered universe etc. as you "fear".
If God has converted these saints he will surely lead them to love him - thought JP believed in irresistable grace...? (which would surely be efficaceous to attain God's desired outcomes in the hearts of those he influences?)
This should make you think about how you'd answer the question: "Why are you a Christian?"
We take Christ on as our redeeming and atoning Savior not because we want the prize of paradise, but because we want to love the God that first loved us. God owes us nothing, but we owe him everything.
But also, do not do it out of guilt or because you feel obligated to the Lord. Do it because He is deserving of all our praise.
true He is the almighty creator, He deserves all our thankful praise and admonition. but for some hatred will do just fine. God uses all things/people/circumstances to bring glory back to Himself. He deserves it and He knows it. Praise be to God, He's awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Praise God indeed!... but as we know, God loves all people - he is no respecter of persons - Christ died for all..."This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance. For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of ALL MEN, especially of those that believe. These things command and teach." (1 Tim 4)
What don't you get about "he is not willing that any should perish"? God so loved the WORLD...
Piper is spot on. This is something that you don't hear about in mainstream teaching. Do people accept Christ for their own sake or for the Lord's sake? That's why I disagree with street preachers that threaten hell to passerby with large signs. If our only desire is to avoid eternal separation, what good is our relationship with God?
Oh, so true. I love John Piper's preaching. He is so gifted and speaks such wonderful Truth. May God bless DG richly in 2010 by drawing many to the glory of Jesus Christ, whose very Name is power!

I don't get it. If you're not accepting jesus to get into heaven then what are you accepting him for?
Now if you consider this a selfish statement you're right, because it is. Though that's why we invented religion in the firstplace. We did it with the selfish desire to abolish our fears of being insignifigant. Which I feel we are. I am very happy with being insignifigant because I know I have one life to live and I'm going to love it and cheerish all of it's wonders and glories.
Jesus does not need you to accept Him. You need Him to accept you. And asking the God of the universe to stoop to your level won't cut it. You must come to Him on His terms. That means we must give up all our lying, stealing, lusting, hating, etc. and ask Him to forgive us for doing all those things previously. Jesus is not some lonesome deity waiting in heaven for "anyone" to happen His way. He is the ruler of all things, and will judge ALL in righteousness.
I'm not quite sure what you mean, stoop to my level. I think you misunderstood who I was calling selfish. I ment to call the people selfish for playing suck up to god to get into an afterlife paridise. I wasn't calling jesus or god selfish.
And about being judged on my final day. I believe that if your god indeed judges all in righteousness he would understand. I'm not about to give you my life story, but I will tell you this. I never steal and rarely lie or hate, though I do lust with my lover
@plhrlh What do you mean by "asking the God of the universe to stoop to your level won't cut it."? Isn't that what Jesus-the God of the universe- did? Now, obviously, we never asked him- he died for us while we were yet sinners. And yet you are completely portraying legalism. You're saying that God's terms for salvation are that we "give up lying, stealing, etc"... but our own righteousness is still tainted by sin- our righteousness is a dirty rag. We need Christ's righteousness, not our own.
kudos for your honesty in being able to ask the question that many 'Christians' ignore. "why do we accept Jesus?"
In my own personal experience with God, I have realized that we are NOT created for heaven but for this planet, and after this place is gone revalation says he will create a new heaven and a NEW EARTH where he will give us another chance to not screw things up.
most people accept Jesus as a "get out of hell free" card I accept him because he teaches me how to Love people better
But what is heaven? It's anywhere we can exalt Him and live in His presence. Earth will be heaven. We do not "get a another chance" but God, in all His mercy and grace, will rid us of our flesh and we will live forever to exalt Him. If we got a second chance we would do worse than Adam and Eve did. You do not accept Jesus for His teachings, or for loving people better. YOU LOVE HIM FOR HIM! He is all satisfying. His presence is what we live for. Psalms 73:25.
And when you get tired of things that never satisfy and living "the good life," I pray that you come see the only true source of pleasure, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
YOU'VE GOT IT SO BACKWARDS! You live to satisfy yourself. You demonstrate with your every action that you believe yourself to be better than God. We do not recieve this faith to give ourselves worth. Rather, we turn from our sin to do just the opposite- to show that God alone is worthy of praise and glory and honor. To say that we as Christians believe we are insignificant would be an understatement.
Yeah i was sure I was replying to someone. I was talking about how God God becomes the sole significance of our lives. Don't get why I got thumbs down...thanks though.
"Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins." We love Him, not because of His gift. We love Him because His gift demonstrates His love.that forgiveness was a demonstration of love. "for God so loved..that He gave..""we love Him because He first loved us.""He who is forgiven much, loves much" The love of the one who receives, comes in response to the great love they are shown. His love sets the kindling of our hearts aflame.
John Bunyon and Luther loved God, but it was the burden of sin, the fear of God's heavy hand and the hope of something more, that drove them into His bosom. "The Fear of God is the beginning of wisdom."
One of the problems is that churches do not introduce people to who Christ truly is. How can someone accept Jesus as Lord if they do not know who he is. However, I do think scottidee if you are seeing the Fruit of the Spirit through Christ's work in your life then you must be saved (elect).
scottidee if u are loving Jesus or learning, u have the desire and hating the sin in your life that is evidence you are born again. that is election. The Bible says He chose you, you did not choose Him. Society shows that...nobody is choosing God, but they are choosing to please themselves.
Just some thoughts that came to mind when I read your post:
There is a difference between fear and the fear of God. The fear of God is good, it is recognition of our insignificance. Fear can spur us toward good thing, but righteousness is a better motivator.
Please don't be confused. Just get back to the Cross everytime you sin. Repent, read the Words, and pray. As long as our direction is TOWARD Christ, than it is okay whatever happens in our life (sins, trespasses, wrongdoings) Although reformation of lifestyle (Christ-like attitudes, point of views, and characters) must be employed everyday.
I am also struggling in how to love Jesus purely everyday (in contrast - you don't want to go to hell) and becoming more and more like Him, nevertheless we are still kept on sinning and sinning. As an example: we want the gift-heaven more than the giver-Christ.
you have already passed the conversion step as you declared Christ as your savior (this never be happened, if He did not choose you in the first place). Now is the sanctification step. Still we are in our sinful nature, we do not know how to genuinely love Jesus. We will be perfect at Glorification step - which is when Christ return for the second time.

So far, every John Piper video I have watched has been pretty much the same.
He oozes unctuous humility and self-rightuousness while he tells everyone they are all wrong and he is right.
I find it amazing that intelligent people are taken in by someone who is so transparent and negative.
Admittedly, Piper is more subtle than gross, hideous perverts like John MacArthur or Kent Hovind. But, if anything, his subtlety just makes him even more sinister.

Piper is quite entertaining Boney .Completely bonkers but fun to listen too , unlike that Hateful old Misery Macarthur, but ,yes, he is still busy tainting the collective unconscious of society with mythology presented as unquestionable fact so must be resisted and challenged by righteous men of science.
the ole 'do not judge' verse.. didn't see that one coming..
2 Corinthians 13:5 (New International Version) 5Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?
Take the word of God and what the word of God says about a true christian and if you fall short of the test.. repent and believe.. - Paul Washer..
If you could just put the bible down for a second and have a little peek through the Hubble Space Telescope it might give you a clue as to how big the Universe is. Was it all created for man to be at the centre? I doubt it . There are probably billions of life bearing planets. The Bible was written by stone age people who thought the Earth was flat and the Sun went around it. What relevance does it have for a 21st Century scientifically aware society? Not much fellah.
Isaiah 40:22 It is He who sits above the circle of the earth
Job 26:7 He stretches out the north over empty space; He hangs the earth on nothing.8 He binds up the water in His thick clouds,Yet the clouds are not broken under it. 9 He covers the face of His throne,And spreads His cloud over it.10 He drew a circular horizon on the face of the waters,At the boundary of light and darkness.
And it wont be possible to even see all the kingdoms even if it was flat.... matthew 4:8 takes about in a spiritual state so i guess u cant understand the bible i see
no , I can`t for the life of me see why you would prefer such a demonstrably false and self contradictory account of creation to the scientific one.
"The visions of my head as I lay in bed were these: I saw, and behold, a tree in the midst of the earth; and its height was great. The tree grew and became strong, and its top reached to heaven, and it was visible to the end of the whole earth. (Daniel 4:10-11)
wouldnt work if the earth was round. Trees dont grow that tall
im a twit ??!! ur an idiot that cant understand anything from the bible yes i will trust a godly man over stupid scientist that come up wit theories of evolution that have no hard evidence behind it
yes , you have to submit a paper proving how stupid you are before they will allow you to study Cell biology at MIT these days. If you are too smart they make you go to the Discovery Institute for a 2 week truthology phd.
lol r u kidding me first of all it was vision that used symbolism .. it never happened in real life........ its funny how u pick out a few words and take it out of context ... READ THE WHOLE THING >>>>>FAIL
phew thats a relief. Did you know that there are people out there who see the Bible as the inerrant word of God , with no room for metaphor or symbolism?
I kid you not . Some of them even show their face on TV , when they should be dribbling into their straightjacket.
i do see the bible as teh inerrant word of GOD... but God words is full of metaphor or symbolism .. to those ppl that say theres no room for that well they need to learn how to read the bible
False claims, why does he generalize Evangelical churches like that? Has he been to EVERY SINGLE one of them?
Matthew 7:1-3 "Do not judge, so that you may not be judged. For with the judgement you make, you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get."

Ain't it great to be sitting thru this Sunday after Sunday, being constantly told what's wrong with you and how no-good you are. Are there ANY preachers uplifting their sheeps to some degree for a change, not utterly devastating them how permanently? Nowadays one has only the choice between Arminianistic crap, humanistic crap with christian coating like coming from the likes of Joel Osteen or this calvinistic you_are-no-good-in-no-way stuff. That's why we stopped attending church altogether.
We aren't supposed to lift up the sheep, but lift up Christ! As john the baptist said, "He must increase, and I must decrease." God says that we aren't worthy of Him, we are but dust, we are vile in our sins, so we need to have the perspective of that, and the perspective of His Holiness. The more you understand His Holiness, the more you understand you're vileness.
I am in complete agreement with you. It took many years to conclude that, although Jesus is the only begotten Son of God, I shouldn't have to be continuously berated and condemned for being human. And no one's saying sin isn't bad--but the evangelical churches have NO remedy for how to live the Christian life. If you don't trust, "wait on the Lord", and cease your frustration and anger with God-well, there's simply no hope for you...ever. I'm tired of evangelicalism-andstill searching for God.
Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Rom 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Rom 10:11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
And when you truly believe in your heart, which is the center of who we are: the seat of our intellect, mind, emotions and will - it will have a radical effect on your life. (Paraphrase from Paul Washer)
"If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha (accursed)" (1. Cor. 16:22).
"If ye love me, keep my commandments." - Jesus (John 14:15).
"He that has my commandments, and keeps them, he it is that loves me: and he that loves me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him." (John 14:21)
You forget the command by our Savior to REPENT, AND BE BORN AGAIN! You fail to understand that faith and belief are a gift of God which allows you to repent, and to see Christ in His Glory. For only God can raise from the dead, and we are dead in our sins and transgressions. Believing with our hearts is key, not the mind. And mankind does not seek God, yet hates Him without cause. This is why God is the only one who can give us faith and allow us to believe.
I love this!!! Awesome encouragement!

FOCUS ON THE BIG PICTURE
UrukEngineer 1 year ago
@UrukEngineer It is not Piper who condemns all other faiths, Jesus said: "I am the way, the truth, and the life. Noone comes to the Father but by me". Scripture also teaches that there is no other name (Jesus) under heaven whereby men must be saved. Piper is right about the way of "life", but he is very wrong and leading people to remain in their sins regarding repenting from adultery (and scripture teaches: adulterers will NOT inherit the kingdom of God). Serious stuff.
lastblast7 1 year ago
@lastblast7 If what you hold is true, how do you know that the bible is correct and say the Koran is wrong? Under your hardline interpretation both cannot be right.
UrukEngineer 1 year ago
@UrukEngineer I know because God has shown me truth---opened my eyes that were once blind. As for the Quran, I could never follow a religion led by such a ruthless, blood thirsty leader at it's helm. Muhammad killed many, many people. Jesus came so many would LIVE. Very different message. One was of God, the other was not.
lastblast7 1 year ago
@lastblast7 I don't think that Mohammed actually killed anyone mate. There certainly has been a lot of killing in his name - but then so has there been in Jesus's name.
One could argue that you were born an Atheist (how can a baby know anything about religion?) You are an Atheist towards Zeus, Baal, Odin etc. So why, of the many gods out there, did you chose the one in the bible?
UrukEngineer 1 year ago
@UrukEngineer Have you read the Hadiths? Have you read the writings of Islamic historians? Muhammad most certainly DID kill many people, mostly Jews, but also those who he viewed a threat to him. Jesus never killed anyone. To the contrary, he taught AND PRACTICED, Love...mercy...forgiveness---even to His own detriment. Those who murder others in Islam are merely following their leader, Muhammad. Those who kill in the name of Christianity are NOT following Jesus, but their own sinful flesh.
lastblast7 1 year ago 16
@lastblast7 Jesus is the God of the Old Testament, who murdered an untold number of people. You're comparison to Islam is frivolous.
PhysStud2006 7 months ago

PhysStud2006 6 months ago
@UrukEngineer - If you don't think Mohammad actually killed anyone, get a history book. Islam is known to be spread by the sword. Jesus never said to behead someone who treated his book disrespectfully. He never said to fight those who didn't accept his "good news" - Mohammad did.
fwfassett 11 months ago
@fwfassett Fine, I believe you.
But, can you honestly tell me that christianity was not also "spread by the sword"?
UrukEngineer 11 months ago
@UrukEngineer - True Christianity was never spread by the sword. Nothing in the New Testament says to force people to become Christians. The fact that some people claim to be Christians, while hurting others, does not mean they are true Christians. They will be separated, as "goats", from the sheep by Jesus at the Judgement. See Matthew 25:31-33
fwfassett 11 months ago
@fwfassett "Christianity was never spread by the sword" Have you heard of the crusades? They give up their lives because they deeply believed they were spreading true christianity - just as fervently as you.
UrukEngineer 11 months ago
@UrukEngineer - Yes there may have been Crusaders who were Christians. Since the papal hierarchy "dispensed" with any sins they would commit before they even left for the Holy Land - many mistakenly thought killing the "infidels" was OK with God. Anyone who has any knowledge of Jesus in the 4 gospels knows anything other than loving your "neighbor" is a sin.
fwfassett 11 months ago
@fwfassett What about the people who attack abortion clinic doctors? They think they are protecting the life of unborn babies in the name of Jesus. They weighed up the balance of sins and thought it best to kill the doctors.
Nothing surpasses religion when it comes to making good people do bad things.
UrukEngineer 11 months ago
@UrukEngineer - Peacefully demonstrating outside abortion clinics is OK. Attacking anyone for any reason is not OK. Killing any human being (made in the image of God) is murder. Christianity does not make anyone do anything but love. Stop spouting claims for which you have no proof. It sounds like you have never met a true Christian. Read John if you want to know what Jesus said.
fwfassett 11 months ago 5
@fwfassett I don't mind what people think, christian, muslim, whatever. It is what they do, based on that belief, that I care about. If they are all peaceful, loving people, like you seem to be, then that would be just peachy. But they are not and they DO think they are christians, true christians. Killing is of course an extreme. I also object to religion worming its way into school, the law, freedom of speech and treatment of women and gays. Atheism is not a "solution" but it is better.
UrukEngineer 11 months ago
@UrukEngineer The bible clearly states no adulterers will be in heaven, I'd say that is a part of the wide angle. It tell the wife not to divorce her husband and vice versa except for sexual immorality, even then we must consider the forgiving 70x70 factor. My favorite is being single and devoted wholeheartedly to following Christ.
The ordinance to never break asunder what God has made one and not being bound might include separating for the sake of peace but it's not permission to divorce.
jardineroFelipe 1 year ago
@jardineroFelipe Hmmm, I didn't mention divorce.
But, as you bring it up. What about Atheists that marry, or Muslims? The christian god did not sanction those marriages - are you saying they are invalid?

It is the next evolutionary step towards dropping religion all together.

@anewdayproductions "a person's motivation toward a thing speaks absolutely nothing to the reality or validity of that thing." Indeed. Therefore what validity is there for Christianity? I can understand why people "wish" it to be true, but as you articulately describe, this does not "make" it true.
UrukEngineer 1 year ago
@UrukEngineer Let me understand you, the Bible says it is "the Word" to us from God Almighty, given through the prophets and apostles. So are you calling God a liar and are you calling His Son Jesus Christ a fake? Wait, think before you reply because whether you believe or disbelieve does not diminish the trustworthiness of God's truth about all His creation and so you will be held accountable maybe as soon as today.
jardineroFelipe 10 months ago
@jardineroFelipe Jardinero, to clarify:
Does that help?

God created Satan, knowing that evil would be created. He is all knowing and they that evil would be created. Evil is part of his plan, i'd say that he created evil through others which is JUST. He saved us, even though we did not deserve it.
loveryplease 1 year ago
@loveryplease - Wrong. According to Tanakch, G-d created evil. Deut. 30:15 G-d says "have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil. " Furthermore, in Isaiah we read "I form the light, and create darkness; I make peace, and create evil; I the L-RD do all these things."
Unlike Christianity which is pagan, Judaism does not need to invent a demi god called satan to ascribe all evil to. No, G-d created both good and evil and wants us to choose good for a better life.
TorahForAll 1 year ago
@TorahForAll The words there are better translated disaster. We might want to think of it as evil, but it is clearly not that. You need to look more closely to Job so you see that Satan [translates as adversary] is the one who does evil and brings evil. This is also in the Pentateuch.
masterkeep 1 year ago
@masterkeep - Wrong. The Hebrew word used for evil is used several times, NEVER meaning disaster but always in reference to evil. In fact, the word disaster in itself is vague. You need to look more closely at the Hebrew text, and if you can't, perhaps it is time you stopped relying on translations because certain words, like "virgin," never appear in the Hebrew texts.
TorahForAll 1 year ago
@TorahForAll Virgin [עַלְמָה] is correct. It is literally a young eligible woman which in culture means virgin. Adversity [רָע] can mean evil but is usually of trouble, sorrow, adversity, grief; not limited to or normally evil. Other scripture shows that God does not make or cause evil / wickedness - as from sin.
masterkeep 1 year ago
@masterkeep- Wrong. ha'almah is NEVER used as virgin, but a young women. Secondly Isaiah says "Behold the young woman is with child, and she shall bear a son, and she shall call his name Immanuel. Cream and honey he shall eat when he knows to reject bad and choose good; for, when the lad does not yet know to reject bad and choose good, the land whose two kings you dread, shall be abandoned." So which Kingdom of the two did Jesus abandon? What age did Jesus know good and evil?
TorahForAll 1 year ago
@TorahForAll The Septuigint translation of the Hebrew into Greek by scholars translates that as virgin. I'm sorry you have been mislead about the Hebrew but the word really means an eligible woman, i.e. a virgin. As to the rest of that verse, the prophesy has a double fulfillment. The first is that there with a child born shortly after the prophesy was given, and that child's growing is when the invading country was abandoned [not by the child].
masterkeep 1 year ago
@masterkeep -Incorrect. Now, let us go to the "dual" prophecy. II Kings 15-16, that this prophecy was fulfilled when Pekah and Rezin, two kings were suddenly assassinated.
Second off, you do not speak Hebrew and yet you are trying to tell Jews, who actually read the Hebrew Scriptures IN Hebrew, what Hebrew actually means... that is quite something. Like I said, unless you can show why Matthew did not use betula, your case is lost. You have been mislead, virgin actually means cat in English.
EvertonFooty 1 year ago
@EvertonFooty Matthew used Greek. The word he used was [παρθενος] and has the same virgin meaning as [עַלְמָה]. The Greek has very specific words that simply mean girl / child. The septuigint was translated by Jewish scholars when Hebrew was spoken originally, not as now when people are trying to place meaning after it had been "dead." I know it never completely was unused but meaning has been lost.
masterkeep 1 year ago
@masterkeep - The Greek word parthenos can mean either young women or virgin. For example, Genesis 34 after Dinah is raped is is called a parthenos. Of course, Dinah was NOT a virgin after that account, and yet, that same parthenos is translated as alma. I do not think you know what the Septuagint is. It is a translation of the Torah, first five books of Moses, NOT the major and minor prophets. Therefore your claim that Matthew used the Septuagint fails completely.
EvertonFooty 1 year ago
@EvertonFooty No, the septuigint is all of the Hebrew scriptures, I have a copy. It may have been traditionally [the 72 story] the torah, but it includes the entire Hebrew scriptures i any major variant we have. The alternate meaning to virgin I had already given was eligible woman, and rape did not make a woman ineligible if she had called out [proving non-complicit].
masterkeep 1 year ago
@masterkeep -Therefore your claim that meaning has been lost is nonsense, especially since several findings, not excluding the Dead Sea Scrolls show the Hebrew used is the same Biblical Hebrew used today. Again, since you are a non-Hebrew speaker claiming that the Jews who speak Biblical Hebrew are wrong, is bizarre and confusing.
EvertonFooty 1 year ago
@EvertonFooty Hebrew at the time it was translated to Greek was the same as years before; however, our use cannot be proven to be the same, we are reinjecting some things and could be considerably off on those.
masterkeep 1 year ago
@EvertonFooty The II Kings account is the first happening from the prophesy. By dual fulfillment I mean that it had a second happening, its completion in Jesus birth.
masterkeep 1 year ago
@masterkeep - No. The verse is a prophecy for that time, not some dual mythological prophecy. In fact, Christians lost it since they have to claim this dual nonsense because Jesus did not fulfill any requirements for the messiah. I mean, look at ignorant Matthew, quotes from Hosea saying "Out of Egypt have I called my son." Of course, the original verse is talking about Israel, G-d's treasure, not pagan Jesus.
EvertonFooty 1 year ago
@EvertonFooty Jesus [ישוע] was a Jew, recognized as a rabbi / teacher, not a pagan. He was born in the city of David, of David's lineage. The list of prophesies / messianic requirements is longer than this forum, but he fulfills them.
masterkeep 1 year ago
@masterkeep- "When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.." If we continue on this dual prophecy then we conclude Jesus was an idol worshiper. Verse 2 says, "but the more I called Israel, the further they went from me. They sacrificed to the Baals and they burned incense to images." You see what you are doing, you are taking whatever suits you and ignoring the rest. You can not have your cake and eat. Again, Matthew was an ignoramus.
EvertonFooty 1 year ago
@EvertonFooty Jesus was an example of what all of Israel was suppose to be. He lived his life not just for his sacrifice, but also as an example and righteousness that could be substituted for our failings [imputed in KJV]. As such the negatives are left out because he responded as God wanted. Matthew wasn't the only to point this out. Paul [Saul of Tarsus] was trained by Gamaliel, one of the most revered rabbis of the time and he quoted in the same manner.
masterkeep 1 year ago
@masterkeep - Furthermore, you have to believe alma means virgin because Matthew translates it as such. Proverbs 30:18-20 uses alma and notice, just like the word means, virgin is NOT there. If Isaiah wanted to say virgin he would have said betulah, which appears in the Hebrew Scriptures. But you, following Matthew, must ignore the Hebrew language and make nonsense up.
TorahForAll 1 year ago
@masterkeep - And since you do not understand Hebrew, the word is limited to evil. And yes the Scriptures make it clear G-d makes both good and evil and places it before us and we must choose good. If you understood the Torah and Jewish theology you would understand why this is so, but you obviously do not know Hebrew nor Torah language.
TorahForAll 1 year ago
@masterkeep - And according to Job, haSatan which simply means adversary, which is not limited to a demi-god like in Christianity, was doing the will of G-d. G-d gave haSatan certain instructions on what he can and can not do, and as a loyal servant of G-d, haSatan obliged. In Tanakch and Judaism anything can be a haSatan because anything can be an adversary to you.
TorahForAll 1 year ago
@TorahForAll No, God limited Satan, Satan was not doing God's will. He is also referred to as the Prince of Persia [identifiable as a spiritual being/angel working against another angel]. He is also identified with the serpent in the Genesis account. He is no demi-god but an angel who left his abode, one who was to be a supernatural servant who turned against the creator.
masterkeep 1 year ago

The English word evil isn't broad enough to fit the Hebrew word.
masterkeep 1 year ago

That doesn't make sharing the Gospel meaningless.
nivek325 1 year ago
Pipers website states: "If a person remains too hard hearted & proud to submit to God, it is because that person HAS NOT BEEN GIVEN such a willing spirit... the Father's drawing is why some believe and not others."
He appears to think we can do nothing about this! So why does he appeal to people to change in this way if we are trapped in our 'God-given perspective'? (be it willing or unwilling)
cornwallsteve 2 years ago
because he doesn't which people are being drawn to God. only God knows that. he is pleading to all to reach the ones that will.
daneandkristybeam 1 year ago
who is this "they" Mr Piper is repestedly accusing of not loving Jesus supremely? his fellow brothers and sisters? Pretty much all the evangelical Christians we come across do love God supremely - they're not following him for money / ordered universe etc. as you "fear".
If God has converted these saints he will surely lead them to love him - thought JP believed in irresistable grace...? (which would surely be efficaceous to attain God's desired outcomes in the hearts of those he influences?)
cornwallsteve 2 years ago
@cornwallsteve he is not questioning their salvation, but their perspective. Their view of God is hampered by why and how they treat Him.
Revinius 2 years ago
This should make you think about how you'd answer the question: "Why are you a Christian?"
We take Christ on as our redeeming and atoning Savior not because we want the prize of paradise, but because we want to love the God that first loved us. God owes us nothing, but we owe him everything.
But also, do not do it out of guilt or because you feel obligated to the Lord. Do it because He is deserving of all our praise.
sherwelthlangley 2 years ago 3
true He is the almighty creator, He deserves all our thankful praise and admonition. but for some hatred will do just fine. God uses all things/people/circumstances to bring glory back to Himself. He deserves it and He knows it. Praise be to God, He's awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
daneandkristybeam 1 year ago
Praise God indeed!... but as we know, God loves all people - he is no respecter of persons - Christ died for all..."This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance. For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of ALL MEN, especially of those that believe. These things command and teach." (1 Tim 4)
What don't you get about "he is not willing that any should perish"? God so loved the WORLD...
cornwallsteve 1 year ago
Piper is spot on. This is something that you don't hear about in mainstream teaching. Do people accept Christ for their own sake or for the Lord's sake? That's why I disagree with street preachers that threaten hell to passerby with large signs. If our only desire is to avoid eternal separation, what good is our relationship with God?

I don't get it. If you're not accepting jesus to get into heaven then what are you accepting him for?
Now if you consider this a selfish statement you're right, because it is. Though that's why we invented religion in the firstplace. We did it with the selfish desire to abolish our fears of being insignifigant. Which I feel we are. I am very happy with being insignifigant because I know I have one life to live and I'm going to love it and cheerish all of it's wonders and glories.

MJwalkathon,
Jesus does not need you to accept Him. He is the ruler of all things, and will judge ALL in righteousness.
plhrlh 2 years ago 28
I'm not quite sure what you mean, stoop to my level. I think you misunderstood who I was calling selfish. I ment to call the people selfish for playing suck up to god to get into an afterlife paridise. I wasn't calling jesus or god selfish.
And about being judged on my final day. I believe that if your god indeed judges all in righteousness he would understand. I'm not about to give you my life story, but I will tell you this. I never steal and rarely lie or hate, though I do lust with my lover

MJwalkathon 2 years ago
@plhrlh What do you mean by "asking the God of the universe to stoop to your level won't cut it."? Isn't that what Jesus-the God of the universe- did? Now, obviously, we never asked him- he died for us while we were yet sinners. And yet you are completely portraying legalism. You're saying that God's terms for salvation are that we "give up lying, stealing, etc"... but our own righteousness is still tainted by sin- our righteousness is a dirty rag. We need Christ's righteousness, not our own.
thecrazedmd 1 year ago
kudos for your honesty in being able to ask the question that many 'Christians' ignore.
DrPercussionist 2 years ago
But what is heaven? It's anywhere we can exalt Him and live in His presence. Earth will be heaven. We do not "get a another chance" but God, in all His mercy and grace, will rid us of our flesh and we will live forever to exalt Him. If we got a second chance we would do worse than Adam and Eve did. You do not accept Jesus for His teachings, or for loving people better. YOU LOVE HIM FOR HIM! He is all satisfying. His presence is what we live for. Psalms 73:25.
dominicano0226 2 years ago

dominicano0226 2 years ago
YOU'VE GOT IT SO BACKWARDS! You live to satisfy yourself. You demonstrate with your every action that you believe yourself to be better than God. We do not recieve this faith to give ourselves worth. Rather, we turn from our sin to do just the opposite- to show that God alone is worthy of praise and glory and honor. To say that we as Christians believe we are insignificant would be an understatement.

dominicano0226 2 years ago

However, I do think scottidee if you are seeing the Fruit of the Spirit through Christ's work in your life then you must be saved (elect).
singingpv 2 years ago
scottidee if u are loving Jesus or learning, u have the desire and hating the sin in your life that is evidence you are born again. that is election. The Bible says He chose you, you did not choose Him. Society shows that...nobody is choosing God, but they are choosing to please themselves.
Con10derz 2 years ago
Or is it God is not choosing them?
singingpv 2 years ago
Well, now I am very confused , because i thought the gospel FEAR which brought me to and still brings me to repentance is genuine saving faith.
So now I feel like I am praying to the ceiling because i'm NOT really elect.
Of course i don't want hell, of course I desire heaven but i am still learning to LOVE Jesus
as all satisfying.

scottidee 2 years ago
Scottidee,
Just some thoughts that came to mind when I read your post:
There is a difference between fear and the fear of God. The fear of God is good, it is recognition of our insignificance. Fear can spur us toward good thing, but righteousness is a better motivator.
4488maire 2 years ago
Part 2
Please don't be confused. Just get back to the Cross everytime you sin. Repent, read the Words, and pray. As long as our direction is TOWARD Christ, than it is okay whatever happens in our life (sins, trespasses, wrongdoings) Although reformation of lifestyle (Christ-like attitudes, point of views, and characters) must be employed everyday.
Hope that's help.

Part 1b
I am also struggling in how to love Jesus purely everyday (in contrast - you don't want to go to hell) and becoming more and more like Him, nevertheless we are still kept on sinning and sinning. As an example: we want the gift-heaven more than the giver-Christ.
tonee87 2 years ago
scottidee,
you have already passed the conversion step as you declared Christ as your savior (this never be happened, if He did not choose you in the first place).

Doesn`t it also claim that ;
Matthew 4:8
8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; (KJV)
You couldn`t do that unless the Earth was flat.
You probably think that really happened I imagine.....

Yes, that is true.
Cor. 16:22).
