i have 6267 and i dont encounter any problems like you guys if i want to see the time i only need to press the outside keys and when im opening it. it unlocked itself and when i fold it the light automatically turns off.... ^^
i really want to buy this model its very good looking....
Just bought a 6600 fold - it looks good, but this double-tap is crap and makes this phone extremely frustrating! I tap the thing twice, nothing happens, I can tap it 50 times, nothing happens. It works randomly, and never ever when holding the phone with one hand.
Even though I know what the outcome will be, I still find myself often looking to my closed 6101 to see what time it is. I can never see the clock and have to open the unit, then activate the screen backlight, to see the time. The only thing the external screen is good for is seeing if I have a new message or missed a call, however, even then I can only tell which is which by the pattern the illegible text makes on the screen.
Pardon me. When I say, "The only thing the external screen is good for...", I mean the only intentional action on my part. I do like being able to see on the external screen who is calling. Thank goodness the backlight activates on incoming events.
Hello! On the 6101, doing what you suggest takes two actions: open the fold, push the power button. I must do this tens of times, every day. This means that if I use my phone to check the time, I am always viewing it on the inside, always after the two-step sequence, above. The UI designers put a clock reading on the external screen, which is almost redundant. However, the 6600 designers' tap functionality makes far better use of the phone as a closed device. I like that. 8^)
I have a Nokia 6125, and if I press the volume button for increasing volume on the right side, the external screen lights up. This even works with the buttons locked. If you hold the button for under 1 second, the external screen lights up, without any text like "buttons locked" or showing the volume level. I'm pretty sure this works on the 6101 too.
@Liam87 Thanks for taking the time to write. On the 6101, pushing that button shows the volume level for three seconds then returns to the main screen with the clock. It is interesting but still more involved than the tap functionality shown in this video. Well, it's all academic, anyway. Take a look at the screen now! flickr. com / photos / hd41117 / 2933016402

Hey, on some phones, pressing the power button turns on the backlight for a moment. Have you tried that?
