  • Dei Forelle = Phobia of Hooks.

    xD

  • it's a good song to start your day with all thanks to sherlock holmes 2

  • sherlock holmes and my washing machine brought me here XD

  • Be carefull what you FISH for. : ) Best movie ever!

  • lol I actually heard this in Music class then when i saw the movie Sherlock Holmes, as soon as the song play I jumped up proudly saying to my boyfriend I KNOW THIS SONG!!!!

  • S H 2 !

  • S H 2 !

  • Plz explain what this song is trying to say or interpret

  • @soosae1297 It ells the story of a fisherman trying to catch an elusive trout.

  • @Indego84 Thank you for replying, but still i do not understand how it relates to sherlocke holmes saying 'be careful of what you fish for'

  • @soosae1297 In the movie Professor Moriarty used this song as a parallel for himself and Holmes. Holmes being the fish and Moriaty the fisherman. Later, after his plan had been defeated Holmes turned it back on him by saying "be careful what you fish for"

  • @Indego84 thank you but i wonder if it could be the other way around, perhaps prof. moriarty is the hard-to-catch fish and holmes is the fisherman, in the end moriarty was lost to holmes like the fish to the fisherman. But i think ur right since what holmes had said, and thank a lot btw

  • @soosae1297 Possibly. but what I forgot to tell you was that in the story the fisherman used dishonorable means to catch the fish. He stirred up the water so it got muddy and the fish was confused.

  • @Indego84 thanks a lot

  • @soosae1297 You're welcome.

  • @Indego84 Indeed. Hence the flipbook illustration in the phony notebook of the fish devouring the fisherman.

  • My fantastic musical knowledge brought me here. Just kidding. I was told to listen to it for my Music exam and then heard it in Sherlock Holmes and was like O.O DIE FORELLE!

  • OT: 2011 had some great villians with great musical tastes: Moriarty and Red Skull, come to mind.

  • Be careful what you fish for.

  • "I've just got one more question for you: Which one of us is the fisherman...and which the trout?"

  • Be careful what you fish for

  • Professor james Moriarty xD brilliant..

  • I love now in love with this song and I can't stop singing it thanks to Hans Zimmer. The way he turned this beautiful, brilliant song into a chilling, evil masterpiece of music blew me away.

  • Wonderful song, terrifying scene in the movie of Sherlock Holmes.

  • thumbs up if sherlock holmes 2 brought you here

  • @gucci2timesniggah Ohhhh, look at me, I'm so cool copying one of the top comments.

  • Beautiful rendition! What is the title of the painting at 0:56?

  • Nice, too bad I don't speak.... uuuh, What language is this song in?????

  • @kampungflunk675 German.

  • :D

  • @iST3LLA Which makes it fucking superb!

  • This in Sherlock Holmes was just the most fucking brilliant thing ever. The scene was so chilling and demented, and the song so beautiful.

  • Thumbs up if you'll never be able to see this as cheerful after seeing sherlock holmes.

  • Be careful what you fish for.

  • Thumbs up if your here because of music class

  • Like if Sherlock Holmes brought you here

  • Sherlock Holmes !

  • cute pictures

  • I'm singing this song for as a choir solo. So far, so good (I'm having a little trouble with the pronounciation though). Any tips or advice? I would be most grateful :D

  • @TheAPrincess Work on your pronounciation of words with an umlaut.

  • the trout looks delicious^^

  • @gyratingduckies My favourite fish :-)) Yum.

  • I love the pictures!

  • Fischer-Dieskau + Gerald Moore = a musical gem! Thank you FiDiTanzer for uploading this fine video!

  • Das mussten wir in der 6. Klasse auswendig lernen. -.-

Nichts gegen das Lied an sich, aber das ist einfach nichts für Kinder zum lernen...

  • lol^^ iwi lustig

  • Le grand Fischer-Dieskau et sa voix merveilleuse! En plus il est beau!!!

  • so was unnötiges

  • One of the finest versions of Die Forelle ever! Keep it up!

  • Vielen Dank fuer das Video!

  • In another version, Schubert has the little fish disporting (playing contentedly), in the stream before he is spied by the fisherman. I bought a little fantail goldfish once, to serve as more or less a pretty ornamental feature for an aquarium in my room. He turned out to be anything but that! Playful, smart, and so very cute, he behaved more like a dolphin!! He grew to require a 30 gallon tank..... he was a BEAUTY!!

  • my washing machine plays this song when the cycle is over

  • @4thlord51 can you tell me how to do that

  • @bassbass99able I have a samsung red box shape washing machine (I don't know what's the name of the model). It's pre-program into it but If you have some tech knowledge it's not impossible to replace a conventional buzzer with an audio bit. Sorry if I couldn't help, I wish every washing machine plays romantic composers like schubert

  • Thanks for posting and for your explanations and translation. Great job.

  • MARIN BREKALO AAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • I enjoyed the Schubert music!

    ------Ellen

  • I love my music class

  • What a stupendous genius Franz Schubert was! Such an astounding melodic fecundity! I can't think of more than three other composers (Mozart, Chopin, Verdi) who had such an outstanding gift for haunting melodies, tons of them indeed.

DFD is of course terrific. So is the slideshow with the text. Thanks a lot for sharing, my friend.

  • Magnificent.

  • Thank you for this! It is extremely helpful! And an excellent performance, as always.

  • Thank you so much for posting this video with the very accurate poetic translation. And I love the pictures you included! It definitely helped me to visualize. :)

As always, Herr Fischer and Herr Dieskau are excellent.

  • am besten mit chemballo

  • Very beautiful. The best version on YT IMO is Nicholas Spanos's.

  • Hören wir gerade im Musikunterricht! :-D

  • A csermely halkan zúgott, hol útja völgyre nyílt,

  • LONG LIVE FISCHER-DIESKAU!

  • I learned it accidentally in primary school. An know 15 years later i can remember the whole song :D

  • the last stanza (not included by schubert) Die ihr am goldenen Quelle Der sicheren Jugend weilt, Denkt doch an die Forelle, Seht ihr Gefahr, so eilt! Meist fehlt ihr nur aus Mangel Der Klugheit, Mädchen, seht Verführer mit der Angel! Sonst blutet ihr zu spät! you that are dwelling near the safe fount of youth, remember the trout! if you see danger, flee! mostly you will fail just due to lack of wisdom, girls, beware the seducer with his rod! or you will bleed too late!
  • omg! I've caught a pwoper fish!! (matt bellamy)

  • cheune !

  • Eine sehr dramatische Story,Verkackte Dieb und arme Forell :(

btw tnx for sharing this beautiful lied,It's a pity that Schubert died so young at the age of 31

  • I should learn how to sing this just because I can, and have not done any Operatic singing in quite a good while.

  • Poor trout. :-( Love the song though, and brilliantly interpreted by Fischer-Dieskau. :-)

  • beautiful song....I'll have to sing it next year

  • 감사 드림 /Ffm. 에서 KCC

  • Sublime è divenir Trota

    se l'Amo è esca succosa

nessuna trota sarà mai più ritrosa

    .....e verrà a te

    gioiosa salterella sinuosa

    danzando di fiducia

    per nulla incerta

    donandosi completa

    con la sua bocca

    .........aperta! -B E L L I S S I M O- * * * * *

  • Thanks for uploading. By the way, somebody said that the moral of this lied is- young ladies, beware of men with a rod.

  • Perhaps the greatest male lieder singer on record. His subtle vocal shading, never overdone, and his handling of the text are always marvelous.

  • What better duet than the magnifcent voice of Fischer-Dieskau and Gerald Moore as his accompanist. One of the finest versions ever.

  • Oh!!! I wish I didn't know those sad words!

Thank you for the nice video! Hello from Russia ;)

  • Wonderful. But do you only listen to DFD and

    nobody else?

  • Superb! DFD dances along with his story - and portly Gerald is just as nimble. I must learn how to make a fish wriggle.

  • Now Barry, with that fancy new software of yours, surely you can make a fish wriggle. I bet you could even make him do the tango. :))

  • @Glenmed Better fry it and make another culinary fantasia!...

  • This is the best version of "Die Forelle" that I have heard so far. As always, DFD brings out the shade and contrast in Schubert's Lieder. Well done!

  • Thanks, Peter. Glad you are pleased. Best wishes on your singing.

  • Thank you very much for this song and also video. The Trout in polish is called "Pstrąg", Greating from Poland!

  • Thanks for commenting. Hello to you in Poland!

  • ps: I love the fish "swimming" along :))

  • Great Karen!! What a sad song:( This was beautiful - thanks:)

  • Yep, poor little trout. :)
