  • not bad... and the pilot survived yay xD

  • I wouldn't necessarily call that a "failure". You survived the landing and so did most of the helicopter. Real pilots always say, "Any landing you can walk away from is a successful landing." :)

  • At least your on the ground ryhte?

  • It´s a deep simulation, not a game (unless using the game mode settings inside it). But in about a week you get the feel of all commands, if you already have good experience with Flight Simulators. If not, if it´s your first flight simulation experience, you really will have to expend a month or more to learn this thing...

  • Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing.

  • Ok, a simple observation from a real world pilot is- 1, never nose down as much as you did in the early stages of auto - you lose RRPM (thy staff of life). 2, although you should never do this when practicing autos in real life, in an actual emergency, allow your RRPM to be quite high when b4 u flare to give yourself more energy to slow down. 3- I didnt see much of a flare in this video. Your groundspeed was way too high on contact, you sort of just coasted to the ground.

  • And emergency landing you walk away from is a good emergency landing.

  • I can imagine the mechanics facepalming while watching this

  • part of the reason why its easier is the coaxial rotor. that and wheeled landing gear instead of skids. if it was a single rotor with a tail rotor, you might have had more fun fighting the drift and probably wont have as much time to adjust for the approach. gotta love tandem and coaxial design.

  • How do you change the colour of the shvikal? Its black and white for me.

  • good job! this looks a lot like a ka-27 who is trying to perform a water landing after being missiles in the engine/tail. Put an armored speedboat in a group of 30 ka-27 and see what happens...

  • Too early flare using up all the inertia in the rotor causing you to drop very quickly in the end.. start the flare closer to the ground and flare harder.. Meet with collective after levelling out from the flare. That's the way to do it! Lovely sim though! Much better in autorotation than FSX.

  • Yes B+ Indeed!

  • I was wondering, I've seen in most landing videos that the pilot eases the Ka-50 into a rolling landing as opposed to a vertical landing like you'd see with a Huey or Cobra, why is that?

  • @Warhawk556 Probably a lot easier with wheeled landing gear, safer too. I'd rather have forward momentum parallel to the ground than to rely on auto-rotation straight into the ground.

  • Можно и плавнее посадку на авторотации сделать, без подлома стойки шасси и без поломки конца лопасти как было видно здесь.

  • ......i'm still waiting for the "fail"......

  • if you can fly this ting your pro!! i cant even takeoff?? is it then so damn hard?

  • whats up with the landing

  • haha u didnt die tho!

  • Never flew a tandem rotor but on a single shaft you pulled pitch about a second and a half too soon to flare, you would have lost tail authority big time. Any landing you can walk away from... Not bashing gamers, hope it leads you to being real pilots. CFI

  • were did you get the sound mod for the rotors? i have looked but cannot find. got any tips?

  • That looked harsh =)

  • I would not call that a total failure. At least you didn't totally destrroy it. lol

Autorotation is rpetty hard in BS.

  • Think you left some stuff a few hundred yards back ;)

  • This game is over-compllicated...but i love it. : )

  • A good landing is one you can walk away from, a great one is when you can re-use the aircraft.

But yeah, tis just a bit bent, she'll be right.

  • im looking for the sound mod for the rotors any suggestions? also i am having trouble getting the same site hawk system to work. i have been trying to impement it on some online play and its not working.

  • then again when u gotta land u gotta land

  • common mistake is to flare too high. 2 steps, 1st, hit that point 'where u play the game' of holding it off the runway. Should be from a height thats safe to fall from. When ur set there, then you can allow it to land...Just what i was taught.

  • O_O so perfect the blades colided... awesome, btw... like they say, a nice landing is the one you can walk out of it. So... nice landing XD

  • Is dcs black shark a hard game to play? do you like require a month of practicing to just find the buttons to take-off?

  • Took me a whole week just to figure it out to takeoff, not to mention cold engine starting.

  • @Nightclawler took me 4 times watching the tutorial and jotting down the "trainee" guy instructions, I even used my cell phone to snap the keys in order from the video... nice thing but nasty at first.

  • You can play the game in two modes: "Game", where anyone can fly the helicopter within 30 mins of training. And "simulation" where you need the 500+ pages manual to fully understand all of the different options.

  • @dataguttene

It does however have a "game-mode". More like a simplified simulatior mode.

Not tried it myself much though.

  • @dataguttene well there is a 2 button auto start but i think its easier to manage than say falcon 4.0 or even lockon with full real avionics ect. the hardest part is just locking on to targets while tryijng to fly defensivly. I f your a sim fan try it

  • @dataguttene it isnt that hard when i started flight simulator X i learned how to fly a boeing 737 in 2 days so a helicopter must be easy.

  • @masterberkay66 dude...tsk tsk tsk.....FSX is 1000x easier then this.In FSX you dont have to control every system.Believe me,I have both and DXC is a 1000x harder

  • @masterberkay66 Helicopters are easier to fly, but harder to learn to fly. Airplanes don't drift like a helo, so you must get used to thinking/reacting ahead of time. You must anticipate. Using visual references you must calculate approach speed, and descent speed mentally. No numbers involved, your brain will instantly and instinctively calculate where you will be in 2secs, 3 secs. Spend 100 hours landing to exercise your brain, or you will end up over compensating when landing/maneuvering.

  • @AlmostCommon you are god damn right!!!!It's like a chess game!

  • @dataguttene It´s a deep simulation, not a game (unless using the game mode settings inside it). But in about a week you get the feel of all commands, if you already have good experience with Flight Simulators. If not, if it´s your first flight simulation experience, you really will have to expend a month or more to learn this thing...

  • That was quite nice. One thing to note, you flared about 10 feet to high. So the blades ran out of RPM while you were still airborn. If you had waited on the flare that would have been perfect

  • no it wouldn't he was much to fast

  • I thought this was a fail. I saw a chunk fly off, but the pilot and the vast majority of the money spent in the helicopter is saved. Successful landing to me.

  • lol i saw part of the landing gear and maybe part of the roter but yeah i agree most of the mili dollar craft was saved! xD

  • Like they say, any landing you can walk away from...

  • Custiomizeation good in this game?

  • Author, why is your SKHVAL display in yellow color? Mine is white, and IRL the shark has a yellow display i think (Saw in a youtube video)

  • I believe it is a mod, not sure though.

  • Nah sry not Hokum .. Black Shark

  • whats the difference

  • MAAN that was nice only the rotor dameged . i dont have the game so i dont know how it feels when you control the Hokum but anyway cool vid

  • its a kamov 50 not a hokum and its HARD

  • Kamov Ka-50 and HOKUM is the SAME helicopter. Hokum is it's Nato reporting name.

  • you sure i remember a little difference in them im pretty sure that hokum has alittle different body

  • I liked the approach a lot, how you were coming in at that angle, sort of like a plane landing but shorter.

But yeah hard landing, still the aircraft is in one pice just some damage to the right wing and landing land other than that it could fly again i bet.

  • Very nice. Too bad you flared a bit too early.

  • you don't have to shut off the engines. you can also just reduce throttle to idle. Same effect right? Is it necessary to adjust with the propeller pitch with the collective when auto rotating?

  • NO it is not the same. You still have more lift with idle than with full shutdown

  • how is that failed? lmao my failed one ended in a huge explosion and death XD

  • Maybe it is failed because one of the wings flew of XD ? And because he has a flat tire.

  • is he dead? if it was an emergency then i dont think he failed lol

  • No but he was shutting of the enigne himself. And if you are training an auto rotate procedure you shouldn't destroy half your heli because repairing it is very costly. Watch for example the vid from BPA6013 to your right. Does he brake one of his rotors ?

But again it was a very nice try!

  • Any landing you can walk away from is a good one.

  • have you done anything to the sound `?

  • Haha rotor blades touched each other, a big bump!

  • Damn, you can autorotate to in this sim? ITs sooo realistic :P:P:P:P I want it I want it I want it XD

    Nice vid man 4 stars!

  • cool landing! you should jettison your weapons to release weight. but very nice skills

  • you might have lost a few bits on touchdown but for a first attempt that was pretty good! definitely survivable i would think.

  • hey, does dcs black shark have the damage engine from lock on flaming cliffs (the su 25t)

coz when it landed it sure looked like it

  • no flames! good to go!

  • try to use the wheel brakes next time :p

  • Failed? Looked like you and your virtual pilot walked away from that one son. You get a B+

  • @paradym123 yeah whats a little rotor damage, if you walk away, it can be repaired. there should be some spares in the maintenance hangar. he came in decent, but just not level enough. instruments baby, instruments! lol

  • wow

  • Is it very hard to learn how to fly it?

Looked hard in another clip, and a guy said he´d spent 1 day practising to get it up in the air :P

  • Yes, and another full week to learn how to fly

straigt. forced trim is pretty new to me,But once u get used to her, she'll fly quite steady.

  • I'm no expert, (I'm downloading DCS as we speak,) but I think you flared too high. Descent rate at touchdown was pretty fast.

  • I'm no expert too, that's my first time doing auto rotation though. : )

  • In that case, nice! I'll have to give it a shot today.

  • Cool!

  • where did you get that kind of sound for the game? links please!

  • what AUTO ROTATION

  • AUTO ROTATION : you switch off rotors and you go down, this maintain the rotating rotors. If you are good you can land "safely".
