  • Now that tomato is ready to fight zombies! :D

  • I have seen indivduals inject the epi-pen on the chest, where can this device be administered without doing more harm to the patient?

  • Thanks for the Video, However I dont think its a good idea to show people the needle. Seeing it may frighten someone and they wont want to use the pen.

  • the epinephrine thats in the pen would cause you heart rate to increase, its like adrenaline.

  • Make Epi-Pens with Zombrex Please...

  • We just found out my mom is severely allergic to coconut. The other night her throat was closing in and she could barely breathe, we just got an epipen for her. I was looking for a video on how to use it, so this was a lot of help, thanks.

  • just show me your boobs and my friend

  • So what can happen if someones playin around and dont have a severe allergic reation and they stick themselves with it? Will it do harm or will nothing happen?

  • thank you. A vid of the epipen that got right 2 the point

  • My doctor said I'm not supposed to use it unless I call 911 right after I do.

He wants them to monitor my heart rate and doesn't want me to use my Epi-pen w/out going to ER.

That means a definite trip to ER if I have to use it and, just now, I have to drop dead if I have an allergic reaction. I can't afford the $90 it costs to have an Epi-pen w/out health insurance. If I can't afford that, I KNOW I can't afford the ER charge.

I really will die w/out epinephrine, I already nearly did.

  • @vickiormindyb you must contact 911 because the medication only stalls the reaction so within 20 minutes after injection the reaction will be back the doctors at ER must administer full drug to stop reaction

  • they are extremely expensive :D

  • It looks like one of those infectors from battlfield 2 lol

  • i have one but thang god i dont have to use it yet

  • can u just stick it in you like that without a reaction ?!?! like u just stuck it in therreee ! no reaction at all !!

  • @x0xvanillachicax0x no because the medication is adrenaline so if you do inject it you will most likely have a heart attack

  • Only just receiving my 1st Epi-pen Friday this has now made me aware on how to use it, with the correct pressure and to listen for the sound. Thank you!!

I had my 1st Anaphylaxis reaction 15yr ago with penicillin and in the past 6mths only have reacted to other foods like shellfish, eggs, potatoes and peanuts (minor allergies to wheat, corn, milk and soy). For those readers that have never had any food allergies/reactions enjoy every mouth full of food for me!

  • @quirkafleeeg my brother has a pnut allergy. it is ver scary!!!!!!!

  • Are they reusable (i.e housing) or is it a use once and destroy product ?

  • @FlamingCuntLips use once give to doctor afeter going to emergency room, he will get rid of it, ask 4 a perscription for a new one!

  • she puts hers in and nothing on her face and other people put theirs in and the start screaming

  • does it hut becuse in allergic to penut so i have to use a epipen if i eat a penut

  • I just got my epipen and have a question, exp date is feb 11, does that mean feb 2011 or feb 11th??

  • 2011

  • @andrea756307 feb 2011 numb nut

  • @EriJod44 there´s no such thing as an idiotic question when it comes to something like this. If you had allergies you would know what I´m talking about. What a rude way to answer a question...that says alot about you...

  • @andrea756307 it actually is an idiotic question. if they have allergies they should know this stuff, like how to read a date on the epipen. and it's obvious that is is feb 2011 and not the eleventh of feb because why would the FDA approve a drug that would expire days after being prescribed it? and not like it's any of your business but i do have allergies, and just for the sake of your arogance, i have allergies to peanuts, eggs, soy, wheat and penicillin. so, in other words, stfu

  • @EriJod44 just in case you haven´t noticed you´re the one who´s been arrogant. NO, it is NOT an idiotic question, did you even notice when I posted that question??...it was BEFORE feb 11 and I had just been diagnosed with allergies...if you are not going to be respectful, then you are the one who needs to keep his mouth shut, and I´m gonna say it one more time, your words say a lot about you. You can keep on writing profanities, this is the last time I´m going to waste my energy on you.

  • I have to carry one around for my friend at school just incase he forgets his

  • wats the difference between a yellow one and a green one ?

  • @annzibella yellow is adult green is childrens.

  • My mother is allergic to epinephrine. She goes into anaphylactic shock whenever it has been administered to her, since the mid-sixties, so she stays away from it. Of course, you will always find some "expert" who says it is impossible to be allergic to it, yet for every one of those "experts", you can find a medical text that says that true allergy to epinephrine does exist, but is very rare.

  • You have to massage the area you injected it into for 10 seconds also. Anyways, good video... :) Very informative, and undramatic :)

  • i had to use one of em they rlly dont hurt that much kinda stings feels weird doctor tought me how to use

  • my 1 yr old sister has one of those... shes highly allergic to peanuts... :(

  • thank god im not allergic to anything!

  • i get allergy shots 2-3 times a week and my dr. recommended that i take a epipen with me incase of severe reaction. i don't know if i could inject myself.. i would definitely be scared after seeing this video, but i would if i really had to.

  • HOLY SOCKS! i cant believe how thick that needle is..... ouch

  • what if someone used the epi-pen when they were not having an allergic reaction?

  • It would basically supercharge their heart and put them into cardiac arrest eventually as in if they dont go to the hospital asap.

  • you just wated a epipen !!

  • uhh where was the needle, i didnt think you could get em out

  • The needle is in the end that looks like a pen clicker, they come out when it clicks back. When you pull it out the protective cover is supposed to slide back over the needle, but it doesnt always work that way.

  • One thing you forgot to discuss was the mark you see on the window to check if the medication was in fact put out from the pen. You will see a small red mark. If the mark isnt there after the medication is administered you may reinsert the pen into you or your patient. NOTE: You can ONLY use this pen on the person who it is prescribed to. If you have a prescription for a pen and dont have yours you cant use my pen if yours was forgotten at home.

  • Depends on the state actually. In Texas, an EMT-B is allowed to administer Epi-pens if the PT fits the criteria of needing one, whether or not they are prescribed it.

  • Epi-pens are meant to be used in emergencies. If a situation warranted its use, I find it impossible to watch someone's airways close when you could have easily administered a simple injection, and taken them to the ER... if someone has a severe allergic reaction im going to administer the epinephrine regardless of who the prescriber made the script for.

  • Actually it doesn't matter who's Pen you use it's the same dosage for everyone.

That's why Dentists carry an Epipen just in case, like silly me,you forget your Pen.

  • Is the epipen for one use and throw away?? or is good for more than one use?

  • one time use.

  • no you can use for many times.

  • no, you should never reuse a epi pen. even tho you only get about a half to two thirds of the medication out, NEVER reuse them. You are not in a sterile environment, and epi pen is a single use. Twin eject are designed to have two uses. This is because its a common misconception that epi, will fix it all, and its not true, epi buys you about 20 mins to get to the hospital

  • ok thnx for the informantion. i had the wrong idea you could reuse them from a presentation we had at school a long time ago.

  • like i said, the twin eject are designed for it, but even EMTs are not allowed to use them more then once, we must use a new one if we are going to use another. And in alot of places emts are not allowed too use them unless its the patients own. Our area protocols let us carry them but the county south doesnt.

  • more than once.

  • Great video - recent studies in the UK have shown that individuals are woefully unaware how to use this product or similar ones - "69% of parents were unable to use the Epi-Pen, did not have it available, or did not know when it should be administered." (Arkwright & Farragher, 2006 Pediatr Allergy Immunol 2006: 17: 227--229.) Good job!

  • As a Nurse who is allergic to Latex, I have an Epipen after way too many reactions that are getting worse. Plus one Anaphylaxis attack. So I carry my Pen with me always at work. But I have never seen the actual needle from an Epipen as we just shoot someone up with Adrenaline from a vile.

That's huge!!!!! Ouch. I give painless injections but I am sure that one will hurt!

    Now I'm worried.

But this is a great training video.

  • In the move crank the main charcter uses epinephrine . and it causes side afects a hard on that wont go down . and it locks him up to where he cant pee. does it cause those side afects in real life ?

  • Many!

Rapid heart rate.Difficulty/shortness of breath.Dizziness.Paleness.Weakness.Tremor.Headache.Throbbing.Sweats.Nausea/vomiting.Insomnia.Coldness.Halucinations.Restlessness.Anxiety and fear.

All these side effects you would see in someone who has an unstable BP.

You can even be allergic to the epinephrine.

Crank's a movie.I have never heard of erection as a side effect.BUT Viagra up's the BP the same as an Epi shot.So.....

  • actually you can't be allergic to epinephrine, your body makes it. a more common name for it is adrenaline.

  • that's ridiculous. You can't be allergic to epinephrine because then it wouldn't be safe to use. Your body makes it also called adrenaline on demand.

  • Actually yes the body does make adrenaline BUT the chemicals that make up epinephrine can cause an allergic reaction. And they do prescribe it because it is safer than dying of anaphalxis.EVERYONE with the Pen are warned of this.

  • I have to carry the epipen with me at all times due to my extreme allergy to bee stings, and the only 'side effects' that I have had was a numb thigh from where I stuck it in.

  • THANK YOU! im HIGHLY allergic to peanut butter. and people don't understand how big that needle is! THANKS! <3

  • it's not so easy...ever been allergic to something?

  • Thanks so much, I wasn't sure if I needed to press a button to release the needle, or press it hard against the thigh.

    Question answered :)

  • A very helpful video that gets right to the point in what you need to know.

  • Thanks! I hope I NEVER have to use ours on our daughter.

  • thanks!!!
