Actually, clogging and the other traditional "Southern" American dances have their roots in the Celtic dances. So there are some similarities between clogging and Irish.
That was amazing. I wish I'd taken more an interest in my Irish roots when I was younger. I'd love to be able to do half the crazy steps these dancers are capable of (Irish in particular, but I admire OV step too, though possessing the rhythm for neither ;))

Is Ottawa Valley style similar to Cape Bretton style? Cause that's what I was thinking they were dancing when I saw them with the Chieftains and I haven't heard of OT step before.
I also saw the Pilatzke brothers and Cara Butler with the Chieftains last year; I love the contrast of the Ottawa Valley and Irish styles

They had a blast. The guys all dance Ottawa Valley Stepdancing, which is different than Irish Stepdancing.
