to me, its seabiscuit that represents everyman, every commoner. He stared down adversity on the backstretch, stood face to face against what people considered superior and came out on top, came out running, came out defeating what we all fear most. that horse in those times showed that we can overcome anything that stands in out way. truly inspiring. :)
Woolf would never have thought it safe to allow a horse, especially a horse with the sheer ground cover War Admiral, to catch up to him when Seabiscuit was well settled in his pace. I imagine that remark would have been one out of sheer nervousness at the idea of War Admiral gaining on his tail and cursing Johnny of making him do a manouvre like that in the firstplace. IMO.
@Skatergirl1515 just like the real one ^^ (its true if you watch Seabiscut vs. War Admiral 1938 match Race) any one why Geiorge said "god damn it johny" when war admrial was catching up after he slowed down?
@TheDragonLake idk maybe because he thought war admiral was taller than biscut and he could look into his eye and like beat him maybe???? idk its a shot in the dark...
This has to be one of the most amazing true stories in history. Especially amazing because it happened during the Depression and represents man's struggle to overcome all odds. A great moment in movie history and history in general.
One of my favourite moments ever in fim history, it's just inspirational. I just don't understand how they got those horses to reinact the race so well, to be able to hold back and then just bolt, it's amazing :)
some horses need to see that the other horse can beat them, then with that they give you w whole nother gear its like people , they need compition to be the best!!!!

it's kinda hard to believe that Seabiscuit won by such a wide margin. War Admiral dominated his previous opponents and directly inherited Man o War's physique but Seabiscuit probably ran with more heart. I wonder if the two horses somehow knew or had a feeling they were related. maybe Admiral felt sorry for Seabiscuit because he was smaller.
"So long Charlie!" Gives me freakin' chills!

In the real race, the jockey was whipping the shit outta Seabiscuit on the final turn/stretch. Real Talk.

Great film, but Tobey Maguire is the weakest link. Such a lightweight actor.

why you don't think horses have feelings? you haven't had enough experience if you think that's the dumbest thing.
dhom100 2 years ago
@dhom100 or you know... they are horses... not people

I know. I'm sentimental. I like to believe animals have feelings like we do and can think to a certain degree.
