I free dive and spearfish, but I have to shoot what's around me so no water clear enough to go that deep. We're all sportsmen so why bash the way others do it. Have you viewed the free diving accidents. Death usually comes to courageous teenagers, but I've seen old farts drown too. Try to imagine, you're down 60' or 80' & realize you don't have enough breath to get back to the surface. Not because you timed it wrong or needed more time to keep that huge shark at bay, but because you had to cough or sneeze or burp or got hiccups or whatever that unknown thing is that kills free divers. I taught Marines how to drown-proof but couldn't give them gills.

@bigphillyed any pussy can spearfish on scuba try free diving from 50 to 90 feet for 4to6 hours a day. 3 to 4 days a week. and you will see why freediving spearfishing is a real challenge and skillfull sport. not to mention you better be in top shape.
well as a competitor I am speaking from an international point of view. 2nd there is no need to freedive to 80 meters to catch more than satisfactory fish. But dont worry, my 3 year old throws hissy fits too when shes contradicted.

And we don't care about your international point of view. If you read the title of the video you would see it says 6 mile reef in Stuart, Florida. Well 6 mile reef is average 80 feet, and plenty deeper in some spots. Go big or go home!

Spearfishing with a tank on is not only unsportsmanlike but illegal. Its like running a marathon using a motorcycle. Try doing it the real way, you might feel more fulfilled and at least youd be doing it right.

Secondly as far as being unsportsmanlike, let me see you freedive 80 foot water for spear fishing. You miss the point... it's not meant to be easy. You should have the skill to dive to get the fish you want. That's what makes it sporting. I.e. if you don't have the skill you don't get the fish. You may as well chuck them in your pool and shoot them there, it's the same skill level. I'll leave at that.
@pedwid12 Well, ive tried free diving and spearfishing and it didn't go so well, i can only stay down 20 feet for 12 seconds max. im 16, and i just got my scuba license so im scuba spearfishing and its still fun, actualyl better cause of the fact your breathing under water your more relaxed
My buddys and I are just getting into spearfishing. When your deep, do you have a fishbag you stick fish you spear in or a box on the bottom? We've just been free diving so havent have to worry about it as we just bring each fish up as they come. But what do you do while scuba diving, I assume you dont come up after every fish.

Set your video the fine, and use you may have to use either the blue or green sea settting. I have heard of people diving cali, having issues with the green water. So you may have to experiement with it. Also I corrected some in post. I am waiting for my housing for my new Canon HF-S10, I can't wait.
Your vids look really good but i gotta ask what are your settings at? I have the exact same camera but when I tried video recording my dives they came out absolutely horrible...I have mine set to fine quality and sea green (southern cali diver) and other than that, all default
