Sorry to be a "Moaner", but I served with Robin Winter-Smith on a British Army M/C Display Team and it hurts me to see this woman smiling when she sings about him losing his life in the way he did.
one of the first songs of hers i ever heard...must be about 20 years ago .and i've been hooked on her ever since. sweetness incarnate with a voice of steel!
@unclebobunclebob its better to write one country line of a song than to curse the darkness. Look up "Brave Mountaineers" I'd say its the best country sng that never got a chance.

Great song about a very sad event. Written by Richard Dobson. I was fortunate enough to hang out in Richard's living room when he still lived in Galveston after the 2nd annual Townes Van Zandt wake at The Old Quarter in 1999. Richard's a class act and one hell of a nice guy. This song was the first I'd heard of him and thank god and Nanci for it. Look him up folks! I see Roy Husky Jr. playin' bass in the background. Another amazing talent. Thanks for the video man...
I was at Elstree aerodrome in Herts, UK and saw Robin jump July 8th 1979, and he did indeed hit the ramp. It was a horrible event to witness that I only really rmembered yesterday and looked up the details. R.I.P.

I still miss Philip Donnelly's guitar solo from this song during Nanci's first few years of touring Ireland and Europe.

She is just amazing. I love how much joy she gets from singing. I have never even heard this song before and I thought I knew everything she did.
