Bring back the good old days of Wonder Boy and Golden Axe. Games might as well repackage themselves as movies half the time, they last about the same amount of time. This just highlights the pointlessness of picking between a brand, the only option now is too get both consoles so you're able too play the 5 or so decent games that are released a year. As for when this all began i think like you say it started with Nintendo and Sega because they were the ones too really innovate.

This is utter rubbish, the power difference is becoming more apparent with each year, i have both consoles and the Playstation is quieter has many more functions. Granted at the moment its has a weaker base of games but as developers are getting more used too its hardware the game quality is skyrocketing. Just see God of war 3 and inFamous for proof of this. I'm a supporter of both but its ridiculous too say the the price difference, this doesn't indicate the quality of the machine or its power.
