It's also interesting how you crosspick using the "drag method" (up,up, down, or down, down,up). I used to do that too until I went to a workshop with Steve Kaufman and he talked me into the "sweep" (always down, up, down, up) style. Now it's an ingrained habit. The drag style gives your fills/solos a real interesting quality.
@fetteclan Yeah, I never learned how to crosspick correctly. Pretty sure that's the reason I can't ever get Norman Blake tunes to sound right. Oh well. I would love to attend one of Kaufman's workshops. I have a video of Steve and a group of his flatpicking friends trading off licks on some standard fiddle tunes. Great stuff.
Lovely, very enjoyable job! And I think you should take Alison Krauss' advise..."learn to love your own voice" because it would be a shame if you wouldn't use it. Has a similarly pleasant quality Tony's has imo.
@reddragonready I really appreciate your comment and advice. I'm trying to get comfortable with how I sound. Singing does not come natural to me, no matter how much I wish it did. By the way, thanks for posting those great audio clips of the TRU. Great stuff! Take care,
Thanks for sharing...Great job on one of my favorite Blake songs.

Hey man, great post. I've been looking for this tune; do you reckon you could post the chords? I have trouble with that chorus. Thanks again.
