Are there any Fragile Allegiance veterans out there who know of a way to get around having to manually teleport ore from ALL of the planets you have colonised, back to your central "base" planet?
(I find it a little difficult trying to remember which of the planets I colonised that still have ore on them (espacialy when I get to 40 or more) and which planets I need not visit any more, because all the ore has been exploited).
I ended up putting symbols behind the asteroids name..
Example,named an planet euh..``planet``
With missile silo`s i put an : behind it,so its ``planet : ``
With shipyards , i put an > behind it,so its `planet > `
Spacedock..... makes it ``planet +``
So if the asteroid whas named `` planet :>+`` i instantly could see what i build on it,use the symbols you like best, this was the best way i could come up with during play.
I'll always have a soft spot for Fragile Allegiance, but ever since discovering Galactic Civilizations, there's been no turning back. It's undeniably fun to just nuke the Hell out of a rock like shown here, though.
Finally found a way to get all the sound working properly again on this awesome game. I had some sound but it sort of stuttered along and rather than enhancing the game experience it was just annoying. I used a programme called VDMSound to run the game and randomly fiddled with the settings there until it worked.
Using the VDMsound default settings wouldn't allow the game to run but after randomly changing the soundcard listed in this programme to "soundblaster pro" everything worked.
This game was amazing. one of the all time Greats! Though i don't think i ever completed a single map. i always found the micromanagement well harsh even with the employment of supervisors. but as this vid illustrates there are few games that are so satisfying when it comes to sci-fi base combat.
My favourite part was once the asteroid was mined dry you'd set up engines, missiles, and orbiting ships and turn it into a mobile mother ship/death star and use it in your assaults. God I wish they re-released this game. Also, I never could prove anyone was trading with the mona, what happens if you catch one of the races out?
If you want to play this game Dl fragile allegiance from an abandonware website, the zip must be around 10mo. also dl the ISO zip which is much bigger. Unzip 10 mo zip fragile allegiance to c:\fragile Unzip ISO zip to c:\fragile\iso Dl DOS Box Install it Run it and type : mount c c:\fragile and again : mount k c:\fragile\iso -t cdrom type : c: type : fragile Game will start and without insert cd error (Get the 10mo game, there are several other zips which wont work this way)
Bought this game when it came out, loved it a lot! Great ambient really delivered you to the space atmosphere.
I remember there was also this super missile that can destroy whole planet. It was quite an exciting moment to see if the missile made it since it was so expensive and hard to manufacture. :) Or then you could just habit a planet, make some engines to it and collide it to another one.
I have this game original and realy adicted too - i love it love music trading and others, i like if somoe make continue or remake vith more more options. :)
1) stasis bomb - freeze whole planet
2) mass missile which freeze on orbit
3) stasis worn out, all missiles fall at once.
4) instant death
i loved this game. Laser battles was awesome.

The image of that colossal red cloud heading towards the asteroid on the map is hilarious. The inevitable payoff is equally good ^_^
