@TotalNonstopAction97 Well Duke 3D APPEARS to be 3D, but really it renders in 2D using tricks to make it look 3D. Very clever, Doom did the same thing 3 years before it. All the props in the game are 2D sprites. But it's engine does some clever stuff that not even Doom could do, like sector over sector mapping. and angled surfaces, and other things.

@onedoomedspacemarine why ruin a classic? I personally think the hi res pack makes everything look very out of place and just weird. I prefer the original graphics because everything feels right. There isent one texture or block thats a higher resolution than the other. But thats just what i think.

In fact you can download the HRP pack which uses the games original "Build" engine, but extra code allows the engine to render 3D models, and the game is modren like new! Just type in on YouTube "Duke Nukem 3D HRP", and have a look. All of us PC gamers are enjoying it along with the 10,000 fan made maps which are also free downloads :)

@onedoomedspacemarine You cant have HRP for Xbox...but HRP is a bit overated. Yes it has some modren textures, but the power cost to the system is enormus. Plus the monsters look strange and there some bugs (still) like the monsters wont quit shaking, and when you freeze them they keep moving, etc - I have HRP installed, but I never use it. I always play in original "8-bit mode".

What the Xbox players are missing though, are those extra maps you can DL and play, made by fans.

Yea it was also 1996, the biggest OS at the time was Windows 95! Back then people made great games to carry those horrible graphics, great music, outstanding story, one of a kind characters, now a days its the complete opposite, games look beautiful, but have no depth, no staying power, terrible atmospheres, and have a life expectancy of a couple months, to this day, people still play SNES games on emulators, Duke3D on PC's and game consoles because they were just that fucking good

I think they should scrap Duke Nukem Forever, cause It's obviously never gunna come out, and start fresh. I was thinkin "Duke Nukem Finale." (It's a play on words. Finale would be pronounced "finally" as if to say "finally we made a fuckin game!!!") and the game's soundtrack would be composed mostly by Chris Kline (Vertexguy) and Megadeth. It would be rated M and have all of teh blood, gore and tits you can squeeze in. I'll be more controversial than Manhunt 2!!!
