  • i love your work ...is amazing!!!

U have a new fan from Mexico!

  • Thank you very much, cookiecrecia. You're very kind. California salutes Mexico! :^)

  • why does everyone jump???

  • Hi nevercook. For the simple reason that jumping is easier to animate than a convincing walk. I'm still learning that. :^)

  • for walking, it wouldnt really work for this, but type in pivot stickfigure animator walking tutorial, pivot is a sceletal based animation program, then just follow the basic rules from there and apply it to walking, i dont know how helpful ive been, but i just really like your work so i thought id comment XD

  • Thank you very much for the Pivot tip, RazeAnimations. I'll check it out. I'm teaching myself AfterEffects, too. It's also a problem of proportion, and how many moving parts I put into each Monster. A lot of times I end up with characters walking like the Peanuts. :^)

  • oh my gosh wow do i feel stupid now, but thanks

  • No reason to feel stupid because you didn't recognize a Sharpie. It's a bigger size, and you don't see those around as much.

  • and you hand was covering most of it... but amazing drawing.

  • Good point, WaterFor3st. :^D I'm glad you like the drawing.

  • hey what is that thick black pen

  • Hello KatVanz. That's a Sharpie.

  • dude are you drawing upside down??? wow talent there, and writing upside down, im jealous of your artwork and your upside down skills

  • My upside down skills! HA! That's excellent! It sounds so Spiderman! Thank you, toryrocks! And yes, I'm drawing upside down. Purely to show off, though. :^)

  • Oh! You are so talented, I´m quite bit jealous.

  • Thank you very much, jossujb. You're very kind. :^)

  • that is probably one of the best pieces of art work iv ever seen....SICK, YOU RULE!!

  • Thank you, NIntendoProductions1. I'm glad you like 105. He was done for my UK friend Russell Davies and his INTERESTING conference. :^)

  • you are fucking amazing

  • Thank you very much, wowomg15. I really appreciate that. :^)

  • NO PROB DUDE WILL YOU EVER DRAW SOMETHING FOR Me?!?

  • Thank you, EndlessChatter. I'm glad you like the monsters!

  • Hey, great monster! I was watching this then thought; i wonder what number one looked like. It was superb, and still you are replying to comments, you must get loads of messages. Another thing was how long do these monsters averagely take you?

  • Hi there, Th3d3ad99. I'm glad you liked old Number 1, too. The first monsters took about ten minutes to draw, now it's more like 20 minutes. (All those teeth, and shoes, and hair! :^)

  • this is so amazing and funny i like it a lot

the sound in the backround is like in a dentits surgery

  • Ha! Yes, the little suction noise. I know what you mean.

  • hope you could make me a vid

    with a monster and

has my name on it,my name is mark kelly espina, 18,from the philippines... and i like to draw...but my drawings are lame compared to yours...your just plain brilliant!...i dont know about your popularity here but..i know your damn good...heheheh...hope you could make me one...thanks!

  • Hi there, Mark. Thank you very much for your kind words. I'm glad you like the monsters. You can order original monster drawings on my site store344, but I don't film those.

In the meantime, I doubt that your drawings are lame. Maybe you'll download one of the Open Source Ink Blots on the dailymonster site and make a monster of your own. E-mail it to me and I'll post it!

  • how much do all ur maker pens and fine liners cost? and what brandes would u recomend gettin?

  • Hello ugotnockedthefuckout. I use Faber-Castell PITT artist pens, Staedtler pigment liners, Tombo ABT pens, Sharpies (fine point and wedge tip), and Yasutomo Sumi ink on regular old uncoated bond paper. The pens cost between $2 and $3 each. The ink is less than $10 for a canister that will last you well over a year.

  • kl thanks man

  • how do you do that with the spray, do you have in mind what you want to do??

  • i love the fact that all of your monsters seem to be wearing fuzzy turtle necks =)

  • They're just so stylish, don't you think?

  • the black shoes are to die for *waves hand*...

cough just humiliated my self on the internet =)

  • All of these videos are really cool..... I cannot begin to imagine how the animation is done.

  • -_- its drawn and speeded up.

  • No, the animation at the end, i think.

  • For the animation at the end I use an application called "Anime Studio 5." It's cheap and simple, and it gets the job done.

  • You're one of the few people I know that reply to comments on their videos.

  • Well, you're taking the time to comment, so I can certainly take the time to answer. :^)

  • What a guy...:)

  • LOL he scares me looks a bit like my dad... :P

  • I really like your work,Whats the Name-brand of your Finest Pointed Pen?

  • Hi Kevin. Thanks. I'm glad you like the monsters. My finest pointed pen (say it three times fast!) is a slightly dried up Staedtler PIgment LIner 0.05.

  • Okay! Thanks,I might Just Put up a vid like yours someday!

  • When you do, please let me know! I'd love to see what you do! In the meantime, you might do an Open Source Monster at dailymonster-com. You can download ink blots on the site and make your own creatures. I post the results every few days.

  • Oh! Cool,I'll Look in to That...

  • I prefer the monsters that look nothing like people, but that's just me, I guess...

  • Hi Zaning. No, it's not just you. I've been doing a lot of humanoid monsters lately, because they lend themselves well to animation. But I'm going to do a little series of old school monsters. They won't be animated, but that'll give me the freedom to make them a little weirder. We'll see how it goes.

  • I just started a little thing called the BONUS MONSTERS on the dailymonster site that go back in the direction of the first monsters. Please check it out sometime!

  • amazing^^

what kind of paper do you use?

i tried to create something like that, too

but the paper always absorbs the ink much too fast

  • I have this problem too! Also, The paper often let's the ink through, and stains whatevers below it.

  • exactly

  • Hi xZwolle and Zaning. I'm sorry you're having paper problems. The paper I use is actually the standard multi-purpose bond paper you can get at the big office supply stores. I use Yasutomo Sumi Ink with it. Sometimes it does soak through, definitely once the Sharpies come in, but that's OK... That's why I use cheap paper. (I also recycle the wasted sheets in my printer.)

Send me some of your monsters sometime and I'll put'em up on the site.

  • great

  • why does this monster remind me of Jamie from the Mythbusters?

  • Oh yeah.. You're right! I can see that!

  • i thought the exact same thing once i saw it. This has to be one of the funniest monsters yet, laughed my ass off when. All you need now is an Adam monster. excellent work Stefan.

  • Your ability to draw upside down amazes me. But i've always wondered; why do you bleed parts of their bodies onto another sheet of paper?

  • Hello Wirevo. I'm glad you're enjoying the monsters. They start with a random blob of ink, so I don't actually know what each one will look like. I discover that only as I'm drawing. With this one, for example, I had no idea that it would have a giant boot and two wooden legs until I drew them. It's ink-improv. The drawings grow as they want to. Sometimes they need a second sheet of paper.

  • Ah, makes sense. Thanks :)
