Just look at the pompous arrogant thing. Wilson was our worst president, needlessly involving us in the First World War. If filthy rich Americans want to go sailing on a British flagship into a war zone, that is their problem, not ours.

Wilson, after ardently promising to "keep us out of war" during the 1916 presidential campaign in which he barely was re-elected, asked Congress to declare war shortly after his inauguration. So much for integrity.

The Founding Fathers set up a government wherein the legislative, judicial, and executive branches were to serve as "checks and balances" for the others, so that one of them wouldn't gain too much power. Wilson, more than any other president before him, established the idea that the president should propose the laws and act without consent of Congress; we suffer greatly from this imbalance of power today.

On a more positive note, LOL: the best presidents, IMO, were the ones who respected the laws, the Constitution, and gave us peace. Therefore, my favorites are George Washington, J.Q. Adams, Van Buren, Tyler, Grant, Hayes, Arthur, Cleveland, T. Roosevelt, Harding, Coolidge & Eisenhower. I believe JFK was seeing the light and would have been great,. No historian agrees with me; I don't care.

You do a grave disservice to Warren Harding, our most underestimated president, who undid a lot of the grievous harms that Wilson brought about, but couldn't stem the tide of Imperialism, racism, or undo the IRS or Fed; Bush, of course, is Wilson's spirituall heir, and Buchanan should have done more. Wilson was the worst, hands down, and a terrible man.
Harding was a crook,as bad or worse than Bush OR even Nixon for that matter.
The IRS was started in 1953. Bush is about a million times dummer than Wilson. Stop trying to change history so it suits your purposes.Wilsonm was not perfect, but he was a hell of a lot better than the others from him to FDR. By the way "nationbuilding" had been around since at least the 1890's, as well as racism.

The 16th Amendment to the Constitution was ratified and supported by Wilson in 1913, which instituted the federal income tax. As to my "changing history," historians have been doing this since day one! They tend to idolize charismatic orators who plunged us into unnecessary bloodbaths ( yes, WW I was unnecessary for us, even Churchill said so ), spending sprees, and erosion of civil liberties. I have all the facts to back up my assertions, do you?
The first federal income tax was imposed(under Article I, section8, clause 1 of the Constitution)during the Civil War, then again in the 1890's, and finnaly as the

Yes, Lincoln the dictator imposed that tax, but from 1865 to 1913 we lived very well without it. The fact is it did happen under Wilson; you are just grasping splitting hairs in order to hero worship every Democrat. IMO Grover Cleveland was the best Democrat who ever served as President.
i just showed you the facts and you say I'm "splitting hairs". I guess you didn't read my other comments about Nixon, who was by the way, a Republican.

You completely ignore all of the facts I lay out in all of my comments, especially about the draft, WW I, and the Palmer raids! How can you admire such a tyrant as Wilson and such a mentally unstable and dangerous liar who nearly wrecked the country as Nixon? These two should have been imprisoned for crimes against humanity and tried as war criminals.
I just debunked all your facts and you say he's a tyrant. He helped bring about one of the great progressive movments in America. Nixon was not as bad as someone like Hurbert Hoover who sent us into a Depression for nearly a decade and did nothing about it.

The unnecessary and horrible involvement in WW I, the institution of slavery by forcing young men to die in that war (the draft), the establishment of the Federal Reserve and the national income tax, the Sedition Act of 1918, the Palmer raids, the imprisonment of women who wanted to vote, racist policies by not hiring blacks, the belief we have the right to save the world, etc. Long list of horrors.
Its called the Espionage Act. The Palmer raids went after radicals in the United States who were trying to overthrow the government. True, Wilson was a white supremist and was unfair to both blacks and women. Wilson appointed one of the first black ambassidors to Liberia. The twenieth amendment to the constitution was passed in 1920 and signed during his adminstration.

You seem to be a political partisan, i.e., if the President is a Democrat everything is ignored or forgiven, while any infraction by a Republican is an excuse for condemnation.
I don't imply in any way Democrats were Saints and Republicans were all bad people who ruined the country. Both sides did bad things and both sides did good things. I have great respect for Lincoln,Theodore Roosevelt, and Eisenhower. Buchanan,Pierce, and Cater were very bad Presidents. I give credit to both sides of the fence.

5,000 resident aliens were arrested by Attorney General Palmer, using brutal techniques without proper warrants or a right to counsel or information as to why people were being arrested or a right to appeal; this is dictatorship, and laid the groundwork for George W. Bush's similar policies. The Palmer raids didn't find any real subversives under its police state actions.
Lincoln did the same thing as President. I didn't say it was right; every leader has done something wrong. Wilson was not the worst, not even one of the worst.

I would be interested to know which U.S. Presidents you think were the best for our country, and what your criteria are for making that assessment. My criteria for ranking Presidents are peace, prosperity, civil liberties, and respect for the law and U.S. Constitution. I am extremely wary of what I am told to believe by partisan, idolatrous "historians" and "experts;" I make my own opinions.

Your just plain stupid if you think the President we have now is worse than the one we had the past 7 1/2 years. He's only been in for 6 and a half months. Hardly a suffecent time period for any President.

Tsk tsk, resorting to personal insults? You weaken any argument you might have, although you don't have one. Where on my comment did I say the current President was worse than his predecessor? You are making up things and putting words in my mouth instead of giving a cogent rebuttal. The widened war in Afghanistan and our continued presence in Iraq are intolerable; his economic policies make Reagan's look sane. Who cares if the new President speaks well?
I apologise for calling you stupid. How am I making up things? Obama has not
gone back of any of his promises. He's set about closing GITMO, repairing our image around the world, stop the banks from failing, help get us out of a needless war,and so much more. He has only been in as I said for not even half a year. None of this happened after Obama became President; It was George W. Bush.

President HArding was not a crook; Richard Nixon was. He has been overly faulted for the scandals in his Administration. Harding championed a restrained and sane foreign policy, set good economic policies, had some of the best cabinet members in history, pardoned Wilson's political prisoners of state, was a strong advocate for the rights of minorities, and was successful at arms control; peace and prosperity were his watchwords. I love him.
Teapot Dome.Resignation of Hardings AG for accepting bribes. Secretary of the Interior Albert Fall sent to prison. Had several illegitimate kids. Had the RNC pay one of his other women $50,000+ to keep quiet and sent her to Japan. Nixon set up the EPA,ended the Vietnam War,opened up China, signed SALT I with the Soviet Union, launched war on Cancer. Nixon is MUCH better than Harding ever was or will be.
