I've tried all sorts of diets and what works best for me is high raw vegetarian. Some eggs, some cooked vegetables, beans, potatoes, etc. I found this grounded my energy and left me feeling much more balanced than completely raw. Some of us need heartier foods, although I do think it's good to eat 100% raw for shorter periods of time when the body calls for it. I also juice fast often to clean and recharge my system. It works.
It's good to see people with some objectivity and a good head on their shoulders. I'm not saying which diet is best, but I do believe you should listen to your body and not brainwash yourself into something that isn't working for you. Many vegans won't admit it becaue it challenges their belief system. Listen to your body and take care of it and it will last you a long long time.
@NemeanLion I agree with you about listening to ones body although my cravings have often draw me towards things which were not always the healthiest choices. In spite of my inability to stay 100 percent raw my health is far better eating more raw foods.
@kdaveem Were you listening to your body, or your brain? Because your brain will steer you torwards food that give it pleasure and not what is necessarily healthy for your body over the long term. If your body is showing you a lessened performance or even illness, then it's your body that's speaking to you.
@NemeanLion That sounds reasonable. Measuring ones long term physical performance would seem like a good indicator although I wonder if long term performance is always going to be the healthiest diet in the long run. Anyway I mostly agree with you here.

@KravJitsu1 Juicing seemed to help although I am also getting fatigued at times. When it gets to unbearable I allow myself to eat some non vegan foods for a day or Two and then go back to raw foods again as much as possible. Even though I'm not a 100 percent vegan raw fooder I'm still getting lots of benefits from all the greens and fruit I have been eating. I don't think it needs to be an all of nothing deal.
Have been 95% raw to 100% raw for 10 years. First went raw 18 years ago but went back and forth for several years. Always feel great and look great when I'm doing 100% raw foods as long as I'm doing mostly fresh foods and no raw cacao which depletes the adrenals. Agree it may not be for everyone. same thing happens to me, i didn't eat fats when i was 100% raw and I still got sick. We don't have enough digestive fire. I started vomiting all the time. Went to the naturopath and was told to get off of the all raw. 80/10/10 really made me vomit! I eat all organic local, no grains and some cooked.
Hello. I am not a raw foodist. But I have been curious. Like most of us, I have a hard time finding sources to answer many of my questions. Please read 'the 80/10/10 diet', by Dr Doug Graham. I think it's the only way to do the raw food diet in the long run without any health problems. I've done it for 8 months and it's been the best thing i've done in my life, i'm a competitive athlete and it gives me so much energy. It emphasizes getting enough calories from fruit and keeping very low fat intake. The author has followed this diet for nearly 30 years, he's in his late 50s and super fit, a great guy as well, real genuine.

Thanks for sharing. i know a Raw Food Life Style Needs more of a scientific approach. People, who don't know much about nutrition shouldn't start it if they don't want to mess their health up.
I've been a raw vegan since 2004. I started out at 85 percent raw and then went to 100 percent raw for 2-1/2 years and then early this year went to 95-100 percent raw. The first 1-2 years of going raw I had ups and downs with detoxification symptoms. Over the years they get less and less while noticing increasing sense of well being. Are you assimilating the nutrients well, maximizing toxic waste elimination, and is there circulation or cell communication blockages?
@rawfooddoctor So you have ANY facts to back up your statements, sound like a lot of Internet folklore. Detox....huh, Raw,....huh???? How do you know your "ups and downs" were not from some other cause...or maybe your imagination.
i am a vegan for 6 months now and i m only begining now to turn into raw vegan. it was very easy for me to stop eating animal products. i never crave them. but the only thing thats really hard for me is ginving up bread.
However one thing my body loves is Banana-blueberry smothie. it tastes great in the morning and really gives me a lot of energy.
Listen to your body. Feed it what it craves. My body craves seeds, grains, protein, fruit, avocados, with few veggies( combined properly of course). I get enough energy to jump around all day. Where as before, I would eat 80% veggies and I would feel just as you described.
I experience the same thing, colonics make a huge difference. Enemas really good too, especially coffee- detoxes the liver. I can't recommend Doctor Doug Graham's book The 80 10 10 diet enough, when I eat this way I can stay raw and thrive. It's really simple and makes so much sense.
Appreciate your tone of inquiry. I've eaten all raw, or nearly all raw, for nearly 20 years. From listening to your vid, I didn't feel like I got a clearer enough picture of what you are up to exactly. What works for me is eating lots and lots of fresh fruit (that's ripe and in season) and lots and lots of garden fresh vegetables (picked that day). With that as central to my diet, I have plently of energy to work all day and exercise. Good luck to you.
After three weeks I felt weak and lightheaded. I then added small amounts (1/4 cup) of cooked animal protein minus red meat in my morning meal which boosted my energy and took away the lightheadness. I'm not 100% raw but I feel much better. I think some people can do it and others can't we all have different needs.
the reason you do down hill etc.... is because your body is detoxing when you detox. your body goes through bumps also, sugar addiction like drugs go through a withdrawl and, of course cook foods make you feel ill because they are toxic. YOUR GOING THROUGH SUGAR WITHDRAWL AND FAT YOU THINK YOU NEED IT AND YOUR HAVING DRUG WITHDRAWL SYMPTOMS BECAUSE HIGH FAT FOOD IS LIKE A DRUG SO YOU WILL HAVE WIERD THINGS HAPPEN UNTIL YOUR BODY ADJUSTS. PLUS YOUR NOT DOING IT RIGHT.
I have also read "Eat Right for Your Blood Type' . When i cut all meat out and stay raw I have tons of energy. But i am type A so this is a perfect way of eating for me. That being said you may be able to incorporate some meat into your diet and see what happens, but keep up with an abundance of raw fruits and vegetables.
Raw 8 months w/ no problems. Lost 25 lbs. 1st 2 months but happy to lose the weight and have kept it off. I start juicing next week and look forward to that. I started this diet after learning from video lectures by Dr. Klaper and Dr. Barnard that my SAD diet leads to cancer and heart disease. My uncle got prostate cancer by my age 54 and 2 of his 3 older brothers had prostate cancer. I don't feel any different on this diet.
The raw food diet I promote took away my immense spaciness and nicely grounded me. Sleep is more restorative than it's ever been. Also, my diet allows that if u ever do wind up trying a cooked food, the biggest reaction is usually a slowing of detox. Protein, the right kind, gives energy. We have other calcium foods at night. This diet restores digestion. Just about everything counters. Raw is not the problem, it's lack of vital nutrients & replacing them w indigestible fiber. Best regards to u.
Green Smoothies are awesome, but I found I couldn't handle the banana's. Funny how when we listen to our bodies we find things that bother us. I wish you well, and hope you good health.
Have you ever read, Eat Right for Your Blood type.. if you are a type o you need to eat protien. I had the same problem as you I became weaker and weaker eating all raw. Now a type A probably could eat all raw, because A's should eat basically a vegetarian diet. Once I began eating protien I felt a lot better. Good luck to you!
@rosuabsc Yea I read a good part of the book and it said I'm suppose to be a vegetarian which doesn't work for me. Like many other people I go through different needs at different times. Sometimes all raw is good and sometimes some cooked meat is helpful.
@rosuabsc Have you tried not eating carbs with protien, eat fruit alone. I found if I eat protien with a carb like a potato I am sick, but if I eat it with just a salad I do great. Also if I eat fruit, I eat it alone. I wish you well! God Bless!
@rosuabsc Food combining can be helpful at times but not always. I started doing green smoothies every day and that seems to be helping my over all health. I rotate the greens I use in the smoothies as Victoria Boutenko suggests.
well people do complain about not being healthy for the most part. And they all wonder why. They are not simply in tune with themselves, and always listening to everyone else but their bodies.
alot of people consider themselves as rawfoodist, yet they consume processed water, bottled water, cooked water or even worst, water that comes from the tap!...we are roughly 75 to 80% percent water.. think about that! so thats important.. drinking water from springs is the ideal way to reach a higher level of health.. Daniel Vitalis can help you in this quest by giving u a full run down on how this is important and why it works..
@ Organicscientist - Most people do not live near a spring. Reality Ck - how about solutions that more than only a handful of people can benefit from? Novel ideal I know.
A raw food diet is great..... for cleansing!.. although eating foods such as fruits and vegetables are A MUST due to their high water content and their simply nutrient dense foods, they still lack certain other important nutrients that body needs that F&V doest contain. one of the main concerns that people must ask themselves is this: "Where is your drinking water coming from"?
You will detox, that is what happens when you go raw. And you will be sick. Your body maybe reaching health - through detox.
I have personally learned to trust my body - but it was a water fast and that is different- it was a harder and quicker detox. But i KNEW without a doubt, I was better.
You should talk to a coach. Raw food detox is slower, so you may be worried about what is going on.
@kristababayy On some level I may have been detoxing but after many attempts to go raw my conclusion is that it's probably not right for me at this time. I eat as much raw food as I can but trying to force myself beyond a certain point seem to do more harm than good.
Thanks for doing this video. I think it is important to illustrate that health is not ONE SIZE FITS ALL. God did not design us that way. We have individual needs and each individual needs to find what works for them personally.
Sorry about the extra long post, but as I dealt with fatigue and weakness that I thought might never be healed, I just wanted to say that if you're still dealing with some health issues and you found the raw foods didn't work for you, then you might try the route that I took. One way is if there is a Chinese Medicine School near you, where you can get student treatments that are supervised by experienced doctor-professors. It is a whole different mind-set, but may work for you . Good Luck!
One thing I noticed in reading the comments is that nobody seemed to mention maintaining a steady blood sugar level. Just a thought, but if you're hypoglycemic, as I was back then, and eat lots of fruit, it will really mess with your blood sugar, and this will have negative effects on your long term health. What finally worked for me, albeit a little more expensive, was Chinese Medicine. I had some acupuncture done over a few months, and took herbs for about 9 months, which healed me.
Hey, just watched your video. Sounds like there are a lot of different ideas about what caused your difficulties. I also was at a point of low energy a couple years ago, and was also quite thin at the time. I tried raw foods for a little while, but was too cold, and gave me short-term boosts, but did not help much in the end. I'm now in much better health, up to a normal weight, and have good energy, but took a different approach, which I'll describe in the next post.
I applaud you on making this vid. Most raw vegans aren't honest about how the diet is going for them. I have been raw 10+yrs. Vegan raw didn't work for me. The Primal diet pulled me out of sickness of mind and body. Veganism is a result of a sick society that's only going to get sicker. Check out Aajonus Vonderplanitz's We Want to LIve. All the best on your journey :)
@benny354 I didn't count calories but I can say my problems on the raw food diet was not from a lack of calories. I had plenty to eat including lots of green smoothies but it didn't work for me. I think raw foods are an important part of my diet but not doing it 100 percent.
I would suggest a series of colonics. You may not be releasing the years of toxins that are being brought to the surface by the raw foods.
Also, the raw food diet may not be right for you. In The Sunfood Diet Success System, David Wolfe says "...the all-raw diet may not be appropriate for everyone, especially those with an extreme vata dosha (excessive thinness), a preponderance of air and water in their constitution or those who do not have the physical and emotional grounding for it."
Good stuff... i went 85% raw for a few months. Then my mom came into town and we ate out every day for 2 weeks. Needless to say it wrecked havoc on my body
Thank you very much for sharing your experiences with this type of lifestyle. Keep in mind that once you go raw for a continuous amount of time, you will begin to detox. Detox comes in numerous forms. Fatigue, nausea, etc. Colon hydrotherapy is excellent for flushing out the accumulated toxicity in our bodies.
The raw food diet without colonic hydrotherapy doesn't work.
I experienced the same problems with the guy on the video after 2 months and I was ready to give up when I learned about colonic s and how important it is to have them .I had 7 colonic s in 2 months during green juice fasting and never looked back again.I feel GREAT.RAW food diet is the diet of the new millennium .
What other people have said, it seems to me you aren't eating enough fruit or just too much fat. Men have ot have waay more Calories than women, I try to eat max 10 fruits a day, or 1-2 liter/kilos of it a day to stay energized and get all my vitamins and minerals, I need to eat more greens I know, I get lazy with not making salads sometimes.. I would suggest you read some large books about this, an amazing book with everything is: The Live Food Factor, I recommend you read!! I recommend it 100%
On going raw, I felt great initially but after a month or so my fatigue kept coming back.
My problem was the amount of fat I was consuming. Once I totally cut out all fat foods (nuts, seeds, oil, avocado etc) then I started to feel FANTASTIC!
SO TRUE!!! finally an honest rawfood vlog... so many people say this diet will turn you into superman! it's so frustrating, i had an absolutely terrible experience on prolonged raw, like you said it's great for a month then i would crash SO HARD! depression, fatigue, dizzy, fuzzy minded. i think it's ideal for detoxing every now and then but a permanent diet? i am not completely convinced...
I agree that 80/10/10 is ideal raw diet, try reading that book.
as far as not getting enough calories we have to eat large quantitys of fruits and greens! if your not going to get enough calories you are bound to going back to cooked foods.
and your sensitive to cooked foods because they are toxic so your digestive tract builds up a mucos to protect itself from the toxicity when you eat raw vegan it lets its gaurd down.
Hi, I like your video, it is very genuine, I wish you luck.
I have experimented with raw foods on and off (a lot of OFF time) since 2000.
From my experience, I think that the Doug Graham 80/10/10 approach is the best, and the only method I utilize when I am eating raw.
I would recommend getting familiar with Graham's version of raw foods on an intellectual level, and comparing it to other information you come across. Find his website, FAQ page and forums.
I have taken spirulina and bee pollen at times, but not on a consistent basis. I noticed bee pollen upset my stomach, so I could only take a few grains of it, but Spirulina was helpful in that it seem to help me overcome my need for sugar.
You becoming sensitive to cooked food is a good thing. Cooked food is bad for us, as much as we hate to admit it. When doing an all raw diet, one must study it well to make sure they will be able to sustain themselves. Their are so many different approaches to raw food, it's hard to pick one and follow it. Your body is the only thing you can truly trust. 80/10/10 works for some, not others. Hippocrates diet is highly researched. Keep on searching for more info cause raw food is ideal
I understand what you saying, but in my case it seemed as though being so sensitive to cooked food was not a good thing, since I was not able to remain on a 100 percent raw food diet.
the longer you stay on a raw food diet, the less you will craved cooked food. noone is forcing cooked food down your mouth that's for sure. also diet is only one part of complete health. you need to exercise, get plenty of sleep and rest, fresh air, sunlight. You may have years of cleansing to do still. Alot of people don't experience true health for several years on a raw food diet because of the abuse they put their bodies through. Stick with it man, dead food makes dead bodies ; )
Read Victoria Boutenko's book, Raw family. She talks about the "danger" of eating raw and going back to cooked food. If my memory serves me correctly, she says that the body builds up defenses against cooked food that go away when you eat raw food...If you go back to cooked food, you will put yourself at a bigger risk than before eating raw food.
She is correct about cooked food having a bad effect on us after we have been on a raw diet. Hopefully at some point I will discover how to stay on a raw diet all the time.
I agree with swevensent you were probably way undereating. Huge fruit meals are the way to go, for instance I eat a 10 banana meal almost every day and can easily eat half to a full watermelon. If you steadily increase your fruit until your eating enough to sustain your ideal weight, you'll never have a problem on this diet, again. I also recommend a low-fat approach and big up's to Dr. Graham, his book is fantastic and he knows what he's talking about.
You mention skinniness a few times in this video, both in your case as well as that of a friend of yours who runs. Especially because it sounds like he bonked out (ran out of blood sugar), I'm really getting the idea that what all of you have/had in common was that you were undereating. It can be tricky at first, but you have to remember that fresh, whole plants, while nutrient-dense, are energy-sparse when compared to the cooked foods most of us are used to. This is why gorillas eat all day.
Luckily we are unlike them in that we are frugivores, not herbivores, and we thrive on lots of fruit. Plenty of greens on the side, of course.
I was about 130 pounds when I went raw--and I'm not short--and lost a few initially. Water, mucus, fat. Now I'm 145 and gaining steadily with low bodyfat. I don't tend to think in terms of calories, but they make for a good metric: I target at least 2500 per day. As you might imagine, I consider fitness an important part of health.
The people who commented before me no doubt mean well, but ultimately, I don't think your difficulties have been caused by lack of imported superfoods or insufficient intake of inorganic ocean-sourced salt. Just not enough food!
I found this video searching for material related to Doug Graham... if I were in your shoes, I'd really take a closer look at his 80/10/10 diet. I also recommend you look up durianrider here on Youtube (second video in my favorites as of tonight).
Aphrocacao is absolutely right about the cleansing! I can't stress that enough. I've been on raw foods for 15 years. It's all about the cleansing. Colonics, saunas, and liver flushing. Look up Gravity East Village and listen to the Vitality shows. Especially the ones with Dr. Fred Bisci. Feel free to call the office for advice!
Sounds like after a while you start to detoxify which is normal. I'd get a colonic, and perhaps do some liver/colon cleansing. Superfoods that you like and agree with you and greens are the most important. Consider adding in superfoods like cacao, maca, spirulina, goji berries etc. Minimize sugar/starch. Drink plenty of spring water with celtic sea salt to stay hydrated and to flush toxins out. It also sounds like you would do great with blended food.
Listen to your body. Feed it what it craves. My body craves seeds, grains, protein, fruit, avocados, with few veggies( combined properly of course). I get enough energy to jump around all day. Where as before, I would eat 80% veggies and I would feel just as you described.
HealthQuestion 1 year ago
I experience the same thing, colonics make a huge difference. Enemas really good too, especially coffee- detoxes the liver. I can't recommend Doctor Doug Graham's book The 80 10 10 diet enough, when I eat this way I can stay raw and thrive. It's really simple and makes so much sense.
Much love to you

Appreciate your tone of inquiry. I've eaten all raw, or nearly all raw, for nearly 20 years. From listening to your vid, I didn't feel like I got a clearer enough picture of what you are up to exactly. What works for me is eating lots and lots of fresh fruit (that's ripe and in season) and lots and lots of garden fresh vegetables (picked that day). With that as central to my diet, I have plently of energy to work all day and exercise. Good luck to you.
PiedPiper97601 1 year ago
Dr. Douglas Graham and the 80/10/10 diet. 80 percent carb 10 protein 10 fat. You can't go wrong. You simply might not eating enough.

I wish you well, and hope you good health.
rosuabsc 1 year ago
Have you ever read, Eat Right for Your Blood type.. if you are a type o you need to eat protien. I had the same problem as you I became weaker and weaker eating all raw. Now a type A probably could eat all raw, because A's should eat basically a vegetarian diet. Once I began eating protien I felt a lot better. Good luck to you!
rosuabsc 1 year ago
@rosuabsc Yea I read a good part of the book and it said I'm suppose to be a vegetarian which doesn't work for me. Like many other people I go through different needs at different times. Sometimes all raw is good and sometimes some cooked meat is helpful.
kdaveem 1 year ago
@rosuabsc Have you tried not eating carbs with protien, eat fruit alone. I found if I eat protien with a carb like a potato I am sick, but if I eat it with just a salad I do great. Also if I eat fruit, I eat it alone. I wish you well! God Bless!
rosuabsc 1 year ago

0rganicscientist 2 years ago
You will detox, that is what happens when you go raw. And you will be sick. Your body maybe reaching health - through detox.
I have personally learned to trust my body - but it was a water fast and that is different- it was a harder and quicker detox. But i KNEW without a doubt, I was better.
You should talk to a coach. Raw food detox is slower, so you may be worried about what is going on.
kristababayy 2 years ago
@kristababayy On some level I may have been detoxing but after many attempts to go raw my conclusion is that it's probably not right for me at this time. I eat as much raw food as I can but trying to force myself beyond a certain point seem to do more harm than good.

Thanks for doing this video. I think it is important to illustrate that health is not ONE SIZE FITS ALL. God did not design us that way. We have individual needs and each individual needs to find what works for them personally.
greatbydesign33 1 year ago
Sorry about the extra long post, but as I dealt with fatigue and weakness that I thought might never be healed, I just wanted to say that if you're still dealing with some health issues and you found the raw foods didn't work for you, then you might try the route that I took. One way is if there is a Chinese Medicine School near you, where you can get student treatments that are supervised by experienced doctor-professors. It is a whole different mind-set, but may work for you . Good Luck!
mschor 2 years ago
One thing I noticed in reading the comments is that nobody seemed to mention maintaining a steady blood sugar level. Just a thought, but if you're hypoglycemic, as I was back then, and eat lots of fruit, it will really mess with your blood sugar, and this will have negative effects on your long term health. What finally worked for me, albeit a little more expensive, was Chinese Medicine. I had some acupuncture done over a few months, and took herbs for about 9 months, which healed me.
mschor 2 years ago

Interesting, did you get your 3000 calories of ripe sweet fruits? If not, I can definitely see where you would have problems.
benny354 2 years ago
@benny354 I didn't count calories but I can say my problems on the raw food diet was not from a lack of calories. I had plenty to eat including lots of green smoothies but it didn't work for me. I think raw foods are an important part of my diet but not doing it 100 percent.

I'm not sure if eating raw meat is safe. Is this something you do?
kdaveem 2 years ago
I would suggest a series of colonics. You may not be releasing the years of toxins that are being brought to the surface by the raw foods.
Also, the raw food diet may not be right for you. In The Sunfood Diet Success System, David Wolfe says "...the all-raw diet may not be appropriate for everyone, especially those with an extreme vata dosha (excessive thinness), a preponderance of air and water in their constitution or those who do not have the physical and emotional grounding for it."

Good stuff... i went 85% raw for a few months. Then my mom came into town and we ate out every day for 2 weeks. Needless to say it wrecked havoc on my body
shoozey 2 years ago 2
Same thing happened to me. 85% seems the best way to go too.

Once I totally cut out all fat foods (nuts, seeds, oil, avocado etc) then I started to feel FANTASTIC!
eatmoreraw 2 years ago 2
SO TRUE!!! finally an honest rawfood vlog... so many people say this diet will turn you into superman! it's so frustrating, i had an absolutely terrible experience on prolonged raw, like you said it's great for a month then i would crash SO HARD! depression, fatigue, dizzy, fuzzy minded. i think it's ideal for detoxing every now and then but a permanent diet? i am not completely convinced...
supermaniabros 2 years ago
Honestly, I haven't had these dramatic problems going raw but I did it very gradually and introduced new species of food, organically grown.
There really is no known link between depression and raw food. There is nothing in cooked food to explain this.
Without data on elimination diets there is no way of generalizing your experiences.
Chrisisms 2 years ago
Either you were eating too much fats (avocadoes, nuts, and seeds) or you weren't eating enough fruit to meet your daily caloric requirements.

I've been there too, but I decided to stick to raw foods to see if it would get better. And after about a month I was back to normal again.
Can't say that it will be the case for everyone though, and I understand if you wanted to back out of it.

google 30 bananas a day and join if you want some advice and to hear some experiences of people who are raw and people who follow 80/10/10
JoshHeiller 2 years ago 3
I agree that 80/10/10 is ideal raw diet, try reading that book.
as far as not getting enough calories we have to eat large quantitys of fruits and greens! if your not going to get enough calories you are bound to going back to cooked foods.
and your sensitive to cooked foods because they are toxic so your digestive tract builds up a mucos to protect itself from the toxicity when you eat raw vegan it lets its gaurd down.
try 80/10/10 for a while and get past the detox
JoshHeiller 2 years ago 2
kdaveem said "What kind of raw foods do you eat to get all those calories from?" to a Doug Graham style raw foodist...
(it is the oldest question on here.)
The answer is sweet ripe fruit, in large enough quantities to supply the same amount of calories that you would normally eat from cooked food.
You also eat lots of veges and greens, just low amounts of fats like avocado and nuts.
ramayomama 2 years ago 3
Hi, I like your video, it is very genuine, I wish you luck.
I have experimented with raw foods on and off (a lot of OFF time) since 2000.
From my experience, I think that the Doug Graham 80/10/10 approach is the best, and the only method I utilize when I am eating raw.
I would recommend getting familiar with Graham's version of raw foods on an intellectual level, and comparing it to other information you come across. Find his website, FAQ page and forums.
It is specific, simple and effective

Thanks ramoyomama,
Its nice we all have this forum in which to exchange our experiences. I keep hearing about the 80/10/10 approach, so I'm going to look into this more.

Do you take spirulina and bee pollen though?
nokkonen08 2 years ago

Keep on searching for more info cause raw food is ideal
canadianwargod 3 years ago
I understand what you saying, but in my case it seemed as though being so sensitive to cooked food was not a good thing, since I was not able to remain on a 100 percent raw food diet.
kdaveem 3 years ago
the longer you stay on a raw food diet, the less you will craved cooked food. noone is forcing cooked food down your mouth that's for sure. also diet is only one part of complete health. you need to exercise, get plenty of sleep and rest, fresh air, sunlight. You may have years of cleansing to do still. Alot of people don't experience true health for several years on a raw food diet because of the abuse they put their bodies through. Stick with it man, dead food makes dead bodies ; )

A couple things come to mind:
chronobiotics, eating with circadian rhythms help ... readReadREAD.
raw food is a cleanse in and of itself. i've heard people talk about the 6 month and 3 year periods.
plzchuckle 3 years ago
Read Victoria Boutenko's book, Raw family. She talks about the "danger" of eating raw and going back to cooked food. If my memory serves me correctly, she says that the body builds up defenses against cooked food that go away when you eat raw food...If you go back to cooked food, you will put yourself at a bigger risk than before eating raw food.
RawJewel 3 years ago
She is correct about cooked food having a bad effect on us after we have been on a raw diet. Hopefully at some point I will discover how to stay on a raw diet all the time.
kdaveem 3 years ago

This is why gorillas eat all day.
swevensent 3 years ago 2
Luckily we are unlike them in that we are frugivores, not herbivores, and we thrive on lots of fruit. Plenty of greens on the side, of course.
I was about 130 pounds when I went raw--and I'm not short--and lost a few initially. Water, mucus, fat. Now I'm 145 and gaining steadily with low bodyfat. I don't tend to think in terms of calories, but they make for a good metric: I target at least 2500 per day. As you might imagine, I consider fitness an important part of health.
swevensent 3 years ago
The people who commented before me no doubt mean well, but ultimately, I don't think your difficulties have been caused by lack of imported superfoods or insufficient intake of inorganic ocean-sourced salt. Just not enough food!
I found this video searching for material related to Doug Graham... if I were in your shoes, I'd really take a closer look at his 80/10/10 diet. I also recommend you look up durianrider here on Youtube (second video in my favorites as of tonight).
Good luck!

What kind of raw foods do you eat to get all those calories from?
kdaveem 3 years ago
Aphrocacao is absolutely right about the cleansing! I can't stress that enough. I've been on raw foods for 15 years. It's all about the cleansing. Colonics, saunas, and liver flushing. Look up Gravity East Village and listen to the Vitality shows. Especially the ones with Dr. Fred Bisci. Feel free to call the office for advice!
michaelperrine 3 years ago
Thanks for the tips. May I ask how long you have been living on raw food?
kdaveem 3 years ago
Sounds like after a while you start to detoxify which is normal. I'd get a colonic, and perhaps do some liver/colon cleansing. Superfoods that you like and agree with you and greens are the most important. Consider adding in superfoods like cacao, maca, spirulina, goji berries etc. Minimize sugar/starch. Drink plenty of spring water with celtic sea salt to stay hydrated and to flush toxins out. It also sounds like you would do great with blended food.
