  • Troy Davis is being murdered as I write.

  • This is an exelent version on this song, very good work.

  • Montecristo nice job, very nice job.you have added life to a very important work.

  • I love Nina Smone her autobiography was an excellent read I know my child would read it she lived for a time in my city!!!!!!Great artist and strong woman

  • this was very good and very honest. I'm glad that there are people like you on YouTube. Wonderful song, wonderful artist, and (although very gruesome) a good message. Thank you.

  • Thank you for the beautiful note in the information bar. Peace

  • Very interesting remix. I don't like the echo on her voice so much but overall this is very well done.

  • I found this a very tasteful remix. You've managed to take a haunting song in it's own right and make it all the more so, while the visuals are real, gritty and importatnt for all generations to remember.

    Well done.

  • @botchalism

    On a site like this?

    Very moral!

You're so stupid, I'm 15 and am coming up with more credible, valid points than you are!

  • @botchalism

That still doesn't condone your comments!

Yes, maybe then you'll understand why so many people are angry at you.

Especially on a page devoted to the lynchings of black people.

  • @botchalism. I ask you nicely and politely, can you please stop polluting this page? You are not funny, you are not been clever. You have stretched your "debate" as far as it can go....enough now....or we'll start thinking that you don't have friends........

  • @botchalism

    And that condones your comments?

Two wrongs don't make a right.

I'm not PC, you ought to be lynched and treated the way these people were!

  • @botchalism

I'm white actually, but what does it matter you ignorant pig?

  • @botchalism, I could answer in many different ways but we communicated enough for a life time!

  • SAD, i hope they are resting in heaven, those unfortunate victims of the white devil(s) whose future generation(s) I HOPE get some form of pack back for all that they put MY people through!

  • I do get your point of view, especially in this day and age, as the celebration of the last days of WWII is coming near and segregation still is an issue, all over the world. Do I recognise some DS sounds in the first couple of chords? I only know the version as sung by Mary Coughlan in the 90s, and through her did I get to know Billy Holiday. So sorry you had to take so much grieve just for making this great video. People can be really stupid or worse...

  • great choice...i love billie holiday's version

  • Those pictures brought tears to my eyes. How can anyone do this to a human being? The music with the video went along great. Just to sad though.

  • no sir, i don't find it acceptable..... i find it more than that, well done and true

  • For botchalism. You can't say thing like that! I am Italian and if we should follow your line of thinking we would have to say that crime is for italians just because of the existence of mafia! The point is that we are all only responsible as individuals, my actions are my actions and not the actions of my race. Your race is not responible for your silly statement, just you!

  • @docmontecristo I guess they don't teach sarcasm in Italy...

  • @docmontecristo Dear Doc--you might have to close down or allow comments only after you have reviewed them. Ignorant children are digging into their empty minds, fragmented by a lack of history and profound insensitivity...they are numb to your ethics and respect. Amazing cynicism and cruelty, all in the name of how cool it is to be cynical beyond their own education. You can go into your preferences and edit "no comments" and stop these wastes of your and every adult's time who knows history.

  • I've made up my mind to stop being racist, racism is a crime, and crime is for black people.

  • @botchalism

You disgusting piece of filth! Racism isn't a crime for one and how can you be so stupid as to think that crime is for black people! I'm pretty sure crime would've actually been invented by the white man! You disgrace white people with your stupid, ignorant remarks! Keep them to yourself.

  • @rarw95 I'm not racist, I LOVE NIGGERS!

  • @botchalism

    get a life!

  • Ub40 did a good version a must listen

  • Thank you SO MUCH for your contribution and re-imagining of the feel of this masterpiece. Be proud--I listened to it for almost an hour the other day...it became the feel of the room. I am subscribing to you in thanks...

  • I simply love it. The sweetest music I have heard in weeks.

But the pictures are really disturbing.

The combination is very, very good.

  • Brilliant version!!!!! :)

  • beautiful mate..thanks so much for this version.

  • This one is for 1971ShawnW: I am proud & relieved by the fact that you didn't like and marked poorly my effort and more generally this famous song as you are clearly a racist, YOU ARE NOT WELLCOME ON THIS PAGE!!!

  • one of the best voice ever

  • Hi, I'm only young, but I love Nina Simone, Billie Holiday and all of the great musicians who have done this song over the years. Thanks for mixing it in a way that I can get my friends to listen to.

  • Where can I find this remix? What Album?

  • i'm just glad all those who took part in lynching came forward and admitted guilt.

  • ha! Who you kiddin?

  • YESSS,

with the counseling of SANTA CLAUS !!

  • um......where the hell do you get your facts? majority of the old bastards who committed these crimes lived well into old age and died free men, never so much as being arrested for their participation. All those in the crowds smiling, laughing and waving at the cameras also lived long lives. what the hell are you talking about?

  • guess i just assumed everyone would get that i was using sarcasm to drive home the point. i was wrong.

btw, i'm black and one of my relatives was lynched for helping with black voter registration. his name was lamar smith and his name is right next to emmitt till at the memorial in atlanta. so i don't need a lecture.

  • then you shouldnt need a lecture on why sarcasm in this particular forum is completely tactless and sorely regarded.

  • the two people that commented before you got it? maybe it's just you.

  • Thank you.

  • Phenomenal! That remix is brilliant. The video is almost too painful to watch, but appropriate nonetheless. Excellent work.

  • Thank God for men like Martin Luther King. In the here and now, you will not find a kinder place than NC. But once, as a child, I nearly had my teeth knocked from my mouth by my own mother when I called our housekeeper a "lady". NO N***** WAS EVER A LADY!" she shouted at me as I sobbed on the floor. God forgive us. God forgive us all...

  • @webdba11 Thankyou for sharing. My People were Confederate refugees in West Texas. I had to deal with you their racism, and to fight deep racist "engrams" or "conditioning" that, thankfully, never got below the surface of my brain. (unless they welled up as I fought, and that's how I dealt with them) After growing up hearing "N------S are great. Hard workers, musical, dumb as posts, everyone should own one!" I had to work hard to look at "blacks" and not think "a slave!"

  • I was also shamed so severely for speaking Spanish to a maid that I have never managed to learn much more than "un fria cervesa, por favor," in fifty years on the Border

  • @webdba11 "god" actually played a huge role in slavery. Your "god" commands it in the bible, you ignoramus. It was also practiced by the very religious Catholic Conquistadors which most likely inspired it in North America, who modeled many things from Spanish and Portuguese Imperialism.

  • @XforeverlongingX Slaves of the Hebrews were either employees (like a maid or hired hand) or slaves out of debt. The Bible guides the "masters" to love their slave as a part of their household. Also a slave out of debt was to be set free after 7 years. This is Mosaic LAW. Unless the slave loved his "master" so much that he wished to stay his "slave". It's true that people used passages of the Bible as an excuse to have slaves but these were not slaves in the Biblical sense.

  • @hueseph You've just expanded upon my earlier point. Slaves none the less. In many parts of S. America, slaves were taken in the exact way you have illustrated. No fellow primate has the right to enslave others. In debt or not.

  • @XforeverlongingX Many religions profane the Bible. Do not equate religion with the God of the Bible who has a name. The God of this world however is nameless in the Bible. Black Sabbath wrote the song Lord of This World. They weren't talking about the God of the Bible. The Bible calls Satan the Lord of This World. You've seen the proof.

  • @hueseph This comment is gibberish. You have no access to knowledge allowing you to A. know the existence of a supernatural being. B. know which one out of the billions imagined to be true. C. that the being intervenes in human affairs. D. What this being wants. You have to get passed A. to even begin to go toe to toe with me.

  • @XforeverlongingX Your ability to even question it should prove something to you. There are no other animals that would even ponder a higher being. DNA. If you can show me how DNA can spontaneously exist and with the ability to replicate itself continually then i might consider your comment valid. DNA is a blueprint. Every blueprint has a draftsman. This world has everything we need to sustain us? Why? Because we evolved together? Out of nothing. Which other planet has this?

  • @hueseph No no no. Your mind demands patterns. You are a pattern seeking primate. The human composition is not a composition of parts that are jammed together like a computer. We have lasted, outlasted, the world because we have enough to sustain ourselves. The world is not functioning with us in mind. If what you were saying is true, then the human species would not have almost gone completely extinct periodically, as it decreased to almost 5,000 at one point in history.

  • @hueseph "There are no other animals that would even ponder a higher being. " Correct. You're adding to my argument. We are the only primates that know that we will die. That is why we make up stories about an afterlife, about an eternal parent. Now, let me get back to your earlier point. "If you can show me how DNA can spontaneously exist and with the ability to replicate itself continually then i might consider your comment valid." Doesn't separate deist from theist argument

  • @hueseph My challenge to you stands. It's your job, as the one making the otherworldly claim to provide evidence for your claim. You have failed to separate the conjoined arguments that you slickly tried to piece as one. Separate the deistic argument "There may be a creator" from the theistic "there is a creator who intervenes, ly, in human affairs. Allows us to only eat certain foods, have sex with certain people and in certain positions, require we mutilate children's genitals, etc"

  • @hueseph - the "ly" that was a typo.

  • Not and easy subject to cover my man....but have to give to you, you've done a good job...I am a fan
