  • clueless me couldn't figure this out. I almost had it :P

  • QUESTION, how the fuck do i do this??? i just attacked lavos, and got a shit ending, somebody PLZ GIVE ME A GAMN INSTRUCTIONAL LINK???

  • @bretthicksomega Equip the Chrono Cross, play the song, use the Chrono Cross.

You play the song by using the elements in the correct pattern. There have been plenty of times throughout your adventure where you've seen color patterns. I'll give you a hint: they're all the same pattern.

  • @Masterblaster9001 Hmmm I disagree, there are many instances where patterns don't add up. For instance, attacking the tower you face 6 bosses: Yellow, red, green but then you choose between black or white and then you face blue. The hints are not helpful. The only real place would be the Criosphinx which to beat without killing requires this pattern

  • @bretthicksomega Yellow, red, green, blue, black, white, chrono cross (put chrono cross at level 1)

  • Nice quality video. It really brings back fond memories. Thanks bro!

  • I never thought that there could be a game this good with a silent protagonist!

  • the music from this game is fantastic. It is like cocaine to my ears.

  • I fucking love this game

  • A f***ing epic game beat it like 3 times. Hope they remake it for ps3 and that if they do they don't change anything and add a whole lot more.

  • This ending is so emotional

  • ...Wow. Its been about 8 years since seeing this, and I still find it very hard to sit through Schala's release sequence without getting moved very emotionally. I didn't get this feeling in FF titles at all either; though FF7's planet cleansing ending (not Aeris' death..I got spoiled on that) came close.

Games don't go this deep anymore. These days, its all about HD graphics and how many orcs/soldiers to kill before getting that sweet upgrade...sad.

  • So there's multple endings? Darn it! I wish I took better care of my Chrono Cross game. ):

  • So I get there are theories out there why Schala looks so different, her absorption in Lavos is what caused it. Okay.. maybe, but that doesn't really explain why her clothes are different...

  • This also doesn't mean Chronopolis doesn't exist anymore. Remember, we don't know what happened to the Frozen Flame at the very end. Perhaps FATE is still out there, governing El Nido, fueled by the Frozen Flame. It's just not after Serge anymore.

  • -- But anyway, Serge remember everything and the two separate dimensions have been woven into one. It's highly likely that the resulting dimension is a lot like Another World, because Home World befell a lot of tragedy. The exception being now that Serge is alive in this dimension, without FATE's interference.

  • @AizensPlan Hmmm, not really, in the homeworld, the hydras and by extension the swamp is alive and well, and Marbule is a happy place. I think the main message was when given choice (ie, no FATE), humans make mistakes but can learn from them to make the world better

  • Life ~ Distant Promise

  • I loved games like this when I was younger, and it was still a really fun playthrough. However, this ending was way too preachy (way too much carpe diem/existential babble) and the ultimate copout "twas all a dream" wtf? Crono and friends in the original got to taste success and stuff, whereas Serge just wakes up losing all his memory...fail. 10 years ago the first time I got this ending PSX crashed an I just said screw it. All these years later, what a disappointment.

  • @AnsinJung Wow even as I wrote that during the credits, it crashed again. @@. Guess I'll finish watching this video in case there are any Easter Eggs at the end of credits.

  • @AnsinJung That's up for interpretation actually. In my opinion, Serge did not lose his memories, even though maybe that was Schala's intention. Why? Because he asks Leena about FATE and Terra Tower. Thus, he remembers everything. Eventually, Schala finds Serge and they get married. But this doesn't happen until a decade at least, since at the end of Chrono Cross Serge is returned to Opassa Beach after gathering the Komodo Shells.

  • the best rpg's ive ever played were:

FF6,7 and 9, Chrono Trigger/Cross, Xenogears, Legend of Dragoon, Legend of Mana, Star Ocean (snes), Tales of Phantasia, Breath of Fire 1-4, Suikoden 1 and 2.

my best 3 would be: FF9, Chrono Trigger and Xenogears

  • @SnowCaress Try Legend of Legaia, very underrated game.

  • @ArtificialRaven What will be the boss name in the final battle?

  • OK what the hell is going on here? The ending text seems to be saying that in order to create a new universe, a human, or indeed other animal, has to HUMP THE PLANET EARTH.

  • the weapon your using is mastermune right ? we get after defeating dario i have it or did you modify mastermune nothing like that right ?

  • The music in this ending makes me want to change the world for the better.

  • What is the name of the song when the video start.

(By the way, this is the most epic game on PSONE, even FF7 can't beat it and FF is one of my drug)

  • @DGkssk I think the song is called "Life" or "Faraway Promise". The whole OST is freaking flawless! Type in "Chrono Cross OST Life", Adaman10 has the entire OST uploaded.

  • @DeaButterflyFeathers Not the song for the ending of the game of chrono cross but the song at the start of the video when its all gray

  • @DGkssk "Frozen Flame". Disc 3 of the CC Soundtrack Collection. =^_^=V

  • they so should have made a new chrono game.

  • I never could pull this off for some reason. :-(

  • I feel really bad for Schala. In Chrono Trigger I didn't like her much because she should have stood up for herself against Zeal. But looking at her now...jeez, I wouldn't wish merging with Lavos on anybody. that's just terrible. The song is beautiful and I'm glad that she's free.

On a side note, why is her hair blond? I thought she had blue hair O.o

  • The speach in this games ending is breathtakingly beautiful I love my

Chrono Cross. Who needs stupid FPS type games or immature GTA

games when there are FF or good story based games.

  • ..."Inseminating a planet?"

    O.O

  • Stupid TimeDevourer...

Me: Alright... Got red, yellow, green, blue, black, and white...

    TimeDevourer: *OmegaYellow*

    Me: ...%$#&!

  • will there ever be another sequel or something? i hate to see the chrono series end like this

  • @GAYLORDFOCKER12345

well back in 2001 square enix registered the trademark for Chrono Brake, but in 2003 the trademark was dropped in the United States. It is set to expire on december 14, 2011 in the European Union, and on july 26, 2012 in Japan...lets hope they do something with it.

I dont understand why game developers dont take advantage of sequels..sega could stop making crappy sonic games and work on shenmue 3 and Camelot is working on Golden sun 3

  • @GAYLORDFOCKER12345 I hope not. I want to remember this game and Chrono Trigger as priceless treasures from my childhood that shaped who I am today. Not watch it/them evolve into just another 8-20 hour video game that focuses primarily on graphics, scantilly clad characters, and a story with shallow depth that couldn't move me to tears, as this ending has so many times, if it tried. Chrono Cross is like Michael Jackson, there will NEVER be another like it. <3

  • ...So Fargo gets to interrupt the ending instead of everyone? He got lucky.

  • something that confused me xD ( i havent played this in a long time) is Schala and kid one person??

  • Was kind of confused when I saw Schala talking to "Araven".

    And then I was like.

    OHHHHHH.

    ARTIFICIAL RAVEN.

    I GET IT.

  • Why isn't her hair blue?

  • Considering this is a sequel to a game with over 12 different endings, the fact that the "good" ending is mostly just text of Schala talking like a 1st year philosophy student is kind of disappointing.

All of this "I will find you" crap. The new DS port of CT has an ending with Magus vowing to find Schala, and this one with Schala/Kid saying she'll find you... I think Square is kinda obligated to make another game where someone fucking finds someone! I'd play it...

  • Whats the name of the song that plays at the end when you beat the time devouerer

  • So many chills down my spine...

  • One of thee best fucking games ever

  • this sucks i just fought this guy used the chrono cross when all the elements were lined up correctly and nothing happened

  • "We alone do not have the power to heal the world's woes, or to solve all it's mysteries. And yet, even then..."

Google this and view the results. The first two results involve Chrono Cross. And the rest coincidentaly have to do with...?

  • You know this game is amazing when my friend, who hates RPGs, managed to play this game religiously and bawl like a baby when he finally got this ending...

  • i know this game, ive played it but i still DONT FULLY UNDERSTAND IT!!! someone plz explain it

  • You have to play it like 3+ times to fully understand the game.

Basicly though, Kid = Schala a princess from Chrono Trigger. The only REAL connection That is confirmed by the Square Enix to the two games is Schala and lavos. The rest you read about connection is Fan Speculation.

anyways Understanding it just Wikipidia the story-line, it basicly gives you the jist of it. YOutube comments dont give enough room

  • and also, play chrono trigger, it gives a lil insight between both games

  • Best Game Ever.

  • I had trouble enjoying this game, i felt like the characters switched too often for me to feel connected to them in any fashion. I am the only person who didn't dig this game I think haha.

  • @h0bgawblin

I think it was a generally well-realised game, but yes, I think the ridiculous number of characters made it hard to identify with any of them. And the characters I loved from the previous game all died horribly. Not fun times. Great music, though.

  • It's one of those games where you have to play the "New Game +" part, then you can keep your party. But there really is no connection unless you Play through your party members own story (besides kids and Serges)

  • @h0bgawblin True, one of the few things I don't like much about this game was the inmense amount of characters who just randomly join you and have no development at all (Greco, Neo-Fio and Turnip come to mind). However, some others get their share of development at one point or another, which is always welcome (I can't help but to feel bad about Karsh, for example - mostly cause I can relate to him >_>). And the game could be a bit harder I guess. Everything else is just perfection to me.

  • What a well-thought-out and philosophical ending. Gotta give props to the writers and translator of this games. Awesome job!

  • I felt like crying when she said you will have to forget everything and move on with your life

With all of those people, all of the events, i would like to stay with kid

    Fuck Leena... lol

  • 1:09 - 1:28

I actually cried during that moment; I think the only time I've ever cried playing a video game.

  • It sounds kind of similar to the intro to chrono trigger doesn't it? Especially with that drum roll.

  • your age is less than 18 years old? i guess

  • dude, I would have still been peeing my bed when Chrono Trigger came out, if I was that young.

    where did I say I was 18?

  • biologically, sure, hey, hopefully someday from all that tai chi and herbal stuff!

  • Best RPG ending ever.

  • its sad this, suikouden 1&2, ff7and 10, legnd of dragoon/ legia. there are so few rpgs this well thought out and throughly enjoyable. And with the passing of time and creation of new gen systems there seem to be less and less ( good job on tales of vesperia). Maybe i'm just getting old sigh.. great game

  • Anyone else gearing up to watch HCBailly's playthrough? :)

  • Watching it right now. I tried to do a playthrough a year ago but my computer is too slow to handle the video recorders. Only made it through the first trip to Viper Manor...

  • first time I got this ending I had to use a strategy guide; the game was like, HARD. However upon a revisit, I was a hardened Dragon Quest VIII veteran, battle scarred by the Dragovian lord; upon a revisit, THAT time it was easy compared to DQ VIII

  • LOLS DQ Viii (only took me 90 hours for full completion), but you wanna be scarred, youplay through Dragon Warrior 7 on psx...125 hours ...my god....really, you must battle "God" at the end,..most amazing long game I have ever played,...wonderful and brilliant.

  • That is how many hours I logged on it, over the course of a solid year, I beat it twice, both times around 90 hours.

I heard Dragon Warrior 7 sucked though.

Come on though cut me some slack; Crono Cross is easy compared to Dragon Quest VIII

  • the three best rpgs of all time for me were on the psone. FF7, Chrono Cross, and Xenogears. what an amazing time for video games. they don't make rpg's like this anymore...

  • @brooklyn0914 Whats so good about Xenogears besides its story

  • @ceberusbotcatcher the combat system was very intresting and pretty original at the time, you get to ride around in giant mecs in parts of the game, its music is good, the only problem i have with Xenogears is the second disk... i will put it like this, level as much as you can before you get to the second CD.

  • Yeah!Your right,They the Best.!!!This RPG games rocks!.Hope That Square will remake all of this.!

  • @brooklyn0914 The don't do anything like FFVII or Chrono Cross! I miss the old Square!

  • @brooklyn0914

they sure don't, and I realize you posted this a year ago lol

  • @brooklyn0914 Sorry but i gotta correct you on FF7 since they re-made Chrono Trigger for the PSone. Just my opinion though.

  • @brooklyn0914 I would say Chrono Cross,Xenogears,FF 9 :)

  • I can't watch and listen to this ending without getting a little choked up. Not even the most emotional moments in the Final Fantasy series can do this to me.

  • @ComradeSephiroth Well said

  • @Grobyc315 It's not emotional in the same way as, say, Aeris' death in FF7 is. More of a general dark and depressing mood, one that makes me think of my own eventual death - and with it, all those uncomfortable mysteries about eternity, nonexistence and the afterlife.

  • @ComradeSephiroth Sry didnt get the chance to play FF7 but i totally dig what u are trying to say. :)

  • did you guys noticed that when you cast a element, it will create a tone, which all of it being placed in the right spot it will create the melody that is playing, as princess schala escape from the time of devourer.

  • the strategy guide did not mention that, but, its kind of easy to figure out; the colors and the corresponding music is shown as a clue throughout the game.

  • this girl In the Head Of Time devorer Is "Kid" in childreen form

  • No, it's Schala.

  • It's Schala from Zeal Kingdom.

  • It's Schala, they just made her blonde for some reason.

  • Urgh... "Kid" is the clone of Schala, If you haven't got that idea yet...

  • I'm not talking about the annoying australian tart, I'm talking about Schala herself. You know, the one sitting on top of the time destroying cosmic horror? The one that looks like an eight year old girl? That Schala.

  • Its Schala.

  • what a great game . hope new chrono game for ps3

  • how we get chrono cross element

  • This game is awesome.....btw just so you guys know, you don't have to keep "Chrono Cross" on level 8...Personally I placed it in level 1 and it worked fine....

  • emu? cheat? ^^

you have to keep it on level 8!

  • Cheat??? no way

The chrono cross element says: 8+_8 which means you can put it anywhere you wants it's just that when you put it on level 1 elements it will be:

Chrono Cross - 7...but chrono cross doesn't have any attack power so you can just put it in level 1 and it will be WAY MORE EASIER to complete it...

Just give it a try, it will work...

  • damn, dont know why i didnt figure that out...

    thanks 4 reply ^^

  • My pleasure ;)

  • thanks for the upload

  • I love love love this game... is the jowel of squaresoft the best history of all rpgs y love the ending Very I am moved for this thanks men for this ending

  • but i screwed up against the end boss and put in the wrong color/sound combo and then i saved!!! it went to new game plus and i never went back to try and beat it again for the good ending, and finally 11 years later i watch it on youtube lol .... absolutly amazing i didnt start thinking the way i do now until i was much older, 23/24, i wonder if i would of been enlightened earlier if i had seen that ending

  • @ drhatchback, I know exactly what you're talking about... I experienced a same feeling when I was watching the ending of "Secret Of Evermore". Yea, I know, SOE wasn't as good as Secret of Mana, but it was my first game, which I first played at the age of 5^^ and yup, chrono cross has nearly the best storyline I've ever seen combined with a beautiful gameplay... A shame that FF-Games got cursed by the Graphic-Evolution...

  • hoe - lee - shit .... that is the most amazing thing ive ever read, i cant even begin to describe how that perfectly described what i think life is .... i played this game straight threw in 1 week on a family vacation, i sat on a 3rd floor back deck drinking beer smoking joints basking in the sun and enjoying the sea breeze with the ocean in my background, i cant tell you how much i loved this game ........ cont.

  • same here. it is the best game of all time

  • man..so many memories with tihs game. I loved it and still do. I love both ending but this one is the happiest. This game is the best thing I've ever played! <3

  • man i played this game for years ( when i was little i would play till a certain part like 40 times until i realised how to save and then reach another point restart and do it again for like 400 hours ) then i got the strategy guide and beat it in 20 hours a few months ago but just killed lavos and saved, I GOT THE SHITIEST ENDING FOR A GAME i loved so much i nearly cried, glad this is up on youtube

  • this scene is all slow and dramatic.

  • sadly i ddnt finished the game :(..but now i know how it ended..thanks for the post.. 5 stars :)

  • The other universe Leena is a lot nicer then that demanding shrew.

  • heh, Schala's being all philosophical, then...

    YAR, matey!

  • it is hard to do that ending.

when i only need to use the chrono cross, the time devourer interupts with another element and i need to start all over again.

  • I know lol. Same thing happened to me my first few tries, thats for sure.

  • LOL it is a bitch to start over, but I got through it pretty easy. Good ending.

  • Personally I did it the second time....how???It's simple....

First of all you must attack with all the guys so your element level will be 8, next just wait until he uses an attack (Omega yellow or green)

After that it is your turn >_>"...USE LEVEL 1 ELEMENTS so that it will be harder for him to attack...use everyone's elements even Serge's...personally I putted Chrono Cross in level 1 elements and after I got "yellow, red, green, blue, black, white"I used it and it worked perfectly!!! Enjoy! ;)

  • @Artificialraven

Wait, what? In my case, he filled these colors by HIMSELF. Let him go on, when you start casting yourself, he will not go easy on you and will often interrupt.

  • @guitargamer1000889 Yeah it sometimes takes several tries to get the Yellow Red Green Blue Black White pattern and then hit the Chrono Cross, the Time devourer throws so many different elements that may end up wrecking your pattern

  • @guitargamer1000889 That's actually the point; he interrupts you with only one to go. So the solution is to "trick" it into giving you the *first* color of the chain; that way you can cast all the others and use the cross. Since it always casts the color opposite of what you need to continue the chain, cast the chain until the next color would be green, then wait. It'll cast yellow, which is the first color of the chain. Now you can cast all the other colors and use the cross.

  • @guitargamer1000889

easy. Place Chrono Cross at Tech level 1 along with 6 of the other colored elements. Strike up to level 8. Use yellow and red from your level 1 techs, then defend until everyone is at 7.0. THIS IS THE MOST CRUCIAL STEP. TD will use yellow. Then you just go through your level 1 elements going up until u can use CC.

    Boom

I beat Time Devourer in less than 10 minutes every time...when I wish to get this ending.

  • I am new to this seires. So whats the Connection between Trigger and Cross?

  • Oh my god. I GET IT. O_O

That is one of the most amazing game endings I have seen, ever. I love you Square Enix. :]

Chrono Chross is one of the best games ever. :O...

[i prefer it to chrono trigger, but you're welcome to disagree.]

  • I have to agree. The game was fun, but seems like a very loose attempt to link two different stories which seem to have really had not relation to each other prior to the remake being called "Chrono" Cross.

  • PLEASE FOR GOD SAKE, it is not Square Enix, it's Square SOFT, there is a MAJOR difference.

  • Yeah Square Soft originally made the game. Later after the merger, Chrono Cross was re-released as a PS1 greatest hit title under SquareEnix so I guess thats where people get confused about who made it.

  • man i got the super shitty non existent ending the first time i played and saved over my data ...... fuck

  • One last thing to say is this... this is one of the best endings ever. ^^ The music and what is being said... is just beautiful... ^^ "If one link is missing, there would be no future. There is no such thing as a useless life-form... No such thing as a pawn!" That's got to be one of the best quotes ever! ^^ It's one of mine anyway! :D

  • Funny you should say that, the ending makes no sence to me what so ever.

  • lol. I think it should at least make some sense. :) At least what's being said after you save Kid. ^^ lol. She's just going to go looking for him again some how... lol. I wonder what their next meeting will be like. lol. Time Loop and yet a little different? lol. Like, what if Kid just pops up by Serge fighting Karsh and the Shaker Bros. all over again? That would be a little stupid. XD And then... I wonder what difference there should be from there though... lol.

  • I thought it was terrible actually. SquareEnix is big on substituting existential nonsense for actual coherent plot. We've learned that much.

  • ... that's too bad... lol. It sounds... philosophical... lol.

  • The way I see it, well consider it. The whole game, you have been, at first glance, little more than a pawn in the grand scheme of things. Used by Lynx, FATE, the Dragons and Belthasar, all to reach their goals, be they good or bad. All these schemes created a great chain, leading up until one point, the battle against the Time Devourer.

And none of these schemes would have worked if not for you. One single life was the key component that saved existence itself.

  • Right. ^^ I think you explained it pretty well. :) So, what do you think though? Do you think it was pretty good, like me? (Well the very end of it where he wakes up to see Leena... hm... I guess the ending could use some more work but I thought it was overall nice, especially because of the music. ^^)

  • It was nice. It definitely did what it set out to do, which is make you think.

Also, given how Kid and Serge have already screwed destiny, time and FATE to be together several times already, I reckon one more time wouldn't hurt.

    Especially given that last scene.

And I liked the ending. Life and Radical Dreamers: Without Taking The Jewel are amazing themes.)

  • lol. Let me rephrase that. It's not like your dumb or anything if you don't understand it. By smart I actually mean wise. :) You got to have the wise man as some kind of philosopher or something to really understand it. ^^ That, or just look up info somewhere and read up on ALL of it, and try to work it out, everything that's been put into the game, plot/story, setting, characters, dialogue and what not and see if it makes any more sense. ^^

  • lol. You know, I figured that maybe the Chrono Trigger people are just ghosts, illusions, thoughts, dreams or what not and not really real and alive even towards the end. And with all the confusing concepts, just think about Time Loops, parallel universes, alternate realities, other dimensions, different possible changes in time... Time is a very complicated thing, and so is the meaning of our lives... that is why a game like Chrono is hard to understand. You got to be smart like Square-Enix. :)

  • Most touching ending ever

  • SPERM atozoa :))

  • I liked the game, but it felt like the story didn't really start until the second disc. And then you got most of the plot, but you didn't play any real part in it other than killing the time devourer or saving schala like some random deus ex machina. Important, but why 'you?'. you only get summarized most of the things instead of playing it. i really liked the concept, i loved the music, the characters i brought seemed hollow except for Harle. Kid had a vital role, but i weren't fond of her...

  • lol. I know, her character was all like... lol. She was a bit too crazy and violent. ^^ Characters like her might just take some time getting used to... :)

  • can someone explain me the story of chrono cross from the begining???

  • Oh and also, Final Fantasy VII doesn't have a complicated story and it's a masterpiece, so i don't know what you guys are thumbing down about.

  • Then it would go down in history as just another FF clone.

  • i agree

  • lol. Some things like this have a deep, meaningful, and complicated story where you just have to go really deep in some kind of philosophical thought to really understand it. (And to prove my point, just look at the 3 Gurus in this game. :))

  • cause that's what a masterpiece is...

  • So a masterpiece is a complicated story? That makes a lot of sense.

  • how is this a complicated story?

  • it makes sense if youve played chrono trigger, i recommend the ps1 version.

  • this ending disappointed meh D:

  • how is it dissapointing if kid and serge marry in the end..? & schala is freed and is telling you the whole plot through her diaryyy??

  • its too plain, there is no real scene, its like they were rushing the ending, the game was great but this ending just wasnt worth it

  • I didn't think they rushed the ending. They wanted the gamer to think they were very plotted when they set out this ending, I highly assure you.

  • I think so too. ^^

  • i've finish this game more than 4 times and i kept using draggy glenn and chrono to do all my fighting..they are the best and 1 time i used the last evolution of evil pip discarding draggy..those four are the nicest looking characters in the game....

  • Sans the blonde hair, is the girl the land of Israel? Is the barrier around her, the ashkenazi, and is the monster behind her, Arab muslims? Does serge represent the Messiah?

  • Lavos, in might, power, and evil, is Akin to Islam. The barrier around the girl, is akin to how the ashkenazi do not let Israel breathe the free air. An Serge, is akin to the Messiah, who will shatter both.

  • I didn't think this game was Islamic-like at all... lol.
