@GhostNY100 For this I was using a Boss RC20XL. Not a bad unit overall once you get used to it... I've learned to work around its limitations for the most part.
Hey man, this is really good, and I like this playing style, but I don't know where to start. What kind of tone setting would be good for a clean tapping style like this one? And what sort of looping pedal are you using? I have one by Boss, but it's not really user friendly.
@PigSpeakers I like Fender amps and guitars myself... so a good clean tone is never too hard to achieve. The pedal I used in this and usually use is just the Boss RC-20XL. A good clean boost or compressor can be valuable as well, although I don't care much for compression pedals myself.
I'm curious of your math. Because I got 159% on your statement that the song is composed of 99% finger tapping and 60% loops. How is it possible to have an extra 59%?
this is great, I've never been interested in tapping because I thought it was all EVH stuff that bores me, but math rock changed my mind. Any tips for a beginner?
@BMK493 Thanks very much!! I often practice playing like this on an acoustic... to build dexterity... it can be a bit revealing and awkward sounding at first, but it seems to help.
shit is great. i play alot of math style tapping on my acoustic. I had a Fender Srat with custom humbuckers that sounded good on a good clean amp tapping. This is 100 times better than what i try to sound like. Keep it up man!

@stevonave And maybe if you understood the etiquette off online forums and comments, you would realise that a smille face at the end of a sentance means you arnt being serious :( <------ see, sad face, means i was deaply hurt by your comment
Pluss im dyslexic.... just thought id let you know ;)
i absolutely love this song. the combination of that first riff you looped with the one you play over it is absolutely amazing. i really really like to hear music like this. you should most definitely post more songs like this, they are great
i got into this kind of stuff after listening to (older) minus the bear too much... and stayed interested in the idea of this type of playing from listening to bands like Dilute, Pretend, Make Believe, Noyes etc. it's important (i think) to just become a better player in general, and not focus on a particular style. the best players to me are the versatile ones who are not locked into a certain genre or label. i got into tapping after really working on my fingerstyle technique..
yea the band that really got me into this tapping style was maps and atlases.
yea ive only been playing guitar for a year or so( self- taught with music backround) ill just try and work my playing in general. i deff agree about being versatile but i just didnt know where to start with this style.
I can tell the same. i love this sort of style and other math-rock bands. Just like This town needs guns (kick ass guitar player Tim Collins) or LITE. these are also good bands and if you don't know them, just check them out.
I really like your tone.i'd really like to know, how you get that amazing sound.what gear are you using and what's the tension and action of your strings?
please keep it up!!!! long live the TAPS
