@raconter1 not sure Jack, it could be, its kinda hard to read in the video, i know if this car was from Canada originally, than it could have a gas ration sticker on it, our stickers where much like the U.S. stickers, with the letters meaning the same thing, "A" meant you could buy 4 gallons of gas a week, which is not much! if you get 10 MPG than you can only go 40 miles a week! for some that would be difficult even today! one might have to stock pile it to travel!
Yeah, they certainly didn't go overboard with giving out gas back in the day..the real problem was not gas supply, but rubber for tires...or so I hear. As far as distance goes, lots of people lived very near their workplace...so different from today! :) Jack
ya quite a few still around, but the convertibles are getting rare, many of these '39-'40 Fords are hot rods, this one appears to be pretty stock, except it appears to have a dual exhaust setup, so its a very stock Hot Rod, and thanks for the comment!
And that really burns me, when people make rods out of vintage autos that cannot be put back to original without extreme re-fabricating (chopped tops usually). Once someone does that, it's more or less a "tainted" vehicle in terms of originality, and will never be the car it was.
@yooperd ya chopped tops or channeled bodies are impossible to reverse, now i understand people did what they did back in the late 40s and 50s and into the 60s and 70s with Hot Rodding, as they never thought about a vehicle being a classic, thus i can understand old Hot rods, but to chop up a classic now,,,, well it seems almost evil! they now have fiberglass and even aluminum/steel reproductions now, so hopefully using original vehicles for Hot Rods will slowly end!
i agree Daniel, it is beautiful! and this convertible was from the golden age of automobiles! back when they where built like tanks! and thanks for the comment!
thanks for the comment Monarch, (i can't seem to remember your real name? i am really bad at remembering user names and real names!) and it would seem that these '39 and '40 Ford convertibles are getting more rare, there still seems to be a lot of hard tops, but the convertibles survival really depended on that roof! and if it gave up! the elements would often overcome the whole car, but again thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!
Beautiful! The '40 is one of my favorite Ford body styles. It's up there with the '46-48 Ford styling, timeless.

Great cars, still quite a few 1940 Fords around, but not too many convertibles.
