I'm addicted to Denez's voice. Why the bagpipes though? I wish I had payed attention in French class and applied myself. I love songs in French, and when I sing them to myself I screw it all up!
I imagine that must be quite the experience... All I've had so far are sonatas where I played the bombarde completely drunk, while my friend broke his biniou , because his alcohol level was slightly higher than mine... Rosé, quand tu nous tiens!
I have spent many hours playing recorder on the streets ... slow aires mostly ... but my Breton roots are moving me towards bombarde / biniou. Or maybe that's just my home-brew speaking? :-)
@lethe56 It started with an interest in mead ... many, many years ago. I found I had far, far better results with beer than I ever did with wine ... easily producing stuff that surpasses most commercial drink. (Of course some micro-breweries produce ace stuff.) Old ways are good!
@GogolBordelloLover In Brittany, great Highland bagpipes are now very common in traditional Breton music. We use them in "bagadoù", a Breton equivalent to the Scottish pipe-bands.

LOL, he sings in Breton, not French!

Jeez! No wonder I couldn't pick out any French. I thought I was just a dolt.

Well, I must admit it took me some time to figure out when I first heard him. After all, it was on a French music channel :-)

It's breton, not French. And the breton bagpipe is the "biniou koz", not to be confused with the Scottish "war pipes".
tremben 2 years ago 3
@tremben Yop, but what you have right here IS a scottish bagpipe...
lethe56 1 year ago
Yes, right. I didn't make that clear.
"War pipes" or highland pipes, played at night amidst a ring of tents ... ah, now that's an experience! *grin*"

@GogolBordelloLover it is really easy to confuse the two because the way both languages pronounce their words are similar
