  • hi can jive just, just trying to teach my hearing inpaired hussband to be, he can hear the beat but i am now going to try and see if we can copy your steps. any tips?

  • Hagan uno en español

  • @aeleaonor...Perdón, yo no hablo español

  • Could you post a vid doing International Standard Jive?

  • Sorry I mean International Latin Jive =)

  • @dorsiflector We dont do Interrnational or Latin jive. I only promote authentic styles of dance

  • qué buenos videos, Kav ha sido compere en Hemsby rnr wknd durante años y uno de los exponentes más representativos del baile rockabilly en uk... gran tipo !

  • AWESOME!!

  • OMG i really like it!

  • hey this looks like "cumbia"

  • Nice moves! You both can really dance and explain the steps so well! Join the Just Dance Talent Search to enter for a chance to get your moves in the next Just Dance video game and win a trip to Paris.

  • I just love watching these two dance. They are amazing.

  • rockabilly forever!

  • Wheee! That looks FUN!

  • Great video. I know East Coast Swing, but I was watching some 50s jive and I couldn't figure out how they were moving so fast and making such fast pivots. Seeing this really helps understand the footwork.

  • @warriorofthegeats

The trick is that there is no footwork. Just step and step, while slightly

    twisting the body.

  • good

  • woooooooooow :)

  • Excellent video! Explained well and demonstrated perfectly.

  • definitely

  • love to dance rockabilly

  • BAILAS BIEN HE TE FELICITO kAV SI NO TE MOLESTA HE OCUPADO TUS PASOS PARA LOS BAILES.BUENO QUE ESTES BIEN CUIDATE

  • No, sorry, you'll you need to get my video :)

  • NICE ONE KAV,EASY TO UNDERSTAND

  • Thank you very kindly :)

  • Shirts fantastic mate, as are your moves, I have your DVD, top man

  • Some of the best moves and teaching skills Ive seen, allowing so many people, the chance of enjoying a real hot dance!

  • Simply Fantastic-its people like these who keep Rockabilly jive so much alive

  • As so often is the case, it takes the UK to show the world how to dance, Rockabilly may have been born in the USA, but has grown beyond all expectations here in the UK, so dont comment on the shirt, watch and learn kids...............................................

As the Master teaches you the right way

  • Thanks for the heads up...How good IS that :)

  • Hey Kav

I writing from Barcelona..from I bought you this video(VHS) in Hemsby many of the couples here, friends of mine, learned the dance. The tape is broken time ago. How I could get the DVD?

  • Where the hell is the 3 step or is it we dance different in So.Cal.?

Lose the shirt man otherwise then that keep it up.

  • What 3 step?...This is rock n roll as for the shirt WTF is all that about?

  • lol....what is a 3 step! And the shirt is horrible man. But to each his own.

Otherwise as I said since you focused on the negative, Keep It Up.

  • If you were into the 50's as I am you would know this is a genuine 50's gaberdine shirt. Why would I wear anything else? Ive still no idea what your reference to a 3 step is all about?...We dont do steps...We dance :)

  • @toad1951

There are no steps. The only steps are the ones you add if

    you want to improvise.

  • You are the King Kav

  • The more i watch the video, the more i enjoy it. Gonna give it a go, soon,

  • I wish it was that simple to learn. I think personal tuition is what I need ;-)

Then again, a dance parter that didn't just stand there throwing me around and letting me do all the work might make it easier too ;-)

  • It really is that simple...Ive spent 25yrs making it so :)

  • Haaaa but no. You do make it look simple but I keep coming back to watch and try out and think it may take more years than I have left to master.

I'm certainly not saying I don't enjoy trying though :-)

  • I own the dvd and it really is easy. You only need a dance partner, and that's my problem. lol

  • @subvert3 a good dance partner doesn't throw you around, he controls the dance, you just have to learn to relax and follow... I hope you find one!

  • What a great dance video

  • are creepers ok to dance in?

  • only if you can dance in them :)

  • Cool men! u rock!!!!

i whish dance like u jajajajaja

im trying this later!!!! wish me luck! jaj

  • ahaha circle skirts .... geez that's why i hate youtube

  • its just not the same with the girl in jeans, i know thats so you can see what shes doing but it looks so much better in a circle skirt dress :)

its more fun to dance like this in the full skirts too :P

  • We are rockabillies...we dont wear circle skirts :)

  • Hi Kav

Congratulations on passing the 100,000 views with your excellent clip

  • Hey Kav! thats brill m8 thanks been a bit stale over the years(since the late seventies) gonna get the wife to try the moves post some more m8 plz

  • Hey Kav, this is fun but why do you keep your partner so far? she can't have a good balance therefore she has no groundation at all and her spins are awful, keep her closer to you and she will gain better control and will spin with ease and it will be much prettier to see and fun for her to dance!

  • WTF...?

  • He keeps her so far so you can see what he is doing!!! Otherwise you couldn't see what was happening!! It's a tutotial! DUH!!!!

  • Kav is a professional dance teacher and knows exactly what he is doing. This is not a dance competition or exam, it is just to show beginers the basic moves.

  • Nice video. It makes me want to learn it and -even better- it makes me think I could be able to learn it.

  • you wouldnt have the basic rock n roll steps would ya? would come in handy before i try those moves lol xD thx appreciate it.

  • Hi, there are no steps. Just walk progressively in time to music as you do the moves. Its the natural way to dance :)

  • oh i see. thought that maybe basic swing-like steps were used in rock n roll dancing, my mistake... :) im a history nut and i love everything about the 50s and 60s and so on, but dont know much about dancing hehe xD

    ty for ur quick reply.

  • Neat vid, chaps.

If anyone needs more soundtrack to practice to, checkout rockabillyDJ,com

There is even an hour long episode consisting entirely of jivers!

  • hey.. is there a way i can get a series on videos for rockabilly dancing from beginner to advanced? i live in cali...

  • whats the song?

  • The song is called Guitar Pickin Man by The Cobras. Especially made for the video

    Regards

    Kav Kavanagh

  • Learn to jive at Kav Kavanagh's School Of Rock 'n' Roll (former British & European Champion)

For class details visit jiveafter5 co uk (classes in Kent, Surrey and North London) See Ya There...Suzy Q ;)

  • dothejive, I learned all my moves from this guy.. where in Cali are you from? =doowopmario=

  • CALIFORNIA GIRL HERE, AND WANT TO DANCE WITH KAV!! L.A./SF jivers are great and all but can I DANCE WITH THE MASTER?

I noticed when I dance with my u.k. buddies they do a circling hand motion, love dancing the different styles makes me look GOOD...HAHAHA

  • cool

    i want to learn this!

  • it rox !!

  • All three sequences are really nice, either seperately or together. They would work nicely with a 6-count Lindy Hop routine, but you would have to rehearse them in advance, since the leads don't seem to be clear enough for your partner to follow cold.

  • this is great i wanna learn that

  • poor feet technix

  • No footwork is required to dance to rock n roll...its the proper way to jive.KK

  • Comment removed

  • As a ballroom jive dancer I find that many people play the music too fast, so this looks like a nice way to skip the chasse's and do something interesting. great

  • I'm watching. how do you do it if your partner does not know the moves. david.

  • Not sure what your point is here?KK

  • really great i want to learn that to!

  • Psychobilly forever !

But this is really really coooool.

  • 20th.Century Music. As a complete novice to dancing, this is a great video.I am learning Lindy Hop,and this compliments that style of dancing very well.

    Great.

  • Hi Kav. Love the new number plate!

  • Have I claimed that this is West Coast Swing anywhere ? I have never tagged this video as WCS. or claimed it is WCS?

Are you wrongly assuming I have done so.. or are you meant to be commenting on a different video ?

This video is clearly marked in the title as ROCKABILLY JIVE !

It may have picked up in your search because I have mentioned WCS in the " About this video " along with most of the other non-ballroom dances too.

  • "then there are other types of similar dances like ...West Coast Swing" I'm sure its a wonderful example of Rockabilly jive and I can see the similarities to maybe jitterbug, Lindy hop, etc but in my opinion it does not have many similarities (if any) with West Coast. Not a criticism in anyway just an observation.

  • Hi shoequeen06

You are QUITE RIGHT in what you say. I have today just altered & updated the More Details section of this video.

Well these things take a lot of getting round to doing !

Thanks again for pointing out my error

    G

  • It will now certainly pick up in any WCS search as you YOURSELF have used the term in your

    " Comment " above

Welcome to the world of computer searches

  • funtastic...easy to learn, once the memory muscles kick in just those sequences could eat up a whole song, can` wait to learn em`....wondering if they`d work with different beats like triple step timing....thanx so much---dan n` pimster

  • this is so much better than jive nation ( i did leave them a very strong comment after seeing there vid) who the hell whants to jive to watered down rave music, i saddly do not jive any more due to ill health, but whent to Maddys clases they are nice people they make learning fun and tey can burn up the floor but they have a more 40s feel , i suspect you know them if you are on the scean.
