  • Loved your vid TU :-). There's nothing quite like being on the footplate of a steam engine. Seems like 6024 rides nice and smoothly.

    Got hooked on steam when I lived in Rajasthan. I used to go on the footplate of one of the last meter gauge steam expresses (Jaipur/Ajmer), which wasn't that long ago. (Easy to get a 'lift' if you spoke Hindi!). The 2 cylinder YP 4-6-2s really used to waddle down the track when power applied at slow speeds but were pretty good at max speed (80-90....kph!!!).
