  • I think NBC, no??

  • Received ABMQ4 from Port Moresby PNG during my time; 1975-1979 (+MVQ6). Stacked ChannelMaster "Crossfires", rotator, coax, Kingray 20db VHF masthead amp!

July-Aug yearly, NQ signals would 'fade-in' from snow. Cairns & Townsville in particular staying virtually 'rock steady' in full-colour for about two weeks. The signals tended to slowly fade over weeks ending about October/Novermber. Others logged: TVNZ Network 1, then Ch0 Brisbane, Sydney, Melb. ABC Wagga Wagga, NBN3 etc.

  • Thanks for supplying details of your interesting PNG DX TV experiences. Do you know George Francis? I recall that George(Port Moresby) received Japanese ChJ1 TV via evening TEP circa 1978.

  • Correct. The local news ran weekdays from 1855-1900 local time. The national ABC bulletin kicked in at 1900. The ABMQ4 local news is proceeded by the national bulletin relayed from ABQ2 Brisbane. In addition to ABMQ4, ABWN5A and ABHN5A each had their own local news. I recall that the local news was phased out around the mid 1980s.

  • Would this be back in the days when ABC did local news?
