  • wat brand of MH are those an how many K's ?

  • i have that dresser, what a p.o.s, idk how the hell yours is holding a fish tank, i wouldnt even think of putting my fish tank on my dresser.

  • nice tanks, are you setting up the larger tank?

  • im starting a nano 10 gallon how many kelvins should i have if i want an anenome? thanks and sweet tanks

  • Thanks. I'd use only fluorescent dual 10K + actinic. good luck

  • @sharkchum87 your gonna need some strong light to keep a nem. You cant just use some normal aquarium light

  • i was thinking of using a 400w hps light in small closet to grow a few vegtables in a closet during the winter months. Will this bulb make the closet too hot without ventalation. if i need ventilation, what would you recomend? and what about a 250w bulb? any feedback would be appreciated

  • that sounds like pot to me. lol it will work just cut a hole in the wall and add a fan. that would work fine. if it is pot try putting some sort of filter to trap the smells in that room. think cat litter box filters.

  • You will need ventilation BIG time. Otherwise you veggies will fry

  • dose the water get hot.

  • Normally you need a chiller if you use MH bulbs

  • what kind of room are you keeping this tank in ?

  • what kind of bulb is on the other smaller tank

  • Satellite orbit dual fluorescent 130 W total

  • small

  • has any one tried the blue hid lights for cars... that looks like my foglights

  • i think you cant even gonna fall asleep if that light was on huh haha just sayin though....

  • Nice Lighting...must be 20.000k?

  • Yup

  • what brand and color temperature are the MH bulbs in the larger tank?

  • 20 000K. DO not remember brand

  • in this video did it take 30 seconds for the halides to come to full power ??

  • That;s how it normally works.

  • just wondering cuz my metal halides take alteast 2 or 3 minutes to come to full power

  • I have 8 t5 ho on a 90 and i could grow any thing i want

  • what is your total t5 power output?

    Do you have Acropora sp?

  • they are all 54w normal driven and i have a few frags of acro.

  • hi For a 50g (36x18x18) is it enough to use only 1 150W 20000K MH? thank you

  • I would say yes. MH are mostly for eye pleasing or if you want to grow acropora sp.

For the later one you would have to put your coral right under your MH bulb.

    Good luck

  • Thanks for the reply, i have it done 150W 20K MH for my 36x18x18 reef tank. it's blue and it gives a very nice shimmer effect, i have no plans for acropora sp yet, im thinking of adding 2 more bulbs what do you suggest? thanks

  • Metal halides come in different colors/spectrums.

The blue in this vid looks like its the wallpaper behind the tank, just and illusion.

Need actinics or 20k halide to get deep blue effect.

Halides do offer the best shimmer effect, that is if you have some water movement at the surface.

  • True. I have 2 X 250W 20K

  • if u have a reef tank and only a couple of fish can u light the tank with just blue actinic lights or do u need a white light for the fish to survive

  • Halides always better than fluorescent.... if you can afford them

  • are the metal halide bulbs what gives the tank that blueish tint?

  • They do. Their spectra shifted strongly into a bluish wavelength

  • wow that bright :)

  • looks nice!

  • check your drawers

  • Just one. The other one is regular aqua stand

  • I would be to neverous to have a tank sitting on a not so strong looking wood dresser

  • what brand MH are you using on the big tank?

  • 2X250 WATTS/ 75 gallons

  • i certainly checked it prior

  • how much was the light for the smaller tank

  • sattelite orbit fluorescent light fixture 2 dual 65 watts bulbs

  • ooww my eyes

  • its a camera effect

  • did u put another video about your new big tank dude?

  • Hey I have a 12g aquapod with 54w of PC lighting, do you think I could put a bubble tip anemone in it?

  • Bubble tips are not the easiest creatures to handle. Other factors than light are more important in their well being.

  • i have lots of supplements, do 20% water changes weekly and strong flow

  • i would put everything in the big tank..

  • how much?

  • fixture?

  • How many gallon is the other reef fish tank? what kind of stuff do you use for your other saltwaterfish tank? what kind of corals and sea anemones you have in your other saltwaterfish tank?

  • 29. Sattelite Orbit, dual fluorescent 130W total. Red Cap Montipora, Zoas, Xenia, Briarium, Tubastrea, Mushrooms, Ricordia etc...

  • ooh, ooh, MEEE!

  • isnt that a bit too much juice?

  • im pretty sure you can never have too much lighting

  • You can, depending on your inhabitants and how susceptible to algae your tank is.

  • haven't seen any. Other factor are detrimental for algae growth. NO3, PO4, low current

  • i just ordered a halide fixture. is the light always in your eyes like that?

  • no it is just a camera effect .

  • 500 watts of MH on a fish tank? that's overkill.

  • so far so good. I only ran them for 4 hours a day, the rest of the day it ran on 160W fluorescent

  • i have 1100 on mine and i dont think its enough

  • not really i have 3 250watt MH bulbs and 4 96watt PC's over my 130gal

  • expensive on light bill?

  • I only ran 'em for 3h/day. Yet ;-) Until I hook up my chiller.

  • i have 760 watts and it raised my bill $30 a month since i got it.
