I don't know about you but I've had issues with incandescent bulbs not only wasting huge amounts of electricity but also burning out far too often for my tastes. I have track lighting in a room with very high ceilings and so getting out a ladder tall enough to reach the bulbs was a pain in the ass. Make sure you bend out the pin in the sockets and sand them of corrosion, otherwise your bulbs will burn out prematurely CFL, LED or incandescent.
@imzjustplayin i got news for u. CFLs dont last any longer than incandescents. i cant argue too much LEDs although here in new york, we have LED traffic lights and every few months, i see the crews changing light bulbs from those traffic lights. so basically, people are wasting all that money on energy efficient bulbs that last as long as incandescents. There are no savings there
To convinced cfl lamps fans: you have to ask yourself how much energy was used to produce the bulb, and how much pollution cfl factories produce.
I read of many CFL factory workers intoxicated by mercury and going straight to hospital to deintoxicate (and then they will wait for health problems, as cancer).
How will cost dismantling recycling those bulbs?
Or will they be thrown in the recycle bin?
Some humans have the tendency to make money over others humans, usually more stupid than first.
Just bought this bulb off Amazon and it is AMAZING!!!
Mercury can be found in fish Mackerel (King), Marlin, Orange Rough, Swordfish or Tuna More than .5 Parts Per Million
CFLs have dropped mercury content to 1.4 – 2.5 milligrams per light bulb
If people are going to be this picky over small amounts of mercury, then they need to look at how much energy (natural resources) they are wasting with incandescent light bulb. MAYBE YOU SHOULD LIGHT A CANDLE.
@w1descreen you may think its wasting energy but incandescents have nicer light quality and work in all places. All this talk about CFLs being good for the environment is all bull shit. Greenies wana brain wash ppl into thinking that cfls last longer and save energy. They save CFLs last at least 10 years. Well most of them dont last long. I have incandecents that havent burnt out in 5 years. I am not using shitty light just cuz of a moronic myth that cfls will prevent global warming.
Pure Spectrum has now patented a CFL build that is fully dimmable(no flicker or dying out), instant on, cold to the touch, highest power factor(.96), and the energy usage is proportional to the dimming level, the light output is that of an incandescent and the price will be in the $4-$6 range. This is the answer to the NEW CFL!
Hopefully the bulbs will be on Home Depot and Wal Mart shelves soon.
The issue with previous types of CFL dimmers was that the amount of power consumed by the bulb was the same regardless of the dimming. From what I understand these PureSpectrum bulbs actually consume less energy as you dim them. They own the patent for this technology and are going to be the type of bulb that will be federally mandated for use. That's why I jumped on board with their stock!
I replace lights for the government of Alberta. We find that T8 bulbs, CFLs and other low volt alternatives DO NOT last as long as regular bulbs. They are incredibly fragile, and give off too much heat around their bases. They are also very sensitive to power fluctuations shortening their life. The worst brand we have found is Phillips Alto.
Incandescants, DEFITNITELY for the win. CFLs look like pure shit

CFLs suck

awesome, but with incandescent the colo gets warmer as the light gets dimmer.

Mercury and other toxins are contained in CFLs. Hopefully Home Despot will ban them.

There is a lot of evidence to contradict your claim, if you're saying that incandescent bulbs outlast compact fluorescents.

this is neat. where can I get a CFL that can dim like this?
