@Duplmar Yup. Can't hear him at all. The only thing that made this song great was the bass, and they've mixed it out of existence. Too bad. I'm surprised he isn't using a pick; he said the only way you could play it was with a pick.
Moon came home from the Galleria in Sherman Oaks speaking "Valspeak" and Frank thought it was great. So, he wrote the song, then she improvised over top of the song in five takes. He cut the takes up ... picking what he liked from all five and making the final recording.
Then the song became his only hit. So, Moon made Frank and family a lot of money, but either she or Frank didn't want to go out on the road with it. In 1984, she was still in school and by '88 she was working as a VJ.
remember HOLLYWOOD VIDEO? In the cult section, there was a movie, starring Zappa's kids, including Moon, where they got 'naked", I forgot the name of it. Anybody remember?
I enjoyed watching Moon's sister Diva dance on the side of the stage during the encore of my first ZPZ show (June 2006). Wow - ZPZ is five years old? Wow.
Moon's still a babe. And I've always loved her personality and spirit. Good to see Dweezil paying homage to his dad by playing Frank's old SG guitar.Yeah, both Moon and Dweezil come from a pretty cool family. Looks like Moon's daughter has some Zappa in her, too. ;) I'm proud to have been born in the San Fernando Valley!!!
@Bk19731973 Well, first of all Frank Zappa and his family would support your right to express yourself however you'd like. Although your negativity makes no sense. If you are a fan of FZ, then you'd know that his family is up there performing to celebrate him. If you aren't, then why are you watching this? Also - why is another person's background any of your business? You might want to become a bit more introspective and educate yourself. Good luck in life - I think you'll need it!
Once you get past the comedic value of this song (and not to mention others straight back into the early Mothers stuff like Brown Shoes and Mother People) you realize that the music is absolutely amazing! Frank was a musical genius, and I hope one day will go down in history as one of the most prolific and intelligent of composers of the 20th century. Kudos to Dweezel and the FPF band for pulling it off live.
@drujon - As Bobby Martin said in an Interview, sometimes the Fans end up remembering more than the Artists do. I think mainly because while the Fans only have to listen to it and remember it cause they love it, the Band Members have to remember it cos its their Job. After that they have other thigns to learn to, so a prompt like a Sheet of Lyrics or Music is good to help.
Moon is still really beautiful but she was hot in her 20s. If Frank brought her to Stockholm '88 and I had known about it, I would have asked him for the permission to meet her using the words "I really like your music, but Moons eyes and lips beat that big time". If I was allowed to meet her I would probably have told her "Hi, uhm ... uhm ... uhm" as a 17-18 year old swedish guy maybe would have. That stuttering of mine would have meant "You are really beautiful and I want to kiss and hug you."
First Yes that is Scott you can tell by his dancing/headbanging he also was in Dweezil and Ahmet's band Z for a short time though he is Very Hard to get along with Frank and the boys seem to love the guy
Amazing Video i feel fortunate to have seen it Thank You SOOOO Much
Since Matilda has Frank's b-day, let's all pray and PRAY HARD that she grows up to challenge the 'conventional wisdom' of today's music and moves it to change from within - GOD KNOWS WE NEED THAT!!!
Mummy, what are you doing?
