I Liked Follyfoot ,in fact it was fantastic ,but Flambards was pretty good .Which one was the best Follyfoot or Flambards ,,there's only one way to find out ,no fighting ,,just go to facebook --Follyfoot v Flambards ,,see you there .
Where is Gillian ?,are you safe ?,need to know ? ...I started to work in a racing yard when I was 19 and I scared and green .Follyfoot was an inspiration to me and got me through some tough times .Thank -you everybody involved
@ITT56RLC After visiting the farmhouse (see other posts) I contacted Gillian's agent who told me she had married and moved to Norfolk, if I remember rightly. Her agent was happy to pass on a letter in which I expressed my appreciation of the series and the hospitality of the family who were living there. I mentioned that she would be assured of a warm welcome if she visited in the future. I was told by the family that Arthur English had visited some time earlier. No idea if Gillian ever has.
I bet Gillian is reading this :P we'll never know. hi Gillian from New Zealand! does anyone know what happened to the actual Tree? must been cut down for firewood ay..
@chevyvictor When I visited the farmhouse in 1978 (see above) the Lightning Tree had just been felled and what was left of it was awaiting disposal, though whether for firewood I don't know. I grabbed a piece as a souvenir but didn't keep it. I believe the tree was not original but had been put there especially for the series.
@maninthestreet01 In 1978 while on holiday from New Zealand I visited the Harewood estate and the chap in the estate office was happy to point out where the series was filmed, without even being asked! What's more he gave me the phone number of the family who were living there so I could arrange a visit. They made me most welcome, let me sign the visitor's book and offered me a pair of wellington boots so I could wander around outside and take photos. Definitely a highlight of my holiday!
series was not made. Gillian Blake, was excellent in the lead role. Being interested
in Horses and a rider at the time, drew my attention to this series and like so many persons of this era was captivated by the storylines everyweek especially between "Steve" and "Dora." The stories
were very original and combined a love
of horses. I have the "Follyfoot" triple disc boxset and booklet on the series.
Folks,in 2011 this wonderful show celebrates its 40th anniversary and with that in mind what about a celebration weekend in the area it was filmed and with fans, crew and dare i say it...surviving members of cast...let me know what you think.
Hi Rosebeth, I watched all of Follyfoot week by week in my youth & have for the last 3 years re lived it all by DVD through the dark winter nights. I dream of a small group of fans standing just up from the muck midden as Dora & Steve come out from the boxes & say hello to us all As Ron rides the bike through the gate, Fantastic ( I can dream ). However If you can get this together I would love to be there on a nice sunny summers day BBQ & all.
Like "life on mars" I will one day go back to follyfoot and be either "copper\2 or steve and this time I won't let her get away like that muppet steve did!! Steve! If you had married dora I could have excepted that and been happy knowing you would have made her happy-oh well looks like I will have to do it when I go back. Thanks for the vid buffallo
I love Follyfoot ^.^ I read the books a while ago and my mum got the DVDs for my bday! We got the first 2 series, watched it in 2 days and couldn't believe it was over, then we found the third series, got that as well and have barely recovered 2 months later. The ending is absolutely heartbreaking! I wish they had done another series =( I wish I'd been around when it first came on, because I could have talked to my friends about it, but seeing as I'm 16 that's not possible!
Have they decided to make the locations a tourist attraction yet? I'm sure it would be a worthwhile decision.

@JulieJackson1 No, its located on the private Harewood Estate, strangely enough Emmerdale is filmed on the same estate.

@littmann03 wow great feedback! thanks :)

They want to keep the location secret, but say it's 7 miles from Leeds, in the heart of the Harewood estate - probably not that difficult to find.

haha google earth it the Lake gives it away

@maninthestreet01
