I said it many times before and I'll say it again. Any landing that you can walk away from is not a bad landing. All those who slam the pilot, I challenge you to see what a glider is like during strong winds. And gliders aren't real good for cross wind landings.
911 was planned by M. My brother Markus Bott was tortured during 5.5 years and was assassinated on 11.7.09 by the BND because of our homepage
@davew8572 uh.... evidently YOU would moron. And I quote "the pilot told me to get out at 50 feet and get a parachute ..." Btw.... SOP is to grab the chute BEFORE exiting the aircraft. At least, that's how we do it in the Air Force. Just saying...
you can TRY and repair something like this, but everything you want to do has to be cleared by the FAA, FUCK that, it's faster to buy a new ship, and have it shipped from the other side of the world, rather than go through stuff with the FAA
Nothing in life is "safe" its about risk management. We should band the word safe! Flying is truly not safe its full of danger, but one of the most majestic disciplines ever know to man.
I give you right BUT flying is safer then driving a car, and even walking is full of danger: you slip out and fall on your head and get a bleeding in your brain.
But most of the time with flying...if it happens it is serious
safer than living in a lot of neighborhoods around the world
safer than being a police officer
and most of all, much more safe than driving, cuz 1 you don't have nearly as much traffic to deal with, and 2 less likely of an accident cuz you're not gonna find Flyers under Influence, Drunk Flyers, Stupid fliers, Underexperienced flyers (well not as many as drivers) etc
I'm quite new too. If it is something like that it'd think it would be to much rudder. That's more dangerous than to little rudder because with to much rudder you have a wind shadow on the slower wing, which is double dangerous.
Seems all crash energy transferred in rolling over the center, and than passed into tail, stocked on land. Thus pilot saved. If no rolling, result could be other.
to be fair, gliding is alot safer than power flying, majority have no engine, parachutes are mandatory and all glider cockpits are built with similar crash protection, crumple zones, as F1 racing cars.
If you're going to fall from the sky, do it in a glider, not a power plane: In a glider you get time to choose your landing, in a power plane it chooses you!
Glider cockpits like F1 cars? Not the last time I looked! My feet are inches from the nose of my glider, with nothing but GRP in between.
ok, ther not "like" as in "look lik" but they are designed, from a safety point of view, as F1 cars, crumple zones etc. wel, the more modern ones are lol
CBSift, I disagree with your comment saying a power plane chooses the landing sight and not you in the event of an off field landing.
I have been flying powered aircraft for more than 10 years. I have had 1 complete engine failure and had to force land. In a glide most light aircraft will descend at around 300 - 500 ft/min. From 2000ft I had plenty of time. There was no damage to me or the aircraft. At that time I only had 80hrs flying experience.
From an instructor's point of view, tomprid3 might be right. The crumple zone's the student's seat . Yet I don't think you should crash nose-down (90°) or hit a wall while landing to survive.
I think that proves how strong and durable modern gliders are, i presume the nimbus was written off but the pilot only had minor injuries?! today's gliders are not as flimsy as most people think.
Wrecked em. these pics are rectum.

well that's one way of solving the problems connected with a stuck up undercarriage and having to belly land it.
as for the glider defiantly a write of not even worth considering repairing in my eyes
