  • @bigmac638 okay cool i actually didn't get angry at all. just kinda wanted to point out when someone comments something pointless. yo check out someone else if you're gonna accuse them of youtube arguing, i kinda go around trying to prevent that kinda thing. so i jumped on your comment because it was aggravating, and then apologized and dipped out. i was done 2 comments ago. l8r

  • @bigmac638 ..........i fail to see your point. anyone can exercise, it's a self-constructive activity. even if he truly isn't in that great of shape, at least he's in a video demonstrating ways to improve fitness. that aside, i'd bet a bundle that bit of chub on his belly wouldn't stop him from skying or breaking away from someone like but not necessarily but most definitely you; big mac 638, for example.

  • So when you're picking exercises for a workout program your primary goal is to work as many muscles at the same time as possible? Not always the best idea, man. Sometimes you need to isolate. Sometimes you don't need to bring your hips into the movement when you're trying to build your back strength and musculature. I disagree that turning lifts into full body movements are the way to go. Also, cardio does not need to be done in the weight room. Seems inefficient.

  • @UltimateLifter Nope...this was a how to video on a couple diff exercises...I do a circuit workout with all 4 of these to help crush my upper body and simulate what its going to feel like in the last few games on Sunday

    Anyways, I agree that endurance training has it's place in a program, but I feel that getting stronger and rate of force development are two things important for any athlete, especially ultimate players. Maybe endurance/circuit training like you specified during season and strength/power training off season would be best.

  • @ScottieTYX I can't offer a video, but I can offer some friendly text advice. Plyometrics are your friend for increasing vertical leap. Keep the reps low so you can give all your effort in short bursts, otherwise you're just doing cardio. Think 3 sets of 5, or 5 sets of 3. Exercises such as bounding, broad jumping, and box jumps are good examples of plyometric exercises.

    In the weight room you need to work on max strength as well as rate of force development (ROFD).

  • @ScottieTYX To increase max strength just means to work with heavy weights and low reps in the big, compound lifts (squat, bench press, overhead press, deadlift, etc). To help with ROFD you need to work with lower weight (50-70% of your 1rm) and work on being explosive with that weight for only a few reps at a time. People often do 8 sets of 2 or 3 for speed/box squats and speed bench. The king of ROFD, though, would probably be power cleans. Definitely worth adding into any athletes schedule

  • Seems like a really close grip on both of them. For chins I like to do shoulder width, but for pull ups I prefer a little bit wider than shoulder width, as if you were making a Y shape with your arms.

  • i like kipping pull ups because of the explosive workout. when done right, they do more for you than straight pull ups and engage more muscles more intensely. maybe consider doing a how to on kip pull-ups just to get the word out?

  • @kwang22 how so? i mean besides hitting your face on the bar. i've been doing kipping pull ups for 3 years as a part of my crossfit training and they have been tremendously helpful for me. i was trained to do them by a man who has been doing them for nearly 20 years and has very healthy shoulders, elbows, and abdominal/obliques. he preaches by kipping. just wondering what you have to say about it.

  • @InovaArchangelDX3 correction: DEADHANG pull ups are supposed to isolate the back muscles. kipping pull ups are supposed to work a mixture of lats, obliques, upper abs, and spinal muscles for longer creating a better burn for exercise due to the fact that you reach the point of exhaustion not the point of "i can't do my 9th deadhang because i'm too tired to initiate the movement." they both serve their own purpose, but kipping pull ups will do much better for you in the longrun.

Exercises like lat pull down and row are good for building the endurance to do deadhangs but still, in the longrun, kippings will work more muscles more completely and teach your spinal muscles control. it also makes for some insane cardio. the fact is however that not many people do kippings correctly. they are complex, and as such should be trained into use.

  • @gor5kibrohuck if you want better abs do crunches and sit ups, better lats do PULL UPS, better obliques do side planks. kipping is what people do when they get tired and break form. and i dont know why you call them deadhang pull ups, your elbows are not even supposed to lock...apparently you had a below average gym teacher

  • @InovaArchangelDX3 okay see now you're taking it to the point of disrespect. after i specifically told you not to go there. sir, i don't know why you take it so personally that i like kipping pull ups and have legitimate reasons why i do. they are a part of crossfit, they have helped make me stronger, and they definitely hold a place in the world of training. try some sometime, they are definitely not as easy as they may seem. i am not going to insult your gym teacher; or you, because it's dumb.
