  • Is this gandolf, sounds just like him?

  • God this game was great. Didn't really get into the campaign that much, but I played hours and hours of skirmishes.

  • this game needs a joystick. in fact, u need all keyboard/mouse too. it can b mastered, few can. i have mastered it enough to play it. i played it for hours , battling ships, planets, u actually feel it as a event. i beaten captain kirk. destroyed enterprize. kirk had a very bad day.

  • I've been saying it for years, they need to produce a series on the Klingons. You could do it from the 2100s to the 2300s We've seen the human perspective. They could do a show on the Klingons. From long time enemies to allies. Episode ideas would be endless.

  • @chrismc410 Great Idea! Would LOVE to see Worf figure into the timestream somehow. Maybe pick up his ambassador's appointment to the Federation after the Dominion War? THAT would be a great series too.

  • @ramester If not Worf directly, one of his ancestors. You already have his grandfather and great uncle (Colonel Worf and Commander Thok Mak) Why not show his father, Mogh? We keep hearing about him, I say its time we see who Mogh was. I could see Michael Dorn or Tony Todd (Kurn) play Mogh.

  • @chrismc410, bro, that is SO awesome...Mogh? Oh YES! I can JUST see him before the birth of Worf. Hey...Dorn played his own Grandpa. Why NOT!

  • General Chang might be considered a traitor, but then again, so was George Washington. Chang's my all time favorite Star Trek character.

  • My heart broke when I saw that K'tinga bite the dust at the beginning... that's my favorite Klingon ship class. But at least it went down in GLORIOUS BATTLE!!!

  • I love General Chang. This is awesome!

  • Such a brilliant game this was...and freakin' hard too!

  • 2 p’tachs dislike this!!!

  • ok screw bridge commander, where can I get this game!!!

  • @aerohurtz Its pretty hard to find today. I am thinking about uploading my original disks to some warez sites because this game really rocks (aside the fact that it has terrible controls :D)

  • Klingon ships look so badass.

  • Quoting Shakespeare + Killing the enemy personally = Chang The Badass

  • isn't chang somewhat of a Half man / Half Klingon?

  • @maggedude I think they did that to make Christopher Plummer more recognisable as he is a pretty big actor

  • @jkarani I hear you, but here is why Interplay went out of business. They were doing excellently then they were bought up by a company called Titus when they went public. Titus wanted to focus on console gaming, and they released a bunch of horrible games. Eventually, TItus went under. Interplay was one of the greatest gaming companies, but it was run into the ground by Titus.

  • this was awesome :)

  • Cool to see Chang without the patch! This is a cool opening and for the time the effects weren't half bad.

  • @sserpent21 Christopher Plummer is just awesome through and through!

  • i can't believe they got Chris Plummer to do this!

  • If that's not the coolest video game introduction ever, I don't know what is.

  • @jkarani The company grew too much, it had over 500 employees in the late 90's, and although their games were selling, licensing cost a lot, and they were paying the external studios as well. It had several unsuccessful projects and also, it hat no recognizable console game, in the booming Playstation/N64 market.

But things were getting better, it was about to get bought up by another company, but then Titus came along and drove in into the ground. The Interplay you see now, that's still Titus.

  • At 0:17 remembers me at Captain Proton because of this Earth. The music's good.

  • why do you need a transporter room when you can just beam yourself off the bridge

  • @bertyao You still need a transporter. It's called site-to-site transport. It's generally not used except in emergencies (like beaming a criticially injured person directly to sickbay) because it uses twice the energy of beaming on or off the transporter pad.

  • @toddsmitts Transporters of that era could barely handle site to site transport or intraship beaming as it was called then. It really wasn't perfected until the 24th Century.

  • @jkarani The approval of gamers =/= financial sustainability

  • Interplay's games were great but unfortunately, they never really sold well. Planescape: Torment for example, probably their most critically acclaimed game, and probably one of the best RPG's ever made, only sold between 100,000 to 200,000 copies.

That's kind of what happened to a lot of these companies like Interplay, New World Computing, and Sir Tech. They made awesome games but they just didn't sell well.

  • Best star trek game ever

  • Chris Plummer is quite an actor

  • Comment removed

  • @jkarani They went out of buisness AFTWER all of the good games.

Their CEO canceled Fallout 3 a few times in favor of spinoffs, and basicly stopped trying to do anything good.

The people that made this game, that made Fallout ?

    They all got laid off.

Then suddenly, they start going under

  • wwwDOTklingonacademyDOTcom/showthreadDOTphp?t=33224

  • @jkarani You know they fired like the whole dev team for klingon academy right? Maybe thats why cause they killed the continued development

  • A game vid with Christopher Plummer? It's not even CG it's him right there... wow... thats the best haha

  • Chang an amatuer. Not likely.

  • How can this be the intro?

    The story is over already!

  • @aRomanSoldier Different rebellion. This guy's an amateur compared to Melkor.

  • @aRomanSoldier

what do you mean over ? This game was based before the events in the movies

  • best game ever

  • @R4Akai Amen to that. I'm still waiting for KA2 but sadly that's not coming anytime soon. I wish a respectable developer would pick up the license and make a sequel. Can you imagine what it would look like with today's level of technology?

  • @TheRealityJack

    Thanks for the advice m8,

    I'll give it a go

  • could someone give me some advice on gettin gthis to work on Windows7 64bit?

I've tried all the usual stuff but it hasnt worked.

    Love this game

  • @Riiiiiich555

It works fine for me, when I use compatibility mode for Win2000 and deactivate Star Field or something like that in the options

  • @jkarani Dunno, though me and my friends played all of their games in the past and bought none of them :D lulz

  • I loved this game! I was so pised when it was coming up with errors on my new computer. Now i can't play it anymore.

  • For me this game is a legend, far ahead of its time, i still have the game but unable too play it.

I Think Cryptic should of used this as a template for STO, the new MMO that was released this year.

    Would have made more fans.

  • @Democritus8181 well General Chang's prediction of war with the Federation eventually does come through in ST online. It was one of the better decisions by Cryptic to make the Klingons feared once again and not the pussies of TNG era where they are allies of the Federation.

  • @Democritus8181 As an STO player, I completely agree!!

  • @jkarani poor money management by the company.

  • @ktinga Although I hear Vivendi screwed with their management as well

  • Interplay are back in business, they're making a Fallout MMO.

  • @darthbandon10

Wow, this isn't a joke right? Got a link to where you heard this?

  • @TimmyTheNerd interplay[dot]com

From the horse's mouth. They got out of debt by selling the Fallout IP to Betheseda for FO3, but this hasn't stopped the MMO.

  • HI

HAS ANYONE GOT THE KA FILE FOR THE FEDERATION STARBASE

    (ST III,IV,V,VI)

NOT THE STANDARD VERSION THAT COMES WITH THE GAME - I MEAN ONE THAT ALLOWS STAR SHIPS IN SIDE? PLEASE HELP - I LOST MINE+THE SIGHT I DOWNLOADED IT FROM HAS GONE! IVE GOT PLENTY OF FILES TO SHARE!

    CHEERS! NICK

  • let the Klingons kill each other off, that's what I say!

  • pretty cool.

  • @jkarani cocaine's a hell of a drug.

  • I'm glad Chang got an entire game, he deserved more than just one movie. :(

  • @NodDisciple1 I really hope JJA will bring him back... he was the greatest.

  • @NodDisciple1 agreed

  • any idea how i can get this to play on my imac os x

  • saw this game making £95 on flee bay

  • Oooooooooooooooooh maaaaan. I remember Star Fleet Academy from when I was a youngin... I never knew this game existed.

    ... must find it somewhere

  • My God, he's the Klingon Picard!

  • @parasynaxis H'e way cooler then Picard, he actually fights and has true leadership qualities unlike Picard who is more of a Diplomat

  • Adore the Chang character.

    "In this decadent age" indeed

  • this game worked on vista. before i updated vista. it worked on a straight out of the box vista OS. not updated.

  • Chang is one bad-ass Klingon.

  • Um... that dialogue was very un-Klingon. It should have had some name calling, and then fighting.

  • Thats how my man Chang rolls.

  • Why?

  • @LadyeXo Actually Chang is the most Klingon-liki Klingon in this whole sequence, if we are talking about TOS/Movie era klingons. They were devious, smart, courteous and engmatic. It is only in the Next Generation that Klingons become idiot barbarian death metal cartoons.

  • @LadyeXo Chang is an unusual Klingon, often quoting Shakespeare, having a smooth even temper and later on using good tactics in the simulator to train the elite cadets. That's what makes General Chang one of the most memorable characters in star trek mythos.

  • @hamanu666 i find that the TOS klingons are more like Chang, not necassiraly in terms of intelligence or personality, but with the more human like demeanor. i hate how ever since TNG Klingons have been nothing but "space vikings"

  • This was such a fucking epic game.

  • I really wish I could play this again. I spent more time than I would like to say playing this a real classic. You could do anything you wanted the UI was a pain at times but whien you memorised the key sequences you could do some pretty amazing stuff.

  • Bring back christopher Plummer into Trek. Let him play another Klingon High General.

  • macbeth ftw!

  • Does anyone know if there is a DS version of this game?

    Thanks

  • It was a PC title only, sorry.

  • No.

  • KA was released in 2000, 4 years before the DS was made. Interplay closed down soon after, so no, only PC (and possibly Mac, not sure)

Actually reminds me of the good old days when good games came out for the PC, designed for the PC, rather than some console port that barely functions properly on a PC.

  • There is Tactical Assault. Its similar to starfleet command more than anything... but there is a klingon campaign which is pretty entertaining :).

  • Ah I have fond memories of this game. The only one to my knowledge that let you use a sun or gas giant as an offensive weapon. Game came on 6 discs. Too bad it wont work anymore.

  • i know i cant even find mine im not sure i still have it but id kill fpor it to work again remember the sword of khales and the yamato too awsome i loved this game soo much

  • Does anyone know how too run KA on windows XP, i still have the game in good condition, but with all the new tech for computers especially graphics cards, it doesnt work properly if not at all, any ideas welcome?

  • Use virtualPC

install an old OS on it, and run it there :)

  • this would have been a way better idea for a movie rather than the Star Trek 5 shit...

  • Such a great intro. Possibly the most brutal one in Star Trek's history.

btw: I have the german version of KA. In the german intro, Kalnor says those last words before Chang holds his speech: "You think you've won. My family will avenge me, my curse will pursue you....aaaaaaagh".

One question: How did you convert KA's videos into avi? I've found one converter but it makes the avi files gigabytes big.

  • Ive been trying to convert the files for months with no success. I would have loved to be the first to post the KA scenes.

It would have been an honor.

  • With the right program, it isn't hard. I used for the conversion MVE2AVI and for the compression VirtualDub.

But be warned: it is really time consuming

  • The most brutal intro in Trek's history belongs to Enterprise's "In A Mirror Darkly 1 and 2".

  • no doubt!

  • They either go out of buisness. Or some other monster company buys them and screws up all there games. Westwood and EA is a good example. EA screwd up the whole Command and Conquer Series. Altho CNC3 was pretty good but still.

Oh well as for fallout. Fallout 3 you have to admit was a pretty amazing game. So hopefully a company will pick up this game and make a 2nd

  • Comment removed

  • Yea its very sad, some of the greatest games ever made in the past and the company's are outa buisness. I really hope someone takes up klingon academy and makes a 2nd one. This was the best star trek game ever

  • the greatest ST game and I have it :P

    (also the hardest)

  • This was the greatest Star Trek game ever.

  • Thank you so uch for putting these up< I've been hunting for them.

  • Awesome! I tried to find this not too long ago...and now it's up!

  • What a superb game!
