born had some pretty nice footwork.. but i wasnt astounded by any links and such. dont get me wrong.. i just think that footwork isnt practiced enough by the massive majority of bboys. everyones so caught up in leg work, body rolls and blow-ups. understandably so.. fast, powerfull, unique footwork takes a ton musicality and tedious training and can become boring to try to train at times. ...but the end result is feckin seck.
In response to the commnet w/ the most thumbs up: Of course it's not a footwork move, but it's not wrong to add a short motion like that in a set. I've seen Born in other battles do motions that seem a bit cool but irrevelent. I thought that was little smooth how he did that to the song! You heard the crowd.
@AntwoineCole In a general battle yeah, but this was explicitly a footwork battle. Backrocks and floorwork are cool, but they're not necessarily footwork.
@STARLDK well from a footwork battle i was in with born judging at the rivers studio, he stated only hands, feet, and knees should make contact with the ground. thighs, bottoms, back are not considered as footwork. But then a strifetv interview with alieness, he doesnt mind if a flare is used, as long its a transitional move. I guess, depends on what event and what judges
In my opinion born had more flow and finesse, therefore he won. Vlad is good though, I'm not going to doubt that. But look at born's feet compared to vlad's, quick and clean with emphasis on steps which is to basis of footwork he was also hitting the beat. Vlad went for more tricks as he spent most of his time swinging his legs around rather than actual footwork steps. Also the tricks he did for his second set didn't help him much either. Yeah its cool but...
