I went to a gig by ex members of Crass, all were doing their own Jazz songs and steve came on in a lovely powdery gray suit and sang 'Mrs Jones'. He was calling himself 'Steve Intellegent' for the night. Not knowing the jazz scene and its 'rules' we were kicked out for talking during the music, well we were laughing, but at our mate who was so disappointed that they were not playing Crass songs. I tried to warn him (having seen some ex-Crass playing jazz & beat poetry to their old backing films)
He did pay for the tickets so I thought it only fair to warn him. He's not known as a Jazz fan but he had been so desperate to see Crass in any form, me and another mate taking the piss because we had seen Crass live didn't help, so it was his way of saying "I've seen them too", and who was I to stop him?
great song by Crass,im 38 and first heard them in 8th grade in san diego ,they are just as good t hear now as back then..but why did the skinheads always hate them? never could figure that out..
Because skinheads were right wing orientated and Crass were openly opposed and antagonistic towards the right wing, calling them the shite bags that they are.
You should copy/paste the lyrics into your info area, for folks that aren't familiar with them. Personally, Crass lyrics are pretty much burned into my brain-- but I bet others would appreciate it. It would be WAY easier than trying to sync them with the video!
