great tutoring, i'm having problems importing videos that i have downloaded from youtube to my cyberlink PD 8 keep telling me an error in video file.. and i have downloaded files as wmv, and flv still not woring.. what am I doing wrong? plz advise

@wafrom - I’ve found that FLVs can be problematic when imported to PD for editing (especially PD8). I suggest you convert FLVs before importing to PD. I use Format Factory.

Never had a problem with WMVs in PD.

@Chiara41069 - Are you trying to use MM with video? MM only works for images in the timeline. Video Crop (in Power Tools), is for video clips. Is that perhaps the problem?

hi, i was wondering how to insert a video clip into the middle of an existing timeline? i forgot to add it to the timeline and i don't want it added to the end. and i don't want to delete or override an existing video clip. please help me. thank you. bryan

@shoepad -If I understand you correctly, simply move your scrubber (blue line) to the point you want to add your clip, and click on the Split button. Then drag your clip down to that Split mark.

If in Preferences, if you have "Link All tracks" checked, every thing else will shift, except for what you may have in the audio tracks. That changes things a bit.

@wasefW - In PD8, in Preferences ( Director’s chair > Edit > Preferences > General), there is a Language box with a dropdown menu, with several language options.

Hey! I was wondering how I can fade to white or fade to black. It only fades from black when I place a fade transition in the beginning of the video and fades out to black when it's at the end. I just wanted to learn how to fade to white (if it's possible on PowerDirector 8). Thanks!

@aznrice1989 - Thanks for dropping by. If you use the color boards available in PD, then you can place these boards before and/or after your clips and images. Then just place a transition between these boards and your other media in the timeline. Now you can fade to and from any color. @cputb1 Thanks. That helps, but it turns out that's not exactly what I'm looking for. I actually was wondering how I can create a white flash transition like the soft flash transition that's in Sony Vega. Is there a way I can create this effect? The closest I can think of is the glow transition, but the soft white flash looks nicer to me.

@aznrice1989 - I'm not sure what the white flash transistion looks like in Vegas. Can you PM me a link to an example? I'll then know if something similar can be done in PD.

@MNGStudios - It's been a while since I used v7, but yes. V7 should also have the Focus effect if I remember correctly. As matter of fact ,this an old tutorial (so I'd need to go back and check), but I may have originally created this toot in v7.

hey...Please help!!! When I try to produce my project to youtube a popup appears saying "Power director could not connect to the youtube server. Check your internet connection and try again." This has not been a problem with any of the other vids i uploaded and i have changed nothing since my last production and connection to youtube/internet is unchanged and working fine. I know this issue came up a couple of months ago when Youtube changed some proxies or something, and Cyberlink had to make adjustments to conform to YTs new changes. So CL released a patch to the newest build (2508) which included a cure for the upload problem.

I just now did a test upload to YT, using PD8s uploader, and the upload was completely successful for me. Do you have the latest build (patch) of PD8 installed? CL Home Page > PowerDirector > Support > Software Updates.

If you mean what format I used to upload this to Youtube, I used the WMV HD Standard Quality profile.

It's too bad you don't have a "match move" function where you don't have to key each move.

In some functions, there is a Duplicate Previous Key feature in PD8. But not in that particular Focus effect I used. So yes, it is labor intensive depending on how precisely one applies the highlight.
