Ran into a Tricolore couple of weeks ago, going up our fav mountain road. I was in a bus, the guy went by the OUTSIDE on his knee. I screamed "DUCATI!!!". All the passengers stared at me... Lol. Couldn't sleep for 3 nights after that. Don't know how much sleep I'd lose if I'd ran into an R...

Me too! My suspicions are that the 1098R is a more forgiving and hence faster bike for more people. If extremely talented, like McWilliams, the RR might just be faster around certain circuits.

I'll bet you're right. I have read that is true. The bikes are in two different classes as well. I think the RR is a moto GP bike and the 1098R is a superbike. Either one is well beyond my means.
