That's simply not true, sugar. They could have sat under the tree as much as they want. The police and DA came that day because of violence, not a "sit-in" under a public tree.

well the beating would have never happened if the school and community had properly dealt with the students that hung the nooses. Hanging nooses is a hate crime, they're a historic symbol of violence and oppression in our nation. I would've kicked the white kid's ass too...and I am white.

Umm...how many know that there were WHITE eyewitnesses that say that there were WHITE students kicking the white student in the head as well. The Jena 6, though involved are being used as scapegoats. The fact of the matter is the punishment does not fit the crime.

If you would have followed the story you would know that some of the same black boys who fought, were beaten up and threatened at gunpoint by whites before the fight with the white kids occured nothing happened to those whites. I hate when people don't know all the facts and make ignorant statements learn the facts then comment.

This is white people for you; they have selective memory. They all know that the guy had been taunting the Jena 6 with racial slurs. One of the kid got beat up by a white student couples days before. They hung nooses on the tree. A white boy pulled a shotgun on three black boys. They disarmed the boy and reported that to the authority. The white boy didn't get charge but the three black kids got charged with numerous crimes.
