This was the worst natural calamity in the Philippines and in Southeast Asia during 1991-1996. The ultra-Plinian eruption that this volcano blowed up never was defeated by any other volcano in the world. Soory for all those who died in the tragedy.
I was there when this happen all my life living in Angeles City and working in Clark Air Base, i can relate to this video.
If it wasn't for Mt. Pinatubo, i think Clark Air Base is still remain in Angeles City, Having the U.S. Military brought up jobs and priviledges to Filipino and we owe it to them including my family.
I still miss the Clark Air Base, and the individual we met who becomes part of our life.
18 years later Mount Pinatubo, revealed its real beauty and it's attracting thousands of local and foreign tourists. The crater lake is so amazing. Surrounded by lush green vegetations, fishes and other life forms regenerates. It's a new cycle of life indeed. The tragic memory almost forgotten.

This is one of the darkest day of my country's history. Millions of people were displaced from a very progressive region.
The eruption totally changed the landscape of the biggest portion of Central Luzon. The Aboriginal habitat of the Aeta's (Native People) was distroyed.
Houses and cathedrals ere buried by volcanic debris.
But the resilience of the Filipino in the midst of tragedy, they stood up and recovered from the misery.
No offense to the good folks at the US Geologic Survey, I think it's kind of perverse that anyone is supporting for the massive erruption of a volcano just to be proven correct. I don't care if their career hinges on it or not. Am I off base here?
look at the last 25 seconds when they are talking about the falling pumice stone falling, A ROD goes flying from the lower right side to the upper left. If you dont know what a ROD is look it up on youtube

I love the scene at 2:18 - 2:24. That was nicely edited, very powerful and dramatic.
