  • Im glad link didn't end up that way xD

  • Good thing he is blonde XD Thumbs up if you agree

  • anyone notice Link is right handed in this video?

  • i like link brunette

  • lol that was god awful

  • 3d gen 1 link fighting link with the metal mario cap

  • oh wow does link look retarded.

  • Some of the tech demos looked pretty cool, I'm just glad that they didn't keep Link looking like that. That would have been awful! I like him MUCH more the way he looks now!

  • All of the Zelda tech demos looked terrible, especially compared to what the final version ended up being. That being the pattern, I can't wait to see how awesome the WiiU Zelda game is, seeing as its tech demo looked fantastic.

  • @PiefaceclownPrdctns You think this looks terrible? DOOM released only 2 years earlier, look at how far this is from DOOM, or 2D games that were still the main thing on the market back then. This is full-blown 3D acceleration.

  • @WolfosDotOrg

Terrible compared to what OoT ended up looking like.

  • @PiefaceclownPrdctns Obviously, but when this was shown it was probably like watching the fucking moon landing. Nintendo's placeholder graphics always look so weird...

  • hahahaha that link head only looked good in picture from the book to alttp/adv of link

  • ew ew ew ew ew ew ew ew EWWW! Yuk! Absolutely the most disgusting thing I've ever- wait, this is related to Ocarina of Time? Never mind...

  • @evilpolarbear7 ~~ back in 1995 this graphics where a futuristic and a incredible thing, and yep, this was the 1rst "Trailer" of what Ocarina of Time Will be in 1998

  • Thumbs up if you're glad they didn't call it 'Zelda 64'.

  • i remember seeing these pics in my official nintendo magazine i used to get when i was probably 10 years old...sigh good times

  • Well, this is not a tech demo, it's only a demo. But whatever, this is cool.

  • Woah. o3o Nintendo really improved on the link model.

Thankgod Link didnt look like that when the game was released.

  • looks like the link from the cartoon

  • zelda,for the atari jaguar

  • Jesus christ how horrifying.

  • WELL EXCUUUUUSE ME, PRINCESS

  • @TheOrangeloveant Stealing top rated comments from a year ago.

    Rated: E

  • @TheOrangeloveant booooooooo

  • @Pissugar look, the reason why I said "Elfman 64: The Elf who can save christmas Rated: E" because it reminded me of a game that I made up!

  • @TheOrangeloveant wow that was fast

  • @Pissugar yup

  • I saw a picture that compared the tech demos of N64 and GCN to their final counterparts and then showed WiiU's tech demo. So yeah if Zelda's gonna look nicer than that then Holy crap.

  • This > Zelda HD for Wii U

  • wow.......................

  • good thing they fixed this up.

he's not even left-handed in this vid.

  • anyone else reminded of dark link when you look at the metal figure

  • will isnt link the hero ...it comes from generashen to another so the hero changes too right? thats why they made link blonde in earler games! sorry for my english im german.

  • At 0:22 is that the special area under the zoras place Nintendo closed up?

  • everything has the texture of metallmario

  • Awww...It was going to be classic Link? Damn

  • @MrAvalerin Yeah, look looks SO much better than in the past, but still, Nintendo Tried.

  • fugly link

    flink

  • I wonder why this Link has brown hair. They dumped the brown hair years before OOT.

  • looks like the cartoon series Link

  • How technology has come

  • Well EXCUUUUUUUUSSSSSEEEEE ME princess!

  • the other one has sound

  • i want a 3D remake of Zelda 1 and 2!!!

you have the model so gimme nintendo gimme!!!!!!!!!!!

of and just keep storyline and items but make games ocarina of time formula

who wouldn't want to zoom through beautiful environments as a 10" tall fairy

wait, omg Navi is actually Zelda II link getting revenge!!!!!

  • Why is he right handed?

  • @SomeWeirdUsername182 the original link was ambidextrous due to sprite mirrorring

  • i wish linked looked like that

  • @MattDuesk lol?

  • Just incase if anyone didn't notice, this link reminds a lot of that 80's cartoon link, dont'cha agree?

  • Dark Link looks like Metal Mario.

  • TECHNOLOGY!

  • they were trying to use oldschool link from loz 1-2 but i guess it didnt work out lolll

  • was link pinokio ?

  • Well exuuuuse ME princess!

  • Link in the style of the Zelda cartoon? DO WANT

  • I like the brown haired link, I mean the could have tweaked him up abit obviously. And what about the Pig Ganon that would sweet if they reintroduce that look. The big side-burns and long nose make him look like a aristocrat from 17th century all he needs is a top hat. I think the pig look could be pretty threatening especially with todays graphics.

  • Looks more like mario64

  • @AkiraParodyOfficial it's the same graphic engine

  • I think the Zelda that they ended up with in OoT is better then this prototype by far. Dont really like the design of this one.

  • @SkyShadow44

and yet this design is the original Link from the first two NES games. Maybe they wanted to go with a classic look in Oot at first. But I agree, the design for blondie link looks better than the classic one.

  • Awesome

  • zelda ocarina of time was one of the greatest games of all time.

  • someday they should improve ocerina of time same game and all but make the graphics amazing like on TP

  • I'm pretty sure this was made with the original Mario 64 engine before they modded the crap out of it to make the Zelda 64 that we ended up with.

  • @Evmoius they did

  • Haha Lol at ALTTP Link's pink hair

  • yes tis a gaey thing to behold.

  • wow, amazing to see this vid again! brings back fond memories of my N64. :)

  • lol, link is the link from the second gamew

  • cool... metal link.

  • looks like metal mario lol....this has to be a rare vid

  • sweeeeeeeett

  • thank god they made link blonde...

  • @TheParanoidLime Why? He looks great with brown hair - okay the old Link design looks a bit 80s by modern standards but I'm not really a fan of his 90's American centre parting look. In any case anything is better than his purple rinse in LTTP

  • @TaienQuinn

Isnt he blonde in NES and SNES concept art?

  • @TheParanoidLime Link looks like crap with dark hair

  • @TheParanoidLime you racist ¬¬

  • @TheParanoidLime taller, thinner and more fitting to the environment.

  • @TheParanoidLime

he could of had brown hair, they just needed to fix the rest of his image.

  • @andthemouse

He's had blond hair ever since Link To The Past, albeit it was blond dirty until OOT.

  • @TheParanoidLime He was always blonde, but the NES couldn't process the color.

  • @flamehour08 false,he was brown in the first and second zelda game,he became blonde in the third game, sincerely i dont know why they decided to make him blonde,is it to make him look better.

  • @flamehour08

no, his hair was pink in ALTTP

  • @MewtwoGenetic

That's because the fact the game couldn't handle his hair. It's dirty blond in the official artwork.

Just like how Peach, Samus, and Zelda have always been blond but it wasn't shown until later..

  • Comment removed

  • @flamehour08 PEASE CHECK OUT THE ARTWORK, HE HAS BROWN HAIR... AND IN ZELDA 3 HE HAS PINK HAIR OR OTHERWISE KNOWN AS MAGENTA AS IN CMKY... THE CPU STANDARD.. WAS THE TRIFORCE PINK? NO.

OK FACTS TIME ZELDA 1+2 BROWN HAIR IN-GAME AND ARTWORK. ZELDA 3 PINK HAIR , HE EVEN TRANSFORMS INTO A PINK RABBIT (MY CAPS IS LOCK)

  • @cmonconan i thought he had brownish hair in alttp and that it was the edge of his hat that was pink

  • @pollo20x6 aaah no caps lock, no he has pink hair and when he turns into a bunny covered in hair he is the same colour, pink. period.

  • Comment removed

  • @cmonconan but in the manual for the snes game it shows him with brownish hair

    :/

also link is showed like that in the manual for the GB game "link's awakening"

  • @cmonconan btw, i don't mean the in-game sprite character. i know they had to give that link pink hair due to system and palette limitations.

  • @TheParanoidLime agreed

  • @TheParanoidLime And shortened his nose.

  • hahahahahahahahahahahaha, 1998's link is better

  • uhhhhhh this was a tech demo, not a finished product.. meaning they were just testing the technology (3D Engine and such)... so they didn't put much effort into making link look good

  • No, that was his original look from the very first Zelda games, but they changed it, it's not that they didn't put effort in him, because they did!

  • Santa has many elves....

But only one of them... can SAVE CHRISTMAS.

The legend of Elfman: Saving of Santa

    Rated: E

  • Well EXCUUUUUUUUUUUSE ME! Why wasn't this game made? ._.

  • It was, Ocarina of Time.

  • Well actually this was going to be Zelda 64 but during development they converted it to OoT.

  • btw Zelda 64 was OOT, Zelda 64 was just a name they gave it before they had one for oot.

  • it was made into the ocarina of time.

characters and games go through a lot of development in 3 years xD

  • Errrrrr, I should of never made that comment. I failed at pretending to be Cartoon Link...he was curious why he didn't get his game and instead blonde Link got it.

  • lamp oil Rope Bombs You want it its yours my friend

    MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

  • Lamp oil, rope, bombs...YOU WANT IT? It's yours, my friend, as long as you have enough rupies.

I'm sorry, Link. I can't give credit! Come back when you're a little MMMMMMMMMM richer!

  • the most epic battle

  • This actually would've been pretty cool if they kept this (IMO).

  • I think this is the early version of the Iron Knuckle battle in Spirit Temple. So, in escence, they kept it.

  • Its actually Early Beta of Link vs. Dark Link.

  • That thing is Dark Link? Wicked.

  • It's a Stalfos, not Dark Link.

  • yea bro its a stalfos, there those fucking skeleton guys that are anoying as fuck

  • no its PEPSI MAN with a big oblong sword hah!

  • Actually..What did the NES Link look like?

    :/

    *wiki*

Oh,most Link's before OoT did look like this..Except Link to the Past Link,he had pink-purple hair.

  • Only in-game due the SNES color palette limitations. Official arts of A Link to the Past despict him blonde.

  • I always thought that was the brim of his hat, hot his hair.

  • Good thing this concept wasn't used.

This Link looks too much like that previous Link

  • it exactly the same as the previous link but in 3d polygons.

  • Didn't the previous Link have pink hair, but blond hair in the official art?

  • I think so, in A Link to The Past he had pink hair. I know that the NES link had brown pixel hair, but the official art was blonde.

  • Blond? It looked light brown to me,or maybe it was dirty blond?

  • Actually in A Link to the Past he only had Pink hair when he had that Mail on.

  • I do not think this is a beta guys.

I want to say this is a concept.

  • Lawl, I'm so glad Ocarina of Time was different O_O These graphics sucked, OCARINA OF TIME FTW!!!!!! xD

  • It's a TECH DEMO! There were never any chance of the game looking that bad.

  • its true

  • To me,it looks like Link is fighting a knight, not Dark Link.

  • WOW on the final version you dont fight dark link till he's older rather than as young link on this version.

  • They should have recreated the first Legend of Zelda on the N64 in the style.

  • this is the most epic battle i ever seeN!

  • that's a big nose indeed

  • great il go get my stuff!

  • OH BOY!

  • im so hungry i could eat an ocktorok!

  • Link, MAI BOI!

  • THERE IS NO TIME. YOUR SWORD IS ENOUGH.

  • Squadala we're off!

  • You'll have to settle for-"DINNER".

  • Haha, yeah... good point.

  • This kind of looks like an early version of the Dark Link battle.

  • i loved this game when i first played it ( a while back) then they changed the looks, like the windwaker, and i went totaly off it.

  • And there you have it people..

  • I still play Ocarina Of Time :P

Can never get enough of it..

    Who agrees?

  • i do

  • Who thought that would become ocarins of time

  • Look's like the link in those ledgend of zelda cartoons that aired on the super mario bros super show.

  • Why a right handed Link, I wonder?

  • Well, Link, like Miyamoto is said to be ambidextrious.

  • I always thought he was cited as being the "left-handed hero" and it is explicitly stated that his "manual preference" is left in Wind Waker. However, that doesn't necesserily contradict what you just said.

I suppose Link's dominant hand must be his left one because the mark of the Triforce appears on his left hand.

  • Well,mostly each Link is different,right?

So maybe, this Link just uses his right hand.

  • Every Link has been left-handed (God aweful cartoons not withstanding). Twilight Princess for the Wii had a right-handed Link to save confusion for the gamers using the Nunchucks.

While it is true that each Link has differences, there a very strong constants that they all share, the dominant left hand being one of them.

  • that linkjk looks alot like the link of the original Zelda

  • this link must have been thinking"well excuuuse me metal guy!"

  • Looks like super smash brothers, except with shitty link.

  • LOL

Im glad they delayed ocarina a few years, that looked like SNES on steroids

    O_o

  • Thank christ OOT didnt look like that. Very interesting though.

  • lol if only it was like that nintendo would of had a epic fail on the 64 and would of ended up as a 3rd party company seeing how bad gamecube did they woulda quit

  • OMG! Link in this video looks like link from the zelda cartoon.

  • well excuuuuuse me princess! lol

  • Based on the GameBoy Link(s).

  • wow man that was awesome check out that nose!

  • Man, you're an idiot.

If it weren't for stuff like that, you wouldn't have the tech you do now.

  • Amen, and besides, some games back then were more epic and fun than the ones we have today.

  • gota start sumwhere, i disagree with ur bashing on tech demos, its like me making fun of cavemen, yeah they were dumb but wtf would we be without them
