It is a military surplus crane, yes you can use it for pipe laying, but it better be some dam light pipe, and you better be dam close to the ditch so you dont end up in it when u pick the pipe. pipe layers are usualy side booms. they work/are made for it.
Now that's a rare piece. But looks very handy.
