1960: Anthony Perkins ("Psycho"); 1961: Paul Newman ("The Hustler"); 1962: Peter O'Toole ("Lawrence of Arabia"); 1963: Paul Newman ("Hud"); 1964: Anthony Quinn ("Zorba the Greek"); 1965: Richard Burton ("The Spy Who Came in from the Cold"); 1966: Michael Caine (Alfie"); 1967: Scott Wilson ("In Cold Blood"); 1968: Alan Arkin ("The Heart is a Lonely Hunter"); and 1969: Dustin Hoffman (Midnight Cowboy").
@dinasztie You can give it to Burton in 1965 for Spy Who Came in from the Cold, I think you can switch Newman and Poitier. I think Poitier and Newman should tie in 1967. Poitgier wasn't even nominated, for To Sir with Love. Very underated performance. Newman In Hud is just sublimke.
@dinasztie And it should of been Burton in 1966. Oscar definitely is an Anglophile. I can watch Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf? over and over. A Man for all Seasons is a bit of a bore.
