  • I just brought mine home today and I'll be fixing mine this winter... hopefully. Cant wait to watch the rest of your vids. I live on Church Lane in Aquebogue btw

  • @teenmod12 Very cool you will enjoy this Boat

  • I have a 15 foot American Discoverer with the same hull shape but just a bit bigger. I'll be restoring her too.

  • @punkfunkubus We have had lots of fun with this boat I'm sure you will too

  • hey how are you doing i follow all your videos of your 22 courageous cat i have a hunter 25.5 and am buying a daysailer that looks the EXACT same as yours just a different color hull, my question is can you fit two people in this or is that pushing it? Also the one im buying has a 4hp and i think thats a waste some i removing it, you can paddle something this size till the sails are up without a problem right? Thanks!!!!

  • @mattt6511 there are kingfishers that were made by company named Atlantic that are pistachio green color

I'm a pretty big guy me and my wife where fine in it this came with 4 HP motor it was fine 73 Johnson weed less also I have kingfisher site on line and facebook too

  • Why am I thinking Clark Griswald ?

  • I caught this by accident while looking for wooden boat videos..

Nice wholesome and humorous video :-) This is like watching someone bring home a puppy for the first time, for their kids -- ha ha ha . It made me smile. Thanks for posting it.

  • @HondosPlace Thanks

hope you check out the webpage and seen what it looks like fixed up and with new sails

  • they are not a very fast boat i know that

  • @jezcol I beg to differ

the new sails I have make this thing fly

  • i've been refurbishing one almost just like that, except i measured it to be 11 foot in length. I have to start on the sail riggin next, as I've got it ready for rowing only now. I did find a hin number on mine. I can still see the registration number for new mexico, but I haven't looked it up yet. This boat I believe is a 1971 model.

  • This is a sweet boat, I learned to sail on one when I was a kid. Haven't touched it in about ten years though, thinking about fixing it up and getting back out on the water.

Won a race with my dad on it when I was about 8, one of the best memories of my childhood. :)

  • did you go to the kingfisher website ?

    look next to video

    under my pic for link

  • I did, neat stuff!

  • Cool I just wanted make sure you knew the story continues

  • Yeah, I've been pouring over everything Kingfisher-related I could find online over the last week.

I'm keeping an album of my restoration progress on facebook, posted a link in the group you created.

  • well I hope we help in inspiration

if you find any info we don't have

    please forward it

    very little info out there

  • Have you had her out? She sure is cute!

    Dan

  • check the link next right side of video

  • I have some questions for you and other owners of the Kingfisher, because I am considering buying one.

Is there room in it for two adults, one 6 & 245 Lb? Can the mast be stepped by 5' 3" woman?

Is your centerboard aluminum? *IF* the cb's are aluminum, how can you step on it after a capsize (to right the boat) and not ruin the (soft) aluminum centerboard?

  • Does Kingfisher make a 14' model as well?

  • I'm not sure

This is 1974 American fiberglass corp Kingfisher 12

but I think larger ones had different names like Neptune ?

  • We have own one of these boats, been in the family about 17 years now. Sent you a message with my email if you need further info.

    JSB

  • We've had a kingfisher sailboat as a gift for about 3 yrs now,,,,its a great little boat for wife and I. Not a fast b\oat for racing,, but tons of fun here on the Barnegat Bay when winds are fail. Good luck with your new boat,,,
