  • These people are why I left the Republican party, and lent my support to Chris Murphy and the Democratic party. I also don't appreciate being yelled at by tea party demonstrators when I go to vote. These people treat democracy like they're spectators at a football game.

  • i love simsbury (musa)

  • GOP

    Grandstanding, Opposing, & Preventing.

If the Republicans were so opposed to big spending and taxes, they'd give themselves a few salary cuts and stop lining their pockets with money from the health care industry. They don't. The Republicans are not representing people who just work for a living. They are representing their biggest investors - industry and the shareholders holding stock in it - that is where they get more money than they receive for staff salaries.

    You've been had.

  • What's most unfortunate is that the public opiIon IS a co-op option that is viable enough to negotiate a contract with hospitals & drug companies and remain an OPTION. Without it you have the 2nd co-op option - that is, the co-op that allows small businesses to purchase ins., which has to be taxed to be viable. THE REPUBLICANS KNEW THAT. They don't care about you, they are representing the insurance & pharmacy industries and their stockholders. Fox "News" has duped you. You are sheep to them.

  • We are not Republicans......both sides must be defeated. True competition will be the only thing that will work.

Insurance is not health care. Insurance is protection against catastrophic injury or disease!

Minor costs should be paid out of pocket like any other expense.

In the UK, the rich can pay and the poor die. Because they can afford it.

  • These idiots who keep saying "what about tort reform" obviously are too ignorant hat tort reform is legislated on a state level. If they are so anti-big government, then they should stop insisting on making tort reform a federal issue. What about red herrings.

  • Thanks for setting us idiots straight. This is a good reason to oust most members of the Connecticut legislature next year.

What is "hat tort reform", mr. smartypants ?

  • ....obviously too ignorant to realize that tort reform is legislated on a state level.

Do you need that spelled out further ? Tort Reform Laws are STATE laws, not federal laws.

It's a red herring. Do you need that spelled out for you?

A red herring is what a Republican congressman or senator - or the "news"* channel that backs him - declares as relevant to his cause in order to mislead you.

Mislead - spelled out: as in relying on you to fall for it & follow their cues like sheep.

  • Please educate us. We all need to know.

We don't have all the answers, but we are willing to learn. We don't suppose to be the elites!

  • WE SEE the results and it aint pretty, no matter how much pablum you stuff down our throats, pal!

  • observations - Kids will be able to get eyeglasses. They'll be able to get oral care as well as medical care. People with dependents will be able to afford their premiums as well as their copays. Your employer won't have to worry about getting a huge increases in costs year after year while the benefits decrease.

  • @jbugko Sounds great, but at the price of government forcing your participation and more taxes. You really think government is all of a sudden going to be able to take on a responsibliity like this and keep it affordable.

  • I don't think participation should be forced, but the reason it's come up is that the Republicans are doing their best to obliterate the options that would be viable. Thus making mandatory participation the alternative. You really have to review all of it to realize why it's come up. It wasn't put in until recently - that's why it's now a part of the bill. Because of the lobbyists who would not even hear of single pay and now work toward obliterating even a viable public option.

  • Obama thinks healthcare should be mandatory pay a tax or go to jail. Nice options so much for my individual rights? His arguement is our ER rooms are already overburdened with the uninsured? HMM nice logic so lets not just pay for everyones ER, but their hospital stays too! I liked his analogy everyone has car insurance by law, I guess he didn't realize you can choose not to drive.

  • more observations AFTER READING THE BILL:

7Lack of affordable coverage has forced many WORKERS to join the ranks of the uninsured, including those w/kids.

8 The addt'l public option, where you pay prems on a SLIDING SCALE BASIS based on income would compete against private insurers in a new insurance marketplace -In other words, Ed Hanway, CEO of Cigna, who made an annual salary last yr of $12.2 million (that is $5,542 per hr) might not get a raise but Cigna wont go bankrupt & neither will we

  • more observations, AFTER READING THE BILL:

    5. Because more people will become insured, the subsidies paid for emergency room visits of the uninsured will greatly decrease.

    6. Small business and entrepeneurs will be able able to purchase affordable insurance.

6(a) Right now, the ins. industry is getting away w/charging small business owners more for the same policy that is offered larger businesses. That's why a lof of small business owners can't insure their employees.

  • @jbugkoWhat do you think would happen if group plans for corporate america and government employees were abolished and every ones business was competed for independantly?

  • YOu'd first have to acknowledge difference between an insurance co-op and insurance purchasing co-op and the viability and benefits/drawbacks between the two. With an ins co-op, you start your own insurance company and have to find hospitals to negotiate a contract the way these huge, insurance for-profit companies dominating our country do. Good luck with that, you'll need it. The first option is a romantic notion at best; what you are left with is the ins. purchasing co-op.

  • The insurance purchasing cooperative would buy insurance from the insurance broker who will keep prices inflated and remains as it is: run by a handful of greedy for-profit shmucks who are going to maintain the same ruthless, merciless, cut-throat status quo at your cost. Those emergency room visits aren't going to get any less expensive that way, and neither will premiums. That's why a public option is more viable. Because it is a non-profit option.

  • Non profit, yes that is why our country is bankrupt and the dollar is on the brink of collapse, because the government doesn't know how to run anything. If public option happens soon there will be no option left but the government. Why not make govt group plans and corporate plans illegal so insurance has to compete for our business as individuals? If everyone is entitled to healthcare why don't we just provide it for the world, doesn't everybody deserve it even if they don't contribute?

  • Observations AFTER READING THE BILL:

    1. It will provide competition in the insurance marketplace & result in increasing the number of people getting employer-provided coverage.

    2. It will help sr citizens & their families by eliminating the "donut hole" gap in coverage.

    3. People will be paying REASONABLE premiums.

    4. The qualifying benefits will correspond with the standard of care that doctors use to prescribe treatment.

  • AFTER OBSERVING health care in those industrialized countries, United Kingdom and Canada, NO THANKS!!

AFTER having watched Dodd and his fellow incompetents plunder our social, economic and education system, I say NO THANKS...

  • And yeah -- I went to an event around the time of the primaries in 2008 and saw him speak firsthand without anyone interrupting him (it was a WCSU, so you're pretty much a lone dissenter), so it's clear these are things he truly believes in.

  • Crabber shut up. You're not even thinking for yourself you are just spewing the same nonsense you read in articles online. You don't know what you're talking about.

  • Everybody seems to be ignoring the issue here - Healthcare is just simply expensive. We cannot have a nation of people dying on the streets because they lack medical aid.

All these issues are tied to America's interpretation of 'free market'. If employment, medicine, and insurance were really priced by market forces they'd be cheaper. The problem is that the government has been pricefixing for years.

The private healthcare system is flawed. Something needs to be done.

  • Mr. Murphy is a gracious man, but wrong on the issues, and he knows it. Watch him switch parties next year when he gets an epiphany!

  • You're hoping for too much. Murphy has a green thumb (probably thinks cap-and-tax doesn't go far enough) and wants an unconditional amnesty for illegals. He wants to debate issues to death that he disagrees with. Only epiphany is the people voting him out of office.

  • Grass roots rudeness and hooliganism

  • These people make me scared and I definitely don't want their fearmongering to rule the day. They've motivated me to protest on the other side. How totally rude they are compared with Murphy's graciousness.

  • Lolz i know where that is XD

  • Bravo to you Simsbury patriotic citizens.

  • TITLE 1 SUBTITLE C-STANDARDS GUARANTEEING ACCESS TO ESSENTIAL BENEFITS. ...

-does not impose any annual or lifetime limit on the coverage of health care items and services

  • We are witnessing the early tremors of an earthquake coming in 2010. America is shaking-off the government-induced stupor of decades of false security.

The silent majority now realizes how valuable their votes are! They will not waste them again by staying home on Election Day!

Nope, never again! Your vote does matter. The lesson has been learned.

Give the protesters an A for effort. They got out and went to the streets for all of us.

    BRAVO !!!

  • We are looking at a lot of misinformed people who took mischaracterizations from pundits whose salaries are mainly from the insurance and pharmaceutical industry. Here's just a handful of the health industry sponsors of Fox News for instance. AFLAC, CIGNA, NATIONWIDE, PFIZER, BAYER, JOHNSON & JOHNSON, UNITED HEALTHCARE INC., HSBC INSURANCE, STATE FARM, WYETH LABS, GLAXO-SMITH-KLEIN, ROCHE DIAGNOSTICS, CHATTEM, BRISTOL MEYERS, SANOFI-AVENTIS, ADM KAO LLC.

    You're being conned.

  • TITLE 1, SUBTITLE B-SECTION 111 - Prohibiting Pre-Existing Condition Exclusions.

  • Congress - put yourselves on the SAME healthcare you want us to have. We're fed up with the political class in this country getting top of the line at our expense while we get the dregs.

  • You would think these democrats would get the hint that the people of this country are sick of their lies. Hear me Obozo ??

  • born to achieve....I doubt your admission. Prove me wrong.....you know how!

There were many cameras in the crowd, and many points of view. My point was to show the sights and sounds of an emotional gathering, not to strain to try to hear above the din.

You would know to look other places on this channel to see quiet conversations with Murphy, Himes, or whomever.

That fellow is not a knucklehead, he is a musician. Any Dump Dodder would know that!

  • It's just a matter of time before this video is shown on MSNBC and other media especially the part with the knucklehead playing the whatever. Why was so much time devoted to this guy on the film when hearing what the people have to say is so much more important? This is the kind of footage they are trying to get their hands on to make our cause look bad. I am part of the Dump Dodd and Tea Party group locally however; this video makes us all look like idiots.

  • yes finally ppl are getting fed up with this shit, but can you believe the news trying to spin this shit like its organized chaos, at first it was the health insurance companies, then it was the republicans and those fuckerss on cnn (the communist news network) have the balls to call these ppl cowardly and disorderly the elite are scared this is the scariest shit that has happened yet and it will grow to out of control porportions! we will win!

  • Congressman Murphy usually gets 20-40 people. You could talk to him quietly face to face. Some other CT. Congressmen got less than 20.

Things have changed. It will never be the same again! Once the taxpayers feel motivated, energized and emboldened, they will never put up with incompetence and mischief from their elected representatives again! Finally..........

You can see many other Palin Smith You Tube videos with Courtney, Himes, Dodd, Larson and Murphy.

  • 1, WHERE'S THE MIC

2, so far this is pretty dam calm

3, WHERE"S the mic. how can people hear without a mic.

  • the numbers will grow

  • Yes, lock up all the taxpayers commissar, and then who pays your salary?

  • I don't get your point about lock up all the taxpayers, as I am a taxpayer too. And why the comissar reference, if you mean one who is trying to control public opinion and information....isn't that what the Recess Rally website is about?

  • what a waste of time....no well-informed comment or audible question & answer on this most important issue...do people really believe this stuff?

  • Why shout read the bill when i'm willing to bet nobody in that croud, with maybe except the congressman, has read the bill.

  • hahahaha grassroots? faux news viewers? hahaahaha These people are un-American neo-nazi republicans.

Should be wearing brown shirts. Well red shirts match with the nazis of the past.

Should lock all of their asses up or take them somewhere and drop them off...

  • CC...don't wait for them to come to you, my friend. Get in your souped-up Dodd-mobile and go see them. It's informative, it's your civic duty, and it is feun!

  • OH MY GOODNESS. . . Looks like the rebellion has started! This is an excellent sign, and I hear it's happening all over the country! But what I really fear is the governments reaction to these incidents. By the way, does anyone know when Rep John Larson is making a public appearance in the NW Corner? I'd like to ask him a few questions!

  • These Palin Smith Videos are better than what I see at the movies! Never know what's in store. Great job, once again. Thanks for the smiles.

  • An amazing crowd, and it couldn't be more spontaneous. People don't want to hear from their congressmen, at this point: they want the congressmen to listen.

  • Chris:

What is YOUR copay at the doctor's office?

What is YOUR employee contribution to your insurance premium cost?

  • Americans waking up.

  • One of your best videos Palinsmith. One of MANY videos of Americans in this country saying ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, we must take our country back. Enjoyed the young man playing the "Dump Dodd" words on the Down Under horn.:)=^..^=
